Super Mario Galaxy Boss Guide

This guide will explain the strategies about the bosses, as well as their difficulty out of 10. This guide does not include prankster comet bosses.

Dino Piranha
Difficulty: 2/10
A very easy boss to start with. After you start the battle by landing on him, go behind him and spin that little ball on his tail. Then his egg will break. Keep spinning into his tail until he is defeated.

King Kaliente 1
Difficulty: 3/10
Another easy one. When he spits a coconut at you, spin into it and it will fly back and hit him. Do this 3 times to beat him. The second and third times you spin into a coconut, he will block it. Spin into it again.

Bugaboom
Difficulty: 4/10
To defeat him you must grab a Bee Mushroom and fly up and ground pound him 3 times. After the first time, he will fly fast around the arena so it will be a bit hard to get him.

Megaleg
Difficulty 5/10
Woah. That’s a big robot. Don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it seems. Make your way to the leg of the bot and climb your way up while avoiding Bullet Bills. Once you are at the top, lure a Bullet Bill into smashing into the cage. Then the emergency Bullet Bill cannons and a revolving cage around the Grand Star will appear. Lure a Bullet Bill into the revolving cage, and another into the cage holding the Grand Star. Once you do that, Megaleg will explode and you will have your first Grand Star!

Kamella 1
Difficulty: 5.5/10
She flies around the ship, hurling fireballs at you. But she sometimes hurls green shells. Spin near a shell to pick it up, then hurl it back at her. When you have hit her twice, she summons 2 Magikoopas to help her. I suggest you get rid of them first, otherwise you will be overwhelmed with fireballs. Once you hit her the third time, you win.

Tarantox
Difficulty: 6.5/10
Use the sling pod to reveal this creature, then use the sling pod to hit the glowing button on his rear. This will flip him over and reveal 3 more glowing buttons. Hit each of them to flip him back. Repeat to defeat him.

Topmaniac
Difficulty: 6/10
He fights with 2 tiny Topmen by his side. You must jump on him to take away his spikes, then spin him into the electric wall. Do this 3 times to win. The second time you face him, the battle is the same except he fights with 2 normal Topmen by his side.

Bowser 1
Difficulty: 7/10
Jump over the shockwaves that he sends out, then stand by one of those blue circles on the ground and Bowser will land on it, burning his tail. When he runs away, run where he is heading, and when he turns around from you, spin into his tail, and when he comes sliding around, spin into him again. Repeat twice to win your second Grand Star.

Bouldergeist
Difficulty: 7.5/10
He will bring up rocks from the ground and hurl them at you. If a black rock hits the ground, a Bomb Boo will come out. Use it to attack him. After 3 hits he will turn into a weird floating black blob with a red bubble hanging off it. Hit the bubble with a Bomb Boo that he leaves behind. When you do that, he will revert to his rock form with 2 huge floating hands that can punch you. They can also make rocks rise out of the ground to trap you. Spin into the rocks to break them. Repeat the previous strategy to defeat him.

Bowser Jr.
Difficulty: 7/10
While avoiding the swarms of Bullet Bills, spin or jump on the Koopa Troopas to get their shell. Throw it at Jr’s airship. After 3 hits, he will face you. Hit him 2 more times to get your third Grand Star.

Major Burrows
Difficulty: 7/10
You have to ground pound near him when he is half above the soil, then spin into him. Do this 3 times to win. After the second hit, he will go very fast. Just ground pound very quickly.

Baron Brrr
Difficulty: 4/10
This is not hard. All he can do is summon a shockwave. You must spin near him, then run into him 3 times. After the second time he will summon 2 Brrr Bits to help him. It is still easy.

Bowser 2
Difficulty: 8/10
This is much like the first battle, only Bowser has learned a new move: dark spin. This move is like Mario’s star spin, but is the color purple instead of white. Use the previous strategy to win.

Undergrunt Gunner
Difficulty: Gold Leaf Galaxy: 6/10, Toy Time Galaxy: 7/10, Deep Dark Galaxy: 4.5/10
In Gold Leaf, jump off the stone platforms and onto him while avoiding the water bubbles, and ground pound on the glass. Do this 3 times. In Toy Time, use a Spring Mushroom to get to the glass, then ground pound. Here he uses electricity instead of water. Do this 3 times. In Deep Dark, where he goes back to using water, just jump on him and ground pound, or use a Koopa shell. Do this 3 times.

Kingfin
Difficulty: 7.5
You must search the waters for green or red shells to throw at Kingfin and his robotic fish helpers. It takes one hit to destroy a normal robotic fish, and 5 to destroy Kingfin.

Fiery Dino Piranha
Difficulty: 7/10
Apart from the fact that he can shoot fireballs and run faster, this isn't that much different from the Dino Piranha fight. Use the same strategy from the first battle. After the 2nd hit he will charge full speed ahead. I recommend that you buy a Life Shroom from the Luma shop before this fight.

Bowser
Difficulty: 9/10
The final boss at long last. He has 6 health points. Mario and Bowser move on to different planets as the fight progresses. On the first planet, spin into Bowser’s head as he rolls around in a rock. On the second planet, spin the coconuts into Bowser. On the last planet use the strategy from the previous 2 battles. It gets harder as the fight goes along. When you defeat him you will move on to a touching scene that will bring a tear to your eye...
