PRODUCED BY: Naughty Dog / Universal Interactive Studios
DEVELOPED BY: Naughty Dog
GENRE: Action / Adventure
PLATFORM: PlayStation
YEAR OF RELEASE: 1997

One more time, our favorite bandicoot is back, in a new, totally changed game! As the name says, it's the second game of the Crash series, and it was totally remodelled. (It even lost the damsel in distress scheme!) The topics of the game are listed below.

STORY - 10!
I don't know why, but I often compare this story to an anime. It begins with the end of the previous game. Neo Cortex is falling from his blasted glider and falls in a dark and humid cave. There, he sees a crystal. One year after these happenings, Cortex builds a huge space station and finds a new assistant, the cyborg N. Gin. N. Gin states that the "Master-Crystal" is not enough to power the new Cortex Vortex (for those who don't remember, the Cortex Vortex brainwashes people, turning them evil) that Cortex created, and it's going to need the remaining 25 "Slave-Crystals" on the Earth. N. Gin also says that this is going to be almost impossible, because there are no earthbound operatives left, to which Cortex responds with the phrase "If we don't have any friends left on the surface, then we'll need to find... an enemy." Meanwhile, on the surface, Crash sleeps near his introduced younger sister, Coco Bandicoot, who is typing on her laptop. Suddenly, the screen fades and she asks Crash to find an extra battery. While looking for the battery, it's kidnapped by Cortex, who asks Crash to gather the crystals, with the excuse that the Earth is going to be destroyed by an unknown force and the only way to stop it is gathering crystals. Our hero believes in Cortex's lie, and goes on a desperate search for the crystals...

GAMEPLAY - 10!
This time, unlike the previous game, you must collect the crystals to proceed through the game. A new good thing is that it is not necessary for to you arrive at the end of a course without dying to obtain a gem, though you then won't unlock the skull platform; these platforms can take you to a secret part of a level, where you can get an extra gem or break extra crates. They're only unlocked if you don't die before arriving there. Also, the load/save mechanic is a little more practical, the bonus levels are easier to find, and now, Nitro crates are introduced. Unlike the TNT boxes that return in Crash 2, these can blow up on direct contact. And, once more, if you collect all the jewels, you can obtain a new ending. Sometimes, holograms of Coco appears trying to tell Cortex's real intentions, and Nitrus Brio, who wants to get his revenge on Cortex for blowing up his space station using all the 42 gems, also appears. Cool!

GRAPHICS - 10!
The graphics are, once more, very pretty and well-drawn. The wonders of Crash!

MUSIC - 10!
One more time, the music is WONDERFUL!!! Made once more by the band Mutato Muzika (formed by Mark Mothersbaugh and Josh Mancell).

FUN FACTOR! - 10!
Once more, the bandicoot is a very funny fellow, and more crazy characters are introduced: the samurai komodo dragons Moe and Joe, the muscle-bound thylacine Tiny Tiger, and N. Gin.

FINAL NOTE: 9,5
Naughty Dog once more went beyond expectations and made a very good Crash game. A bad point is that it doesn´t have the epilogue as in the previous game and can be very frustrating sometimes, but it´s good nonetheless.
