Roger is probably one of the bosses with the shortest life span. All the other bosses at least started out as something that could move, while he started life as a PLANT.

Yes, Roger came to be when Kamek ran out of ideas for good enemies to take on Yoshi and Baby Mario. Rather than having another failed attempt with a super-sized version of an enemy (like Burt the Bashful, Salvo the Slime, etc), Kamek decided to start from scratch. He got together some flowers from the first levels and shoved them into an ancient Mexican pot.

Kamek then placed the flowers and va into the deepest part of a castle, and just left it there. Kamek left two green Shy Guys to guard the pot until further notice. They did a pretty good job of watering it, and they liked the smell of the flowers anyway. It's uncertain how the flowers were able to live there, without any sun.

When Yoshi (with Baby Mario on his back) got to where the pot was, Kamek swooped into action and dropped a high amount of concentrated magic and hoped for the best. Luck was on his side, as Roger was born.

Roger was quite scary looking, but he had to face facts. He was just a ghost in a pot, and didn't have many good attacks, although he WAS nearly invincible. Roger couldn't be defeated by anything Yoshi could throw at him, so he didn't think that Yoshi would know his weakness. Unfortunately for him, Yoshi knew just what to do, since his castle was full of other potted plants.

Yoshi ran right up to Roger and began pushing the pot. This was a big problem, since Roger's pot was sitting on a floating ledge. Roger kept pushing Yoshi away and spitting wisps of ectoplasm, but Yoshi just dodged and kept on pushing. The two green Shy Guys weren't just going to let Roger die, they helped by pushing in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, they too were relatively weak.

The two Shy Guys soon plummeted off the ledge. Roger kept pushing Yoshi back, but it was a losing battle for him since he couldn't move. Yoshi soon pushed him off the edge, and Roger fell down eight stories untll he hit the floor and his pot exploded. This is quite strange, since the pot his ledge was over was supposedly bottomless. That was the end of Roger, and Yoshi continued on his quest.

Yes, this is the sad tale of Roger the Potted Ghost. He died the same day he was born. Yoshi found it quite annoying that getting to him was harder than killing him, but Yoshi isn't one to complain. Nobody's sure whether Roger enjoyed the short time he spent on Plit, but at least he had his own castle.

Actually, nobodies sure if he is dead anyway. All Yoshi saw was his pot exploding, so Roger might still be living in the bottom of that so-called bottomless pit, pot-less.
