Story: 7
They could have developed the story
a little more. This is the story: The Mario Gang find a letter from Bowser
saying he’s surrendered and wants to say sorry by inviting them to dinner.
They come over and it is a trap. Kamek shrinks them down and they have
to go back to Bowser's castle, but they are distracted by other problems.
So that’s the story. But first of all, Bowser is always lying so Mario
should know it was a trap. Second, how can Hammer Bro, Navel Piranha, and
Dry Bones just randomly appear and do evil stuff to Wiggler, Toadette,
and DK even if they they have part of the crystal? Oh, and there is another
thing I noticed. Mario and friends help them whether the boss has a part
of the crystal or not.
Graphics: 8
The graphics weren't too superior to
the other Mario Partys. Sometimes the screen gets a little blurry on the
character you are using. The graphics were really good even though it is
not as big as you see on the TV.
Characters: 7
There weren't any new characters, in
fact some that were in Mario Party 8 weren't even in here. Boswer Jr. is
the most pointless character in the game because he doesn't appear in a
minigame. In fact he doesn't even help Bowser in the final boss battle,
though he deserves it for replacing the Koopalings.
Board Gameplay: 9
The board gameplay is really good.
You finally get to use items instead of orbs again, and if you wished traps
would be in here, there are traps of different kinds to help you out. Some
will help the opponent, but most will help you. They were really creative
with the Stars by making different techniques to get one, like opening
jars to find one or wasting your money on a jar that's empty. The ? Spaces
make a huge difference too. Some have events that give you coins, some
will help you, and others will be a waste of time or be harmful to you.
Minigames Gameplay: 10
Each minigame is thought out differently
and takes advantage of your being tiny by making games where you dodge
soccer balls, drop from a chalkboard, and even shoot each other. It also
takes advantage of the microphone feature and the touch screen feature,
which makes you interact with the game. There are also boss minigames in
which you have to face a boss. Each boss requires strategy to defeat, especially
Bowser. He takes a lot of strategy to defeat.
Story Mode: 8
The story mode was really fun to play.
You have to go through 5 boards on which you have to finish with the most
Stars, without there being any bonuses. After you beat a board you battle
a boss. If you defeat the boss you move on, if you don't you have to try
to beat the boss again. If you lose to any of the COM on the board then
that character will go to the boss and lose even though some bosses are
so easy you can beat them without losing any health.
Puzzle Mode: 9
Every puzzle game from every other
Mario Party is here, plus there is a new one called Triangle Twisters.
I am okay with this mode. I didn't really like that some of the secrets
require puzzle mode.
Replay Value: 10
You have to earn MP points to climb
the ranks and get to the top, and find all the secrets, including ones
that they refuse to tell you about. You can also unlock all the minigames.
Why wouldn't you replay it if you’ve beaten it?
Overall: 9 1/2
This game is really good. I recommend
it if you like playing Mario Party. There were some flaws that weren't
so huge. So overall I give this game nine and a half Goomba's Rival badges.
