System: Computer
Price: $10
Well here's the
story. Sam is happily eating cookies, trying to collect box-tops for a
Pajama Man action figure (dut-da-da). But the cookies come alive and bring
Sam to a pantry where you are transported to the foody world. Now after
some investigation you figure out you must find and save 4 food products.
It's up to you to collect box-tops and the 4 foods. Pajama Sam is the main
character who you control.
Graphics: ***
The graphics
were not bad, but they weren't amazing either. The only impressive graphics
in the game were at the point you see all the detail and colors. This game
is dark, though. When I say dark I mean that it's like there are barely
any bright colors. So if you’re okay with darkish graphics then this game
gets a good score.
Sound: ***
I'll start with
the music. This was pretty bad. It didn't get annoying but there weren't
enough good tunes. Like in the heart, you hear pretty sour music and this
thump thump thump over and over again. It gets pretty annoying. So the
music isn't that great.
Now for the sound. Well, let me put it this way: all of the sound was perfect! The sound Humongous Entertainment put in this game was a sensation, like when Sam runs into another area: z-wooooo! Or when you let the donut fall in the water, you'll hear a big splash and then when the donut spins you'll hear a twirling noise.
Finally, the voices.
Well the voices fit the characters but they talked way too much. Like when
the two orange guards are talking, they talk forever, it seems. So as you
can see, the sound was not awesome but it definitly fit the game pretty
nicely.
Difficulty: *
Well this section
really depends on you. If you like hard game that are really confusing
and tough then you probably won't want this one. But if you like an easier
game then you'll like this a lot. Now it is hard in its own way, but it
is not horribly confusing, all it needs is some thinking and a little bit
of being able to figure out what you to do in this game. Overall it isn't
that hard.
Replayability:
*****
Well if you followed
the directions at the top like you were supposed to, you will be in for
a huge shock. Okay, well let tell why this is a whopping 5 stars! Not only
will you want to play it a ton, you'll be playing a new game! Yes, you
heard me, a new game. The game will be the same in a lot of ways, but not
exactly. For example, to save a piece of bread you must get him down from
a Ferris wheel. Well restart your game and now you'll have to save him
because he's in the prize booth as a prize! Or when you have to put some
of a banana's lines together, in another game you don't have to. It is
quite amazing when you think about it So this awesome replayability
is great! Oh, but just so you understand, though a lot of things may change,
some of them stay the same. In Humongous Entertainment games, they usually
have 2 to 5 different games, so you may play the same game over. Now besides
that awesome touch, even if the game stayed the same it would still be
pretty dang fun to play, so I doubt you'll be disappointed with the game
in this section.
Levels: ****
The places you
go are detailed, but there could be a few more of them. But if you think
about it enough, you will realize that it would get really annoying walking
through all the places back and forth..
Characters: ***
The characters
weren't that great. Some of them were pretty cool though, like the muscular
muffins at the beach, or Rock, Paper, and Scizzors. They're plumbers trying
to fix some leaks. But there wasn’t a humongous amount of characters (no
pun intended). The only major characters were Sam, the main character (he
is a human); Sprinkle, a donut you ride around; and the 6 main food leaders
(the food groups are dairy, wheat, vegetable, fruit, poultry, and everyone's
favorite, candy. The characters lacked personality too, so I guess I can
give it a good three stars.
Controls: ***
Well you only
use the mouse in this game. They could have added a little bit of button
typing! But the good thing about it was the controls were easy. There are
no confusing buttons or button patterns like Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year
Door! There isn't much else to say.
Gameplay: ****
Well here are
the main things you do in this game. First, collect cookie box-tops hidden
in areas. Once you get 20 you get a Pajama Man action figure with a titanium
elbow! You also (as I've said) must find the 4 food groups’ leaders by
solving problems. You have an inventory where you store everything you
find or need. Just so you know, as you have, read the game changes.
If you go to an area in a second game you've never been or use an area
that you couldn't figure out before, it's because the game changes. So
you might not know at first what I'm talking about when I say that it's
really fun to go and ring the bell on the strength tester. And I'll let
you in on a little secret. Actually two. Well if you've ever played other
games created by Humongous Entertainment then you might recognize some
characters through the game! Now secret two. Try clicking on different
plants or items and maybe they'll do something!
Fun Factor!:
****
This game was
definitely fun. It was a little annoying, but that doesn't make it any
less fun to play, does it? (Well maybe for some people.) I could tell all
the fun things in the game, but from reading this Review I think you know.
Recommendation.
Well first off
I have no clue or not if this runs on new computers. It was made in 2000
so maybe not, but I have a 2005 computer and it works, so... Now if you
think the program will run on your computer and you don't mind a childish
game then I think it is definitely worth it' amazing price of $10. If you
don't mind the easiness and the sound then I'd say you'd like it. It gets
a good, clean **** stars!
