I really love this game; it’s one of my favorite games to play. I have a Nintendo DS, but I still love to play this game. I rate on a scale of 1-10; 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. So here is my Review of Yoshi’s Island.
Story: 9
I like watching
the little video clip at the beginning. I think it is pretty neat, and
it had a good plot. Yoshi’s Island DS had a pretty cheesy story, because
Kamek tried basically the same thing.
Controls: 10
How can you argue
with this rating; they’re easy to understand and to use. Also you can pick
how to throw eggs.
Music: 8
I like the music,
the only thing that is holding back those final points is that it can get
on your nerves. Sometimes it was a bit annoying and it can distract you.
Bosses: 10!
I loved the bosses!
This is the only reason I liked to play, well almost. The castles could
be pretty hard, and so could the bosses. Nintendo made the bosses harder
to beat, and there are more bosses in this game than in Yoshi’s Island
DS.
Levels: 8
I loved most
of the levels; I mostly hated the icy levels. Something else that made
me hold back from a 9 is that there was no desert area. I missed having
a Pokey boss like in New Super Mario Bros.
Minigames: 7
My favorite one
was the watermelon seed spitting. The others weren’t that good though,
and to play them you had to go back and play the levels again. They should
have had a minigame section on the menu screen.
Morphing: 8
The most common
was the helicopter, and you didn’t see the car mode much, only in Lakitu’s
Wall and the secret level Go Go Morphing! The others were very creative.
You could morph into a car, train, helicopter, mole, and submarine.
Level of Difficulty:
8.5
It was definitely
hard to beat. It took me a year to beat it when I first got it. I got Yoshi’s
Island DS for Christmas and beat it in two days! This game is a lot harder,
not that Yoshi’s Island DS isn’t hard.
Frustration: 7
In some parts
of the game you can get so frustrated, like when you are right near the
goal and you die.
Fun Factor!: 9.5
You can have
tons of fun with this game, solving tricky puzzles and stuff like that.
Addicting Level:
8
I say this because
it has a nice saving system. Some of these games like New Super Mario Bros.
force you to play longer because you can’t save. In this game once you
beat a level it saves automatically.
Fun in Secret
Levels: 6
These levels
are so FRUSTRATING! I have eventually found how to beat a few levels. I
guess they were meant to be that way, ANNOYING!
Final Boss: 9
I was so surprised
when I beat Baby Bowser. I was saying, Yes I beat it! Then Kamek comes
and supersizes him and makes him huge. In Yoshi’s Island DS I wasn’t surprised
because I knew what would happen.
Replaying the
Game: 9
You can play
it over and the menu screen changes. You can go back and try to get a perfect
score of 100 on each level and earn minigames. I have gotten a 100 on about
6 levels.
Ending Credits:
1
I hated just
floating through the clouds, it took like 5 minutes! The only thing I remotely
liked was the nice music at the end. If you turn it off it doesn’t save,
you just have to wait until the end. Yoshi’s Island DS had pictures for
you to look at, this was just crummy.
I love Yoshi’s Island and its sequel, but this game should be a classic. I love the gameplay and I know other people do too.
