Super Mario Sunshine Review

By Nintenbro0

Today I'm reviewing possibly my favorite Mario game, the sequel to Super Mario 64, everyone’s favorite 3D adventure, Super Mario Sunshine! I rate on a 0 to 5 star scale. 0=bad and 5=good! I liked this game so much I did (and am still writing) a guide for it. My main goal today is to show you Crazy Packers Fan (The God of Reviews) was way too harsh on this game!

Players: 1
Genre: Action
Rating: E
System: GameCube
Price: 30$

Okay, Mario and Peach are on a plane flying... somewhere, it never tells. Then they notice a beautiful vacationing spot. Their monitor shows some video of it. Peach notices a weird, black person in the background. Mario and Toadsworth don't pay attention to her because they are daydreaming. They land on the island and find tons of paint everywhere. Mario is framed and then sentenced to clean up the island along with FLUDD, a water squirting device. *pants from talking to much*

Gameplay: This entire game is spent trying to rescue the princess and defeat all your enemies! It is a 3D platformer and an awesome game!

Graphics: *****
This was perfect. The graphics still amaze me 7 years later. What I like about them is they are so beautiful, bright, sunny places with beautiful grass. Like Pinna Park: half of it is an amazing amusement park, while the other half is a garden full of flowers and trees. Besides the scenery, Petey Piranha, a Piranha Plant-like creature, is very well designed. And who can forget Big Boo! He has an enormous tongue and wears a spectacular crown. He lives under anamazing casino on Sirena Beach. This is all beautiful and all, but could CPF be right and it is all eye-candy?

Sound: *****
Super Mario Sunshine has 2 perfect scores! Wow! I'll begin with voices. They actually have Peach, Bowser, and the adorable Baby Bowser all talking! The voices sound just right and are very nice to hear. Now the effects! The sound effects were perfect, like when Mario squirts his water. It sounds extremely good and accurate. When the waves in the ocean move, you here a swift brush of water! And the best, music! The music sounds great. Like Defino Plaza's, I can't describe it well so try listening to it on Lemmy's CDs! But I give my word it is amazingly good!

Length: *****
I know you’re thinking I'm crazy and I should pay attention to the screen, but this is true! The game is perfect! It keeps you playing long enough that you don't beat it in 5 days, but it is short enough it doesn't take 5 years! The length doesn't get any better than what it is.

Difficulty: *****
Please don't say I'm a moron because I giving it amazing scores, but this game deserves it! This game has easy levels and medium and hard. But none of them are impossible. An example of easy is Bianco Hills Episode 1, an example of medium is Ricco Harbor Episode 5, and an example of hard is Sirena Beach Episode 3. But all you need to beat them is a little thinking. The only complaint is the camera. In some parts of the game this did distract me for a couple of seconds, but nothing huge. This game was maybe even a tad bit too easy with the exception of the Lily Pad River.

Replayability: ***
Sure I'd play this game again! I'd play it again, but I wouldn't enjoy it. Playing through it once was enough. It would be a lot more fun just playing around after you beat the game. I think the game did have a factor in length for a second game, but overall this game is the same as Paper Mario, if you could play after winning. You just wanna play around, not play it all over. Do you follow?

Characters: ***
Well I do love the characters in this game, but it was the same as Super Paper Mario: too many new ones! I didn't see a Goomba or a Koopa or even a Hammer Bro! They should have brought back more than the Pokey, Boo, and Blooper. At least the Goomba, it is the most well known minor enemy! I mean, who are the Piantas? Then again... it is a new island so Mario would need new enemies, but they still could have included more. Other than that they brought back Yoshi, Mario, Peach, Bowser, and more! And a little secret: the raccoon thing that gives you Shine Sprites for blue coins is a Tanookie!

Controls: ****
The controls were easy to remember and easy to use, but there were too many of them. I only used half the moves. So overall the controls were still pretty good.

Levels: *****
Every single level was beautiful. They were awesome! More than amazing and cool. Every level has a tropical design and everything feels like you’re on vacation somewhere!

Delfino Plaza: A beautiful city!
Bianco Hills: A beautiful town!
Ricco Harbor: Well this feels like you’re in a fishing spot or something.
Gelato Beach: A great fun beach good for surfing and building sandcastles.
Pinna Park: Disney!
Sirena Beach: A romantic beach and casino!
Noki Bay: A cliffside place kinda like the Grand Canyon.
Pianta Village: What else? A fun, cool village!

Each level also has unique enemies and design!

Items: ***
Not too many items, only a few like Yoshi Egg and fruit. They left out Mushroom and Fire Flower. Sadly! But at least they still have 1-Ups!

Fun Factor!: *****
This was extremely fun! For example you can go to Noki Bay after beating it, and climb the mountain then dive off the top, and you go sky-diving! Or going to Pianta Village and- Oh, you mean fun things other than randomness! Well you can go Blooper surfing, ride a roller coaster, finally win on slot machines, and defeat an evil flying menace! So yes, I had lots of fun with this game!

Recommendation:
Yes! It is worth an entire GameCube! Even a Wii! This game is way more than eye-candy! It is flat-out amazing! This is probably in the top 100, maybe 50 or even 30 best games ever made! It even beats Super Mario Galaxy! So after this do you still believe CPF is right? This overall got 43/50, which is amazing, if you know what I mean.
