Short Strategies: Page 3

Even Odds, by Lemmy Koopa.

Even Odds leaves you with 7 cards left in your hand, regardless of how many you had in your hand before
you used it.  It could be three and a half Supply Line in one!  This is a powerful card for any deck that likes to draw cards (every deck, that is).  The trick is to use what you are holding in your hand before you use this
card so that you get the maximum draw.  Although your opponent will also end up with 7 cards in their hand,
since it is your choice, not theirs, of when to use this card, you can make sure you are gaining more than
they are.  Of course, if you catch them with more than 7 cards in their hand, go for it!

Strict Rationing, by Lemmy Koopa.

Hm… opponent can not evolve a Minion in this land or move in an evolved Minion… hm…  Well, so what?
Actually it’s kind of important.  Most decks rely on evolved Minions… actually, I can think of only one deck
I’ve actually seen in which the owner wasn’t trying to evolve.  So if you were packing lots of these in your
deck, then maybe your opponent would never be able to evolve… but you can!  What do you think, Zombone versus Super Koopa?  This could make the battle really easy for you.  But make sure you have a lot in your
deck, and also a lot of Supply Line, because you need to get them in play fast and you’ll need to be able to
cover every land your opponent owns for maximum effect.  This card combines well with swarm decks, since they already require Supply Line.  Additionally, swarm decks already limit the number of lands the opponent
can hold.  Your basic swarming Minions will be better prepared to fight than the basic Minions your
opponent was intending to evolve.  Score some knockouts!

Embargo, by Lemmy Koopa.

Well, a couple of articles back I was talking about Energy Zap decks.  They work great, but if you have
enough Card Points to pack your deck with Embargo, an uncommon card, you could prevent your opponent
from playing Energy cards… ever!

It is nearly impossible to win a game without being able to play any Energy.  A swarm deck might have a
chance because they’ll still be able to take any lands you don’t already own.  That’s why you should combine
Embargo with your own swarm deck, complete with lots of common basics and Supply Line, so you can block them off and beat them back.

If you have enough Card Points to put many Embargo in your deck then do so.  Otherwise fill the balance
with Draining Resources and Midnight Raid to take care of any Energy your Embargo is unable to handle.
Your opponent won’t like losing this way… but that’s not your problem.

Shared Pain, by Lemmy Koopa.

Shared Pain, along with some strategy, can keep your powerful Minions in the game.  When your Minions are damaged, move them into a land where they will be safe.  When you have a bunch of damaged Minions,
move into that safe land some undamaged Minions and then use Shared Pain.  The damage will be split;
everyone in the land will then have only a little damage instead of some having a lot.  After the damage
trade, that Zombone that was almost dead is ready to come out as its bad self again.

To use Shared Pain, you need to have a lot of Minions in your deck to share the pain with.  It works best for
Minions that have a lot of HP, like evolved forms or Buzzy Beetles.  Consider combining this card with
Mushroom to remove all the damage from the Minion that’s most important to you.  Long life to him!

Honorable Discharge, by Lemmy Koopa.

If you don’t like Shared Pain here’s a way to make a second use of your Minions.  When a Minion you care
about is weak, use Honorable Discharge to pull him and all attached cards out of play and back into your
deck.  Although you’ll have to wait a while before having the use of that removed Minion again, it is better
than permanently losing that rare Minion to the discard.  Make sure you wait as long as the Minion is able to
survive before using Honorable Discharge so they can cause the most damage.  At the same time, don’t
allow your opponent to surprise you.  Make sure you know how much damage your opponent can do, and
don’t forget to consider that those basics or Stage 1s could evolve at any time.
