Fawful and Peasley were once friends but one fateful day, Fawful's parents died. This left him terribly insane. Though he recovered somewhat, nothing could be done about his manner of speech or his odd desire to make machines to hold ghosts. His aunt Cackletta took him in and convinced the Woohoo Hooniversity Board that he was a genius worthy of their exclusive university. It was during this time that his head gear was completed but it was too late for him to use it on his parents' souls.

This caused Cackletta to go evil; she deeply loved her bother and sister-in-law. She then learned of the Beanstar, the sacred object that granted wishes. She asked Queen Bean permission to use it, but was declined. This caused Cackletta's desires to become even MORE evil. She now wanted the world more than her family's lives. She then told Fawful, who also became evil, to modify his head gear. Then they devised a plan for a little revenge via a Belly Blech worm for Queen Bean. But Mario and Luigi defeated the witch, who was saved by Fawful, who was beaten up by Peasley, his old friend. They possessed Bowser and revised their plan.

After being beaten by the Mario Bros, Fawful was flung out of the castle. It was believed that he somehow blew up, but nope, it was a ruse! He really sent a bomb from the castle to make it look like he was dead. He still lives. As for the ghost of Cackletta being able to conjure a Fawful-like ghost? His head hear obviously can make copies of people who use it, namely Fawful and Cackletta.
