Mario Superstar Baseball Review

By Fireball

Ah yes, another Mario sport... Some people may love it and some of you may hate Mario’s sport games. This will be my first Review, though, so I'll try to do my best. My scale will be from 1 to 5 stars.

Graphics: ***
They’re not really the best in the world, but they’re not the worst in the world. Some people may not agree, but in my point of view the graphics are just in between there. The fans are just plain paper, but I guess every baseball game I play is paper. There’s not much bad or good to say aboutthe graphics in Mario Superstar Baseball, really.

Sound: **
The music gets really annoying after awhile when you play it because you hear it over and over again. I would have liked it if they had better music in there. Let's face it, at Mario’s stadium it really stinks! I just hate that sound so much. The characters’ voices are not the best either. They’re good for some characters, but some of them are bad for others. Like Pianta and the Goomba! No squeak? This game’s music and voices need   improvement.

Story: *
The story is the worst ever! A letter drops from the ground to tell the Mario Gang there is a challenge over nothing? And you have to go around to people and play baseball against them just to get to Bowser! That is one of the worst stories I’ve ever seen in my entire life! You get people on your team if you beat them if you do the right things? Why don't they all just go against Bowser together and break down the rock?

Characters: ****
Now that's better. The characters in this game are very good. There are very good characters like Monty Mole, Hammer Bro, Dixie Kong and a ton more. There are so many characters to pick in the game it's sometimes hard to choose. You mostly look at their stats to see who you should choose, though, but Nintendo did a very great job with the characters in this game. I say very good job, Nintendo! Very good job indeed!

Difficulty: **
The game is not very hard at all. You can hit the ball very easily and can tell whether it's going to be a strike most of the time. Pitching is very easy for me. I’ve got a few tricks in the game. The star things really stink because they go foul sometimes and they can only get you a single, double, or if you’re lucky, a homerun. It's really hard to get one with the stars. I can get a homerun without the lame stars helping me out. I can do it myself! The stadiums are not that hard to play in. They can help you some of the times or they can make things worse. It all depends on luck, but Bowser’s place would be the hardest place of them all, I would say! Every time you aim for a homerun it gets stopped! Every time I hit a slammer out to space a Thwomp or something else will hit it and then the other team gets the ball to get me out!

Fun Factor!: ***
It's really better if you have friends playing with you so it can be more of a challenge than just playing the old computers. This game would be better if the computers were more fun to play against, but just get some friends over and start playing some ball. I have my friends over and we play Mario Superstar Baseball and we have a blast!

Overall: **
Mario Superstar Baseball is not that good to play. I think you should rent the game first before you buy it because the game is not as fun as it sounds. Just try it and if you like it, buy it, and if you don't like it, just don't buy it! It's as easy as that! You might like Slugfest or something better than this game.
