Platform: Game Boy Color
Type: RPG
Story: You're a trainer of Pokémon. You go to fight battles, thwart the plans of Team Rocket, etc. If you've played any other Pokémon games, you'll know it all. This, of course, will be out of five stars.
Storyline: **
There's not much OF a storyline. You go around and fight battles. That's almost it!
Replayability: *** 1/2
One of the best things (and that's saying something) about this is that there's a lot of replay value. Fight friends, catch more Pokémon, re-battle some people, etc.
Fun Factor: ** 1/2
The game's fairly fun until you get to the Elite Four, then it starts going downhill.
Graphics: **
The graphics were pretty good for its time, but nowadays they're almost primitive.
Controls: **** 1/2
Okay, maybe I was pretty lenient here, but it is easy to remember what button does what. What?
Gameplay: ** 1/2
It's somewhat interesting to battle
with people, but it gets old after a while. Or... maybe after the first
three
battles!
Sound/Music: * 1/2
Where's the original sound? Where's
the cool-sounding music in all the other games, like the forest music in
Bomberman Tournament, Hammer Brothers
battle music in Super Mario 3, boss music on Super Mario RPG, and so on.
The music and sound just isn't catchy, and gets so boring!
Overall: **
Although my ratings for the other categories were somewhat higher than this one's, they did not take into account one thing- Pokémon Gold. Gold and Silver are nearly identical, lowering this score. If only Nintendo had made them more different... or better yet, only made one! I think they should have skipped Gold and Silver completely and just made Pokémon Crystal.
Recommendation:
Don't buy this. If you absolutely, positively,
definitely need to get a Pokémon game, get Crystal. That at least
has a FEW additions to these games.
