Unchained Chomp
Lemmy Koopa

I didn't realize how good this Stage 1 card is until I used it in a test deck.  When used properly, this Minion can tackle any foe, even though its attacks cause only modest damage.

Recall how regular battling works.  You must get a Minion, perhaps evolved, give it Energy, bring it to the front lines, and attack.  But an enemy in the front lines can be attacked also.  Suppose your opponent has a Zombone in play with four Energies.  Zombone can cause 50 damage, and take 100.  It will be very hard to knock him out, and it will probably cost you a full slew of Minions, Energy, and maybe even Spells.  Meanwhile, the rest of your opponent's troops are growing stronger.

This guide is not about how to use Zombone, however.  It's about Unchained Chomp.  His second attack, Free Range, costs three Energies and only does 30 damage.  Bad, right?  Wrong!  Look again.  The attack can be used to hit any enemy target in any land.  In other words, Unchained Chomp can attack whatever you want, including the theoretical Zombone, without being attacked itself.

When I use Unchained Chomp, I put him in one of the corner lands.  I then spread out to that corner's two borders, and I fill the two new lands with Basic Minions I don't mind losing.  Now Unchained Chomp is safe from attacks and can continuously assault the foe.  Use his attacks on strong enemies.  If there aren't any, look next to Minions that can become strong enemies.  Don't neglect those pesky Buildings and Foundations as well.  They're all game!

Unchained Chomp is an uncommon card, so he may be difficult to get.  Put as many as you can in your deck, and stick in a lot of Chain Chomps.  They're sturdy, common Basics that you can use to guard your corner, plus you need one to put Unchained Chomp on.  You will want a lot of Lightning Energy to make sure you can always attack.  With the rest of your deck, put in useful Spells.  I like Supply Line so you can get Unchained Chomp out faster, and Mushrooms to help keep Unchained Chomp or others alive in case the barrier has fallen or is about to.

Have fun using this card!
