My first game ever on the Wii, this is the free included game with the purchase of the Wii, which has a big reputation to live up to.
Story: N/A
There is no story involved. I can’t
give it a rating of 1, because that would unfairly give it a low score.
Controls: 8
Quick, simple, easy to remember controls.
Just the way I like it. Most of the controls are just moving the Wii controller
in certain ways, sometimes while holding a button or two. The reason I
did not give this category a ten is because of how bad the controls are
for golf. (I’ll give you more details when I talk about golf.)
Graphics: 7
I’m here to dismiss the word of how
bad and last century these graphics are! All the other Reviews on Lemmy’s
Land for this game have just trashed this category, but I cannot do the
same. Sure, these graphics may not be as perfect as they could be, but
I still think these are above average graphics. The part I really like
is the creating your Mii part. Me and my friends were surprised by how
identical the Mii’s looked compared to the actual person we were designing.
Major thumbs up there.
Sound: 6
Eh, not completely horrible background
music. It isn’t at all catchy. The cool thing is the announcer’s voice.
I find it pretty neat, and so I’ll give it an ok grade in this category.
Characters: 10
You can create as many Mii’s as you
want. It’s cool that during baseball you can use created Mii’s to replace
the made up ones by the system, which will make the games seem a little
better, for reasons I don’t know.
Dialogue: N/A
The characters don’t talk amongst themselves,
and I can’t count what the announcer says because he just says what is
necessary.
Sports: I’ll rate and evaluate each sport individually.
Tennis: 8
A pretty good game to play. When you
enter a good rally the game can seem pretty intense. You can play doubles
by controlling two players, or for an easier time you can have a CPU as
a partner. However the few downsides to this game is that you can’t aim
for where you want to hit the tennis ball, which can be frustrating if
there is an open spot and you can’t hit it there for the point. Still a
good game.
Baseball: 9
This is sure to be one of your favorites.
Everyone will tell you that this is a pitcher’s game and you’re lucky to
get one run an inning. However I normally get two to three runs an inning,
and find hitting much easier then pitching. You get to use all the extra
Mii’s you created for additional players. The thing I don’t like is the
games are too short. With only three innings, these games go by too quickly.
I know nine would take too long, but it would be better if you played six.
Still this is my second favorite game.
Bowling: 10
This is by far the cream of the crop.
The controls are simple and easy to learn and master. You will love this
game; it’s so fun to play. The best thing is that it’s almost effortless
to get strikes and spares. You can aim so well that you can throw just
inside the edge of the gutter and the ball will hang on the edge and knock
the pin over at the end.
Golf: 2
Even Tiger Woods would find this hard,
stressful, and annoying. I absolutely hate this game and everything it
stands for. Nintendo should be lucky I was nice and gave it a 2 instead
of its well deserved 0. Anyway, it is almost impossible to make a putt.
The power is too hard to get exact, and when you try to do a short, easy
putt the club won’t swing, making you mad, so you hit it hard and overshoot.
Not to mention the ball gets so much unnecessary spin.
Boxing: 6
Boxing is a pretty cool game, except
for the multiplayer part, where it is hard. This is the only game that
requires use of the nunchuck as well as the Wiimote. The whole punching
and dodging part is really fun, but the controllers react to your movements
poorly. The movements you do will frequently not result in the same movement
you want.
Multiplayer: 8
All the games are pretty fun to play
with others, especially with a competitive group of people. The only thing
is it takes way too long to golf with others, and you don’t even realize
that when you buy a second controller it doesn’t come with another nunchuck,
so until you get one you can’t box with other people.
Fun Factor!: 8
This game seems really fun at first,
and it seems like you will never get bored, but you will. This game is
not lengthy at all, and becoming pro takes only a little time. You will
get bored with beating the CPU, as the opponents do not get more difficult
as you get better.
Overall: 7
Look on the bright side, it’s free!
If it did cost money I would not recommend wasting your money on it, but
since it’s free, wait until 2 or 3 weeks before you buy another game. Don’t
bother selling it because the multiplayer is pretty fun.
