"Today, I'll be reviewing Pokemon Channel. Like its title suggests, it's a Pokemon game. I'll be rating on a star scale of 1 to 10. 1 is horrible and pathetic, with 10 being awesome and... and... well, something that's good, OKAY!!! I won't rate the system or what the game is rated. Now read and enjoy, the Review. Not the game. Okay, the game too, then! SHEESH!! All these complaints! I'M NOT PAID ENOUGH FOR THIS!!! Oh wait, on second thought, I am. No wonder they pay that much! I have to tolerate these people!" *slams Door*
"OW!!! MY FINGER!!!"
System: GameCube
Rated: E "For Everyone"
Story: *********
"The story is pretty crazy, and funny.
It's a beautiful prairie, bathed in green, blue, and other vibrant colors.
Then a pair of Magnemite float by carrying a pretty big TV. The Pokemon
deliver the TV to your house. Then the TV magically turns on! Prof. Oak
appears on the screen and tells you that you are the first tester of Pokemon
Channel! Yippee!
“Pikachu, Treeko, and Torchic appear watching TV with you, and the rest of it is for you to find out. In other words, play the game! I took off a point because Mudkip doesn't appear with the 3 Pokemon... Well, at least I think that's why I took it off...”
Graphics: **********
"The graphics scored a perfect 10!
The graphics are awesome, and really 3D. With even shadings, it's like
the Pokemon Stadiums, Coliseum, and Gale of Darkness games!
"I just love these graphics, each Pokemon comes with their own 3D card too!"
Music and Sound: *********
"The music is what you would think,
Pokemon-themed music, but when it's raining, no music plays, you just hear
raindrops. Besides, if you like the game as much as I do, you barely even
notice the music or sound!"
Levels: ******
"There aren't really many levels, only
3, and they aren't really levels, they’re areas you can travel to. The
more annoying thing is that some levels can only be accessed at a certain
time, and since the game is synchronized with the GameCube's internal clock,
some places can be accessed at night, and others in the morning!
"What about school? And I always sleep late on weekends! I didn't see Celeby 'til summer vacation, OF THE NEXT YEAR!"
Channels: ********
"Since channels aren't part of the
levels I made a different section for them. There are a few channels, when
you start the game, and everyday at 5:00 AM you get about 2 or 3 new channels.
KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS JUST A VIDEOGAME. I'll explain a few of the channels."
Shoppin' Squirtle
Available: Day 1
Here you can buy things for your room
(IN THE GAME), like wallpaper, Pokedolls, posters, etc...
Slowpoke's Forecast
Available: Day 2
This is- *death music starts playing...*
-the weather channel. NOOOOO!!! I hate this channel more than any others.
It takes him like 8 to 10 minutes to give the forecast, and sometimes I
desperately NEED the weather to change!
Pichu Party Anime: Part 3
Available: Day 3
There are 5 parts to this show, each
one lasts about 5 or 6 minutes each, one airs everyday since Day 1.
Chum Chum Rankings
Available: Day 4
This is the ranking channel, the first
question is We Asked 100 Pokemon... and then something else comes
up about what was asked. Seriously, once they said: "Do you prefer, peanut
butter, or jelly?". Seriously, they said that. The second ranking is the
Top 5 Pokemon, whch shows the top 5 Pokemon (duh). The last one
is really annoying and snoopy, they say _______'s Secrets. It has different
questions, every time it has things like, minutes watching TV (Pokemon
Channel, not real TV), Nice Cards collected, most watched show, time visited
someplace, etc...
Screen Projector
Available: Day 5
It's not really a show, but a form
to watch Pichu Party Anime, in Full Version. It projects the screen into
the night sky.
Secret:
There is a Japanese version of a certain
show. It's hosted by a girl whose Japanese name is Kasumi. Pokemon fans
should know this!
Gameplay: *********
"This would have scored an 8, but I
gave an extra point because you can play a virtual version of the Pokemon
Mini, and you can also buy virtual cartridges too!"
"The game is played in sync with the GameCube's internal clock (like mentioned before). If you play it everyday you can, no matter what, beat the game in 5 days, our time. Seriously, I mean it. That's why this didn't score a 10. I would've liked it if it lasted a little bit longer, but that's my opinion.
"Anyway, it's played like if you’re watching TV. You surf channels, and find something you like. There are a variety of channels to watch, my personal favorites being Shoppin'Squirtle, Odd One Out (it's like a quiz show in which you guess odd or even and win money), and Hatch Up PokeEgg, which is where you guess what type of Pokemon will hatch for a cash prize.
"You also go through a region from close to where you live, and find Pokemon! They will almost always ask you a question, and if guessed right, they will give you a Nice Card!
"I also like the Smeargle Paint System. With this item (which you get on the second day of the game) you can paint scenes of the Pokemon Anime: Pichu Party, which can only be seen in this game! Lnd later on, you can paint scenes of any channel, even a blank screen! Well, if the TV is turned on.
"I got the game with E-Reader cards, which you can use to paint cool Pokemon with Smeargle Paint. If the game is new (like mine), it comes with 3 E-Reader cards to scan, but if it's used, it usually doesn't...
"This is too much now... To the next section!!!"
Controls: ********
"The controls are pretty simple, but
I gave it an 8, because you can't control Pikachu.
“The controls are pretty simple: A to choose, B to cancel an action, C-Stick to pet Pikachu, control stick to move the cursor, L and R to change channels, and Z to turn on and off the TV, which is pretty useless, unless you don't want Pikachu to learn how to use the TV."
Characters: **********
"This scores a perfect 10! A lot of
really rare Pokemon appear in this game, including Jurachi, Celeby, Lapras,
Latias, and Latios.
" I don't remember how many exactly, but there are more than 98 Pokemon that appear in this game, including Pikachu.
"I also like the fact that you make your own character, well only name because you can't see your character. I also think it's good that Prof. Oak appears in a game again."
Difficulty: *****
"This game is pathetically easy, and
takes a lot of time to beat, but at least it is pretty fun."
Replayabillity: ********
"This game is worth playing again,
I know because I've played it 5 times! I erase and beat, and repeat.
"I usually do it because it's cool to start over and see what else you can do while playing it again.
"The one bad thing is that it's not worth collecting all the Nice Cards again, or getting the cartridges for the Pokemon Mini. That's why I took off 2 stars."
Fun Factor!: ********
"This game is really fun… in my opinion,
okay? I really like this game, I got for my 10th birthday, in 2005! Imagine
that 3 years of Pokemon-themed TV... Awseome..."
Overall: *********.3636363636363636363636363636364
"Well that’s what came up on my calculator...
But my opinion is:"
Overall: *
"Just Kiddin'!"
Overall: *********
"A big, fat, juicy 9!!! I would have
given it a 10, but it lacked a lot of my favorite Pokemon... I recommend
this game for Pokemon fans, Mario fans, or any Nintendo fan! It's a really
good game, and I think it's worth it."
