Name: Mario and
Luigi: Partners in Time
Rating: E
Price: Around
$30
Story: The aliens known as the Shroobs invade the Mushroom Kingdom’s past and take it over. Mario and Luigi must team up with their baby selves this time for another big adventure.
Graphics: 9.5
The graphics
were really nice. I would give this a ten, but I don’t think they were
completely perfect.
Game Controls:
9
I didn’t have
any trouble with these, but it’s hard controlling the Babies and the older
Brothers at first. They are really cool to use when you get the hang of
it, though.
The Adventure:
10!
I liked all of
the adventure, some of the puzzles were difficult but I liked them a lot.
Music: 8
Pretty nice music,
it’s pretty catchy.
Items: 8.5
They copied many
of the items from the “first” game, and added some more. I missed having
the nuts from the previous game, to heal just the two older or younger
Bros.
Moves: 9
The moves were
really good. There were moves on the “playing field” that helped get through
multi-step puzzles, like the ability to throw the Babies off the adults’
back. In battle they had great moves that did more damage to enemies than
in MLSS.
Bros. Items: 9
I really liked
the Bros. Items, but I took off a point for Smash Eggs and Mix Flowers.
The Mix Flowers never gave a lot of points, and the Smash Eggs I never
learned how to use. Trampolines were my favorite, and once you got an Ulti-Free
badge you could have a blast.
Badges: 7
I thought the
Ulti-Free Badge and the Pig POW badges were the best. The bad thing is
you can only wear one at a time, and when you go to Fawful’s Bean and Badge
you have to buy the best badges with beans you collect.
Difficulty: 8.5
The game had
some puzzles that made it hard. Also when you neared the end of the game,
bosses started having super forms such as Elder Shrooboid and Elder Princess
Shroob.
Addiction Level:
6
It’s kind of
hard to save in this game, you have to find a save block, but these were
more common than in the MLSS game. It makes the game harder and more frustrating
when you have to go on without a save block. Also when the bosses have
super forms you can’t save halfway through.
Enemies: 9.5
Quite a few enemies
were Shroob-based, like Spiny Shroopa, Shroobsworth, or Tashrooba. They
pretty much made every enemy a new makeover “Shroob style”, which I thought
was cool. I gave it a 9.5 because they didn’t copy much at all and the
enemies were fun to battle, but I won’t give it a full ten.
Bosses: 10!
I loved the bosses!
They were perfect! Some had strategy to them, others didn’t. They were
creative with the bosses and didn’t have Bowser be the hard final boss
that he usually is. The bosses were one of my favorite parts about this
game.
Locations: 8
The locations
were great! I loved their names and how they looked. I would give this
a ten, but one of the places wasn’t needed other than a sort of training
place. Her are all they major locations in the past in the order that you
come to them: Hollijolli Village, Bowser’s Castle, Toadwood Forest, Yoshi’s
Island, Yoob’s Belly, Gritzy Desert, Koopaseum, Gritzy Cave, Thwomp Volcano,
Toad Town, Star Hill, Star Shrine, and of course Shroob Castle.
Puzzles: 6
The puzzles were
ok, but pretty annoying. They delayed you from reaching a boss or a new
level or something, but this game wouldn’t be the same without the puzzles.
Fun Factor!: 10!
This game is
one of my favorites! I encourage all Mario fans and even non-Mario fans
to buy this game. You’ll have hours of fun (if your parents let you) battling
bosses, solving puzzles, and earning points for your stats.
