Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Review

By Fireball

This is the second Paper Mario game made, and here today I am going to review it and see it's ups and downs. Paper Mario: The  thousand year door is an RPG. I will make the scale from * for being bad to ***** for being awesome.

Graphics: *****
When you go against Hooktail there is other paper around her, making her look  like a real dragon instead of having a cheap old dragon. Nintendo did a very good job with the graphics for a paper game, I think. The ship, train, and everything all  look really good. Even the bosses have good graphics! There is nothing bad to be said about the graphics in this Paper Mario game, I say.  You may think some of the bad guys look cheap, but they’re not bad. They’re very awesome... for paper.

Sound: ***
The music is very good to listen to and to hum to yourself as well. I like listening to the Paper Mario music because it sounds so good I forget all  about the things in the world, lLike doing work or something like that. The music in the Shadow Palace is very bad! And the boss battle music is very  horrible to listen to! I hate listening to that! I hate a lot of the boss songs because they sound so evil it makes them sound bad! That's where the other  2 stars go away, because of some of the boss music... like Magus Von Grapple! That boss music it very bad. But I really enjoy the other music. I  love the music in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door!

Story: *****
The story is great! If you never played this before you’re just wondering what's going to happen next. It’s great at the start... Peach has to open this  box because she has a pure heart, and there is a map showing how to get the treasure! I just love playing it because I think it's really funny and  you never know what's going to happen. In addition to Mario you get to be Peach and Bowser. They all have a story. Mario is trying to save  Peach from somewhere (I won’t spoil where she is) while collecting the Crystal Stars, Bowser is trying to also trying to get the  Crystal Stars, and Peach is trying to get information on where she is and how to get out of there. The story is very great for  all them.

Characters: *****
I'm sorry for giving the game high ratings, but they’re true! Almost all the characters are new in this game! They have so many new people in this  game because you’re not near Toad Town, you’re in Rogueport instead! You’ve got all of Mario's partners, you’ve got Lord Crump and Grodus with their X-Nauts, you’ve got Punis, and you’ve got all new bosses too! The list goes on and on from here! Also there’s the people with Luigi. You see Luigi with a partner such as a Blooper, Goomba, etc, and he will tell you stories about the adventure he is having. You don't know if it's true, but sometimes his stories  get a little too long... Make that all the time!

Difficulty: **
The game is not that hard, really, and it's not easy as well. It depends what your stats are, really. I work on my stats all the time and I think the game is  easy to go though. Some battles are tough, but I find a way to get back and win the battle. The only super tough bosses are the Shadow Queen and  Bonetail. Maybe Smorg... but I find him easy to beat as well. So it's not that tough to beat. If you can't beat Chapter 1 or 2 you need to boost some stats quick! Chapter 7 is a tough place, as is its boss! It takes me a try or two to beat Lord Crump and Chapter 7.

Places: ****
The places are all great to go to! I really like Glitzville the best, though! I like how there are locker rooms and there is a supply room and  Grubba's room as well... There are really tons of rooms in Gliltville! Petalburg is an ok place as well. But the places I hate the most are Chapter 2 and  7's! I get so confused where to go a lot in the Great Tree! And in Grodus’s place I don't know where the doors  lead to, but I guess that's the point for that, really. It confuses me there, though... I really like the train one the most! I think it's a very good  idea for the train! The ship to the island is great too. It would have got ***** if it had better places in Chapters 2 and 7... mostly 2.

Controls: ****
The controls are not the hard to follow! It's really easy when you know how to do it. The controls in this game are so simple, even Bowser  could do it! The only problem about it is the control pad. I don't know which button does what for that. I never know what button to press if I want  to get to the map, partners, etc. This could have got a ***** if the control pad were easier.

Fun Factor!: ****
This game is very fun to be playing, and it's very humorous as well. I think anyone playing this game would have an awesome time playing and would never stop until being made to! I just love the jokes in this game! They are very funny and I think it would have got a ***** if it  had something to do after the end. You get to come back, but there is nothing to do but go to the board and help people. After that, what is there to do? Nothing, I tell you.

Overall: ****
I can play this game over and over again and it never gets old for me! My favorite chapters would be 3 and 6! I think you should buy this game for sure! But you should probably rent it first or something because you may not like it very much. If you don't like it, you’re crazy!
