Super Mario All-Stars Review

By Ludwig 222

I am reviewing on a scale of zero to four stars like in my last Review. This is a Review of Mario All-Stars for SNES, and a Comparison of the games in it. My version doesn't have Mario World, but the pack has Mario 1, Lost Levels, Mario 2, and Mario 3. I'm counting Mario 1 and Lost Levels as the same since they're so similar.

Graphics: Mario 1: ***1/2 Mario 2: ***1/2 Mario 3: ****

The graphics of all four are pretty good. Mario 1's graphics are better than the NES version. The Mario 2 graphics are also good. But the best of them all was Mario 3 because the graphics looked ultra-cool. The backgrounds are very good, too. The Koopa Kids looked really good in this game!

Sound: Mario 1: *1/2 Mario 2: ** Mario 3: ***1/2

Mario 1's music was normal. I think Bowser's theme is the best. The music for Mario 2 was slightly better. Mario 3's music is the best of them all again.

Gameplay: Mario 1: *** Mario 2: *** Mario 3: ***

The gameplay for all three were pretty good, and there is not much to say about it.

Levels: Mario 1: ***1/2 Mario 2: ***1/2  Mario 3: ****

Mario 1 had repeating levels while Lost Levels had different levels with odd backgrounds, like 8-3. In both games, the underground background is cool and the castle background had... pictures of Bowser! Mario 2's levels are good, too. The Mario 3 levels are very fun, like 7-5, 7-9, and 8-1. Mario 3 is the winner again.

Diffuculty: Mario 1: ***1/2 Mario 2: *1/2 Mario 3: **1/2

Mario 1 is kinda hard but fun. Mario 2 is easiest of them all I think. Mario 3 had levels both easy and hard, but you can beat them in a few tries.

Items: Mario 1: 1/2 Mario 2: 1/2 Mario 3: ****

Mario 1 and Mario 2 didn't have lots of items and Mario 3 had LOTS of different kinds of items. The winner is obviously Mario 3.

Fun Factor!: Mario 1: *1/2 Mario 2: ** Mario 3: ****

Well, Mario 1 and Lost Levels are both average in most stuff. Mario 2 is odd but fun EXCEPT for thereplay value because save files are split into worlds, not levels. As for Mario 3... only three words describe it: EVERYTHING is good.

Overall: Mario 1: **1/2  Mario 2: **1/2  Mario 3: ****

Mario 1 and Mario 2 are pretty much average for most stuff so it's worth playing. The winner is DEFINITELY Mario 3, of course.

Recommendation:

I don't really know where you can find the game, for I received it many years ago. My best guess is probably (again) eBay or any other online store like. Amazon.com.
