STORY-5
Not much in the
way of story. Mr. Big has kidnapped all of the kids to turn them into druggies
(watch the movie), and Michael has to stop him. I have no idea why they
all look like Katy; at least the arcade version had more variety.
GRAPHICS-9
Almost perfect
for a Genesis game. Michael looks enough like in the movie for my tastes.
The zombies look cool and I love the fog effect in the woods. My only graphics
complaint is that nobody has a detailed face.
GAMEPLAY-10
This is my favorite
part. Much better than the Master System version. Your normal attacks all
spray out fairy dust, giving you a slight range. You have a specials button
that does different specials the longer you hold it: You can throw your
hat regularly, throw it far in both directions, and heavily damage all
on-screen enemies by making them dance. On certain stages if you save a
certain kid first and touch a blue orb that falls from the sky, you temporarily
get an invincibility bonus that turns you into Mecha-Jackson from the movie.
Each time you save all the kids on the stage, Bubbles comes in and leads
you to the boss.
FUN FACTOR!-10
Defeating lots
of enemies with punching, kicking, fairy dust, and dancing? What’s not
to love? The music also enhances the experience, even though the graveyard
doesn’t have Thriller. I love the ending credits. Wanna know why? Well
you’ll just have to beat the game and find out.
FINAL NOTE-7
I love this game. And most of you will too, provided you get good enough at it. It’s pretty loyal to the movie by having all the major sections, even though the graveyard wasn’t even in the movie.
