This walkthrough is for explaining how to get through the World-e levels and get all of the A Coins and -e Coins. As there are cards to be released in the future, I will try and update this walkthrough whenever possible. This walkthrough will not list the individual cards themselves, aside from the levels. Check out King Koopa's Item Chest for all of the current cards.
I created this walkthrough for a number
of reasons. One is that I wrote a walkthrough for Super Mario Bros. 3.
Since this is, in a way, a continuation of SMB3, I felt that World-e deserves
to have a walkthrough too. Also, some of the levels are quite challenging,
and someone may have trouble collecting all of the A and -e coins.
Mushroom Houses
Blue Mushroom House: This Mushroom House takes 30 A Coins to unlock. Inside is a digging game that costs 30 gold coins to play. In total, there are four shafts. At the top, you can choose to dig down to the left and reach shafts one and two, or the right to reach shafts three and four. Once you've picked right or left and gone down a shaft, you'll reach the bottom. Only one of the four shafts has a prize at the bottom. I don't have any real advice since it seems to be random which shaft will have the prize. The prize can be a Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, Super Leaf, P-Wing, Frog Suit, Tanooki Suit, Hammer Suit, or a Starman. If you've scanned the Feather Card in World-e at least once, it too can become a possible prize.
The Red and Yellow Mushroom Houses require
more A Coins to enter than the current number of available A Coins.
Levels
Promo: Airship's Revenge
Difficulty: 3/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin?: No
How to get it: This card was included
with early copies of the game sold at Wal-Mart in the US. It's no longer
available at most Wal-Marts now. The only way to get it now would be eBay.
Who knows, it could be in a future issue of Nintendo Power or something.
It's also available for download as a save state for the Japanese ROM.
It's a doomship and it moves in many directions!
A Coin 1: It's near the start, just above the first ? Block.
A Coin 2: Not far after the first A Coin. It's out in the open, above a Rocky Wrench.
A Coin 3: After the part with the torches, there's a section where you move downwards, with the A Coin off to the right.
A Coin 4: After the downward part, you'll go right, and then up, and be at this next A Coin, which is also out in the open.
A Coin 5: Immediately after you get coin 4, travel right onto a small section with a Rocky Wrench, then jump up to a platform with the fifth coin. You'll need to be fast for this one.
Continue to the left, and make your way past two more cannons and torches. Then jump up to the pipe and enter to fight Morton. It's the exact same fight as it was in the original game, so just beat him and grab his wand to clear the level.
Level *1: Classic World 1-1
How to get it: Series 1
Difficulty: 1/5
A Coins: 1
-e Coin? No
This is the first level from Super Mario Bros., but in a SMB3 setting! Those of you who've played it (and who here hasn't?) will know exactly what to expect.
A Coin 1: Go through the level until you reach the pipe with the bonus area. It's the pipe before the first pit. You can also find a hidden 1-Up block like in the original SMB near the pipe. Go down the pipe and collect the A Coin in the bonus room.
Whether or not you choose to go after the A Coin, just continue onwards to the end. Grab the flagpole at the highest point to score more points. Now continue on to the goal.
Level 01: Wild Ride in the Sky
How to get it: Included with the game
Difficulty: 3/5
A Coins: 4
-e Coin? No
This sky stage starts off normally, but quickly becomes auto scrolling. You will have to be fast to get all of the A Coins before the screen scrolls away. Overall, it isn't too hard, except for the Bullet Bills near the end. These Bullet Bills come from off screen and move diagonally, like they sometimes do in Super Mario World.
A Coin 1: Work your way through the level to after the second power up, where you'll see a small stack of wooden blocks, at the bottom of which is a brick block you can hit with your tail for a coin. Right after these blocks are two rows of clouds. Run onto the lower row to get the first A Coin, and jump up to the higher row to avoid falling off-screen.
A Coin 2: After the first A Coin are three sets Donut Lifts. After the third set is are two more rows of clouds. Get onto the top row and stand on a donut lift there to get to the bottom row where the coin is. Now get back onto the top and continue.
A Coin 3: Shortly after the second A Coin is the third one. Wait until the screen scrolls down to reveal the clouds underneath it. Now's your chance to get down and nab the third coin. Don't waste time going after the coins in the multiple coin block.
A Coin 4: Keep going through the level and board the rail lift. When you're travelling along the rail left, you'll go right past this coin, which is fairly easy to get.
Now stay on the rail lift, which will
take you to the end of the level. Right at the end of the rail lift are
two Brick Blocks, the right one yields a 1-Up. You have to be fast to grab
it. Now go straight ahead to reach
the goal.
Level 02: Slidin' the Slopes
How to get it: Series 1
Difficulty: 2/5
A Coins: 4
-e Coin: No
This is a hilly level that you can slide your way through a lot of. It's pretty fun. You can even take the Boomerang from the Boomerang Bro and use it, though it won't serve much purpose near the end.
A Coin 1: This is out in the open near the start.
A Coin 2: Slide down the hill from where the first A Coin was, and use the Note Block to bounce across the gap. You should collect the coin as you cross.
A Coin 3: After crossing the gap, jump on top of the Note Blocks and enter the pipe. You should enter an area with the A Coin behind a pair of flippers. Go past the flippers and keep running. You should travel along a long series of Triangle Blocks. Don't let go, especially at the area where there's Munchers beneath you. At the end is the A Coin.
A Coin 4: Go back through the pipe into the main level. Continue going right, and you should see the fourth A Coin in the air. Jump off of an enemy or the hill to the right to reach it.
Once you reach the top of the hill, you can slide all the way down to the goal.
Level 03: Vegetable Volley:
How to get it: Series 2
Difficulty: 2/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin? Yes
This desert level is full of roots! Be careful, because some of them contain Poisonous Mushrooms!
A Coin 1: Go right from the start and you'll come across the first coin in a pit. Throw a vegetable at it to collect it.
A Coin 2: Continue to the right, past the Chain Chomp. You should see the second coin above a Chargin' Chuck. Just jump at it and it's yours.
A Coin 3: Just after the second coin, you should see it beneath some blocks, guarded by a pair of Chargin' Chucks. Take out one of the football players and nab the third coin.
-e Coin: Continue going right until you see a Koopa Troopa on a ledge above you. Jump onto the ledge and over the wall. Walk into the hole and pluck the two roots. One has a 1-Up while the other has the -e Coin.
A Coin 4: There's an invisible Note Block you can use to get out of the hole against the right wall. Get out and back to the lower part of the level. Go right some more and you'll see a LOT of Spinies in an enclosed area. The fourth coin is right above them. Take out the Spinies with vegetables, fireballs or hammers to get the coin safely.
A Coin 5: Immediately after the fourth coin is the fifth. This one's in a hole like the first, so throw a vegetable at it and it's yours.
Now just get past the Chain Chomp and head to the goal.
Level 04: Doors o' Plenty
How to get it: Series 1
Difficulty: 4/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin? Yes
This is a ghost house, like from Super Mario World. The Boo Diddlies can get annoying if you're not careful. At the end is a fight with the Big Boo too.
A Coin 1: Go through the first door that you can reach and enter the "maze". Go up and to the left and pick up the key. Now work your way down to the left to the next door and enter it. On this level, enter the rightmost door. Now that you're back in the maze, go right, down, left, left, and up to reach the first A Coin.
From the first A Coin, go top the topmost
part of the maze. From there, go left over the flippers and unlock the
door. If you fall through you can always try again. In this room, hit the
? Block and a coin train will come
out. Guide the coins underneath the
door in midair. Now, grab a coin near the door if you're small so you can
pass through when you hit the P-Switch, but not the coin right under the
door. Hit the P-Switch and stand on the blocks to enter the door. In this
next room, hit the P-Switch Quickly go down to the bottom and up
to the middle shaft. In the right shaft there's three rows of coins. Grab
either the rightmost or leftmost coins, but not any in the middle, as when
the coins turn back into blocks, you'll need a middle coin to enter the
door. Enter the door when the P-Switch runs out. Grab the -e Coin in this
room.
A Coin 2: In the room with the -e Coin, hit the P-Switch and go back through the door. In this room, enter the bottom left door to return to the maze. Now, go down, down, left and up to get the second coin.
A Coin 3: From the second A Coin, go up and keep to the right. Now, go down to the bottom and to the left a bit to get the third coin.
A Coin 4: Keep going left after the third A Coin, Go as far left as possible, then up and enter the door. Go over to the left and collect the fourth coin.
A Coin 5: After getting the fourth coin,
go over to the right and grab the Yellow P-Switch. Jump up two levels and
go all the way to the right. Do not enter this door. Press the P-Switch
to fill in the transparent ! Blocks.
Stand on the ! Blocks and hit the Brick
Block to reveal a vine. Climb to the top and move over to the platform
to the left. From there, you can reach the final A Coin.
Now, climb to the top of the vine and go right. Enter the door to fight the Big Boo. Wait until he becomes solid, then pick up a grab block and jump at it. The only way to defeat him is with three grab blocks. The two Boo Diddlies cannot be killed by any means. Once Big Boo is killed, the level ends.
Level 05: Bombarded by Bob-ombs
How to get it: Series 2
Difficulty: 4/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin? No
This is an unusual tank level. The first
pipe just takes you inside a tank, only now you're in an enclosed area,
making it harder than the first part. At the start is a Countdown Block.
If you hit it and grab enough coins
(110), you'll be rewarded with three
extra lives. Most of the A Coins are ridiculously easy to get.
A Coin 1: This one's out in the open.
A Coin 2: Enter the pipe. You'll find this easy coin just sitting underneath a row of blocks.
A Coin 3: A bit later on, you'll see this coin out in the open as well.
A Coin 4: Now we get to a tricky one! When the pipe appears, don't go down it. In the top right corner is a hole that small Mario or Luigi can jump through. Any powered up character will have to do a ducking jump to squeeze through. In this hidden area lies the fourth coin.
A Coin 5: Go down the next pipe and you'll see yet another coin out in the open.
Go down the next pipe and beat Boom Boom. That's all she wrote!
Level 06: Magical Note Blocks
How to get it: Series 1
Difficulty: 3/5
A Coins: 3
-e Coin? No
Most of this icy cave level consists of Note Blocks. You'll need to bounce your way up to the top to reach the goal. It's a fun level, but the controls can be frustrating at times.
A Coin 1: Enter the pipe and you'll enter the main section of this level, which mostly consists of Note Blocks. Work your way upwards until you see the first A Coin trapped inside some Note Blocks on the left side. Simply bounce over off the right side of the screen to emerge on the left and grab the coin.
A Coin 2: Go up from the first coin and you'll reach an area with a lot of scattered Note Blocks. The bottommost two contain a Super Leaf and a Starman. Bounce up to the wooden blocks and defeat the Fire Chomp however you can. Go up a bit more and you'll be able to get the A Coin, which is in the middle of the screen.
A Coin 3: Bounce all the way to the top, but don't enter the pipe yet. See the A Coin at the top right. You have to bounce off of a Note Block over the left side of the screen and emerge on the right to reach another Note Block where you can easily reach the final A Coin.
From here, just go up the pipe to be taken to the goal.
Level 07: The ol' Switcheroo
How to get it: Series 2
Difficulty: 3/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin? Yes
In this desert/dungeon level, you must hit P-Switches to form bridges across lava pools. It's actually a lot more fun than it sounds, but take too long, and you'll take a lava bath!
A Coin 1: Go down the waterfall near the start and grab the first A Coin. Be careful not to fall down into the abyss!
A Coin 2: Go right from A Coin 1 and
enter the pipe. Hit the P-Switch to turn the coins into blocks, and hurry
across the lava. Near the end, you'll see a single block sticking out.
Hit it to reveal another P-Switch. Hit it
to keep the switch power in effect.
Go over to the right and grab the second coin.
A Coin 3: Now that you have another P-Switch activated, go right and enter the pipe. In this room are two upside-down pipes. Stand on the blocks and enter the left pipe. By now the P-Switch should wear off. Ride the platforms upwards and collect the third coin.
A Coin 4: Keep going to the top of this room and enter the pipe. Swim up the waterfall and grab the fourth coin.
-e Coin: Go back down the waterfall and back through the pipe. Continue downwards to the bottom of this room and go down the right pipe. Now, pluck the root, and don't let go of B! Head through the right pipe to the next room. Continue into the next pipe and you'll be in another lava room. Youknow the drill. Hit the P-Switch and get across without losing the vegetable. On the right side, you'll see the -e Coin trapped between some blocks. Throw the vegetable at it to collect it.
A Coin 5: Now, go up the pipe to return to the upper area. Now, go right a bit and swim up to get the final A Coin.
Now, go back towards the pipe and head to the waterfall on your left. Swim up it and enter the pool. Above the surface is a row of invisible blocks, one of which holds a 1-Up. Jump out of the pool and go over to the right to reach the goal.
Level 08: Piped Full of Plants
How to get it: Series 1
Difficulty 4/5
A Coins: 3
-e Coin? No
This level is made almost entirely out of pipes. Almost every pipe contains a Piranha Plant, Venus Fire Trap, or a Muncher.
A Coin 1: Start playing through the level. You'll see this coin easily, but to get it you'll have to stand on the pipe to the right of it and time your jump so you can land on the left pipe without getting hit by a Piranha Plant or a fireball.
A Coin 2: Continue to the right and you'll see a Roulette Block. Get a power up from the block, preferably a Starman, so that you can get the next coin easily. Now get across the pipes with the Munchers and you should come across this next A Coin.
A Coin 3: Continue through the level and enter the pipe leading to the goal. On top of the pipes near the goal is the last coin. Do a running jump to get on top of the pipes while avoiding the Venus Fire Traps, and the final coin is yours.
Now just run over to the goal and that's the end of that.
Level 09: Swinging Bars of Doom
How to get it: Series 2
Difficulty 4/5
A Coins: 4
-e Coin? No
This fortress features Firebars from the original SMB castles, in addition to Bony Beetles, a Lil' Sparky, and a Thwimp from Mario World. Proceed with caution.
A Coin 1: Work your way over to the right, dodging anyone that gets in your way. Just after the ? Block which contains a Fire Flower is the first coin.
A Coin 2: Continue to the right and you'll see this A Coin atop a long Firebar. The best way to get this coin without getting singed is to jump over from the right side to the left.
A Coin 3: Continue across the lava pits, and you'll get a choice between an upper and a lower path. Take the upper path and jump into the hole in the ceiling to avoid a Lil' Sparky and snag some extra coins. Now continue along the top path while avoiding more Firebars to get the third coin.
A Coin 4: Keep going to the right. Drop down the shaft just to the right of the one with a ? Block containing a Super Leaf. You'll see the coin above a pair of flippers. To the right of the flippers are some invisible blocks you need to hit. Now go back up the shaft and to the right so that you can drop down onto the now visible blocks. Be careful of the Firebars and the Boo Diddly. Now you can easily get the final coin.
Now continue to the right, dodging a few more Firebars and another Boo Diddly. Enter the door and prepare to fight two Boom Booms at once! The best way to fight them is one at a time, so that you can focus on one without the other one acting all hyper. Keep in mind that one of the Boom Booms can fly. Once they're defeated, the level's over.
Level 10: Para Beetle Challenge
How to get it: Series 2
Difficulty 5/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin? No
This sky level is similar to 5-6 from the normal game, but it's WAAAAY harder IMO. You might want to use a P-Wing if you're having trouble.
A Coin 1: Hop across the Parabeetles near the start to collect this coin.
A Coin 2: Continue hopping across the Parabeetles and you can get this next coin.
A Coin 3: Now the screen will start to scroll upwards. As it does, you should come across the third coin.
A Coin 4: You'll notice two Parabeetles flying from the left. Ride the higher one up to the fourth coin.
A Coin 5: Keep one of the Parabeetles near the bottom of the screen. Now use the higher one to get over the wall. Now keep your balance on the lower one, without making it soar to high, so you can grab the final A Coin, whichis underneath a block formation.
The screen will start to scroll even faster now. You'll have to be very careful about keeping your balance as you hop across the Parabeetles to the end. Before you enter the pipe, jump on top of the blocks to find a hidden 1-Up. Now go through the pipe to reach the goal.
Promo: Fortress of Spikes (my title)
Difficulty: 5/5
A Coins: 5
-e Coin?: No
How to get it: Part of a downloadable
save state of the Japanese ROM
A good portion of this fortress has floors of spikes, and your only means of getting across is using enemies as stepping-stones.
A Coin 1: Near the start, out in the open, above a few giant enemies.
A Coin 2: Before you go down the pipe at the end of the first room, purposely make yourself small if you aren't, then go down the pipe. Hit the P-Switch and run left to a pipe covered by two coins and two blocks. Grab a nearby vegetable (or two) and throw it at both coins while the switch is in effect to get rid of them. If you screw up, you'll have to restart the level. When the switch wears off, the two bricks will turn back into coins and you can go down the pipe. Go down it and you'll be in a room with the second A Coin, which is surrounded by a layer of bricks and coins. Jump up and collect the two bottommost coins on the right side. Then go right a bit and hit the brick block to reveal a P-Switch. Hit it and you'll be able to jump up and grab the second A Coin.
A Coin 3: Go right a bit, and you'll see the A Coin above a group of Dry Bones. Bounce off of one of them to nab it.
A Coin 4: Go right and up the pipe. If you want a Mushroom, you can go left past the three Piranha Plants. Go right, past the first Flurry and the pipe, to a second Flurry running around on a spiked floor. Jump onto the Flurry and he'll move either right or left depending on which side of it you're on. Ride the Flurry to the right, making sure to duck if you're big. You can ignore the block you'll pass, since it contains a 1-Up and is hard to get. The Flurry will take you to the fourth A Coin.
A Coin 5: Ride the Flurry back across the spikes and go up the pipe. Get across the next spiked section by jumping on enemies, and you'll see the fifth A Coin in between two pipes, guarded by Paratroopas. Try to jump so that you'll grab the A Coin while landing on a Paratroopa and bounce off to the side.
Go right and you'll pass a ? Block with
a Fire Flower, which is hard to get because of the narrow gaps of lava.
Go through the door, and run across the gaps to fight Boom Boom. Beat him
to finish the level.
Well, this is it, until Nintendo releases Series 3 and 4, or includes Airship's Revenge or some other promotional card in Nintendo Power or something. For now, just enjoy the new levels and the old ones to your heart's content!
