Bomberman Tournament Review

By Lord Seth

Genre: RPG

Platform: Game Boy Advance

Storyline: Some meteors fell from the sky and hit a planet. Some strange structures are built, and a really strong weapon is being created. Bomberman has to go and thwart the Evil Bomber's plans and save the
day (again). This is an RPG with a bit of Bomberman "feel" in it.

One of the first games for the Game Boy Advance, Bomberman Tournament! This game is a dead ringer for
Zelda, and there are many things in common with it. Example: you get an extra heart if you complete a
dungeon, you get better weapons as you go on, there's a dungeon map, you need to move things/defeat enemies to complete rooms in dungeons, etc. Still, it has a lot of that good ol' Bomberman action. Oh yeah,
there's also a bit of Pokémon added to the mix. This review will be out of five stars.

Graphics: ***

These aren't the best I've ever seen for the Game Boy Advance, but also aren't the worse. To be honest, it's only a little better than the graphics of a Game Boy Color.

Controls: *** 1/2

The controls are simple enough, but it's sometimes easy to mix them up. It is annoying to keep changing
Karabons or bomb types, especially because it takes several pushings of buttons. The most annoying thing,
however, is that you have to press the A button so many times to save a game! It says "Select a File" and "Are you sure?", etc., causing it to take too long.

Replayability: **

Although the game is fun while it lasts, after you win it it loses its appeal. Sure, you can battle with a friend or some friends, but that has a limited amount of fun.

Action: *****

This game has great action. It has that classic Bomberman feel where you bomb bosses and blocks, but the RPG factor is a bonus.

Fun Factor: **** 1/2

It's a great game, but is a bit on the short size. They should have made it longer... and show how much a
Game Boy Advance cartridge can hold.

Overall: ****

A great game, but it could be better. It's capable of better graphics, and should be longer. Still, any
Bomberman fan would want this, and also some Zelda fans.

Overall Recommendation

If you like Bomberman and/or Zelda games, this is a good game for you. However, if you don't, you might not want this. Although it states the type is RPG, overall I think that there's more action than RPG in the game.
