Super Smash Brothers Melee Review

By Misty Koopa

Console: The Gamecube, duh!

Release Date: December of 2001

ESRB Rating: Teen! That's right, this is the so far ONLY teen rated game that features Mario.

Background: It's time again! Everyone's back for another round of beating in Melee! This time the originals are joined by Zelda/Sheik, Link, Mewtwo, Pichu, Peach, Bowser, and many others. Everything is revamped with new features and items. And even all the other Pokemon from Gold and Silver are here to help!

Scoring Note: This game is rated on a scale of 10.

Graphics: 10

Oh my, they're great! Super Mario 64 is NOTHING compared to these.  Bowser looks like he has scales, Mario's overalls look real, Fox's fur looks real enough to touch. But they also did a great job on making what looks like pain on the fighters face, especially when you pause it. Once when Sheik was flying away, Bowser was on the ground panting.

Music: 10

Original music city! I liked what they did with the Mushroom Kingdom theme, and I love the Pokemon music.

Secrets: 10

There's secret characters and levels. Plus some of the rumors are true, like the doomship-like level. AND the Koopalings are mentioned in the Bowser Trophy, yay!!!

Difficulty: 8

Hard, very, very hard game. You get used to it quickly, but the challenges keep getting harder all the time...

Replayability: 10

You'll always wanna play this. Plus it could help kill time for those who really want the new DBZ game which comes out in a few months. Well, it's working for me anyway...

Fun Factor!: 10

It's hard yet fun! I like the challenges and all the other stuff and unlocking new characters.

Recommendation: If you're old enough and like these kinds of games and actually have the Cube, GET IT!!! If not... I pity you...
