Loco Roco Review

Platform: PSP
ESRB Rating: E
Genre: Platformer (I think)
Price: Around $30

I will rate each subject on a scale of 1-10. 1=Bad, 10=Awesome. Now let's get to the reviewing!

Story: 6/10

Not really anything dramatic or deep. The cute little Loco Rocos are just playing around, when all of a sudden, evil black, flying things called Mojas start infesting their world. It's Loco Roco's job to find his other Loco Roco friends and... defeat the Mojas. Pretty basic story.

Graphics: 9/10

Simple, colorful, and cute. This game was meant to be cute, and it is... except for the last boss, which is creepy. The main Loco Roco just look like cute, yellow orbs with a face and an antenna. But the 5 other Loco Rocos you unlock through the game (Pink, Blue, Black, Red, and Green) are kinda ugly.

Gameplay: 10/10

Controls are simple. Use L or R to rotate the level, moving Loco Roco by rolling, and tap L and R to jump or hold L and R for bigger jumps). You press O to split into little Loco Rocos and hold O to get the Loco Rocos back together. There are 40 unique stages (plus the 4 demo levels you can send to other PSP users or just play on your own). There are a few puzzles, too.

Music: 8/10

The music fits into each stage. It's memorable and cute most of the time. I find myself singing in my mind some of the songs from the levels.

Replayability: 7/10

After finishing the game, there are still a lot of secrets in levels and MuiMuis (little blue things, 3 for each stage) to find. But after finding enough MuiMuis to unlock the 3 minigames there are, there isn't really any reason to keep trying to find all the MuiMuis.

Longevity: 4/10

I beat the game in 3 days... including finding most of the MuiMuis. The amount of time you take on each level varies from 1 minute to a little over 15.

Fun Factor!: 9/10

The unique and creative level design is one of the best things about this game.

Multiplayer: No multiplayer. But there is a level.... designer (I guess) in the game. It just lets you put a bunch of platforms and whatever else you unlocked in one short pre-made level. Then you can post it for other people to play using Ad Hoc mode. (Ad Hoc Mode for the PSP is what they call Wi-Fi.)

Overall: 7/10

This game is cute and fun, but doesn't last very long and could have been a little bit harder. If you want a game for keeping this isn't a good idea. If you want to rent a game for a few days, this game is for you. They could've had better multiplayer, and they should've released this game for DS too. But they didn't...

Thanks for reading my Review! You can get back to your Pokemon match now ^_^
