Hoohoros used to be a normal cactus person. He lived in the city at the foot of Hoohoo Mountain millions of years ago. He grew old and died when he reached age 50. He was working on a project to help protect the Hoohoo Mountain summit when he died by being crushed by the defense system. His soul was to become a Boo, but it got caught in the technology and he lived again, this time in the ancient technology.

Hoohoros set up two challenges so that only those worthy enough to reach the summit would. First, he captured the souls of dead Hoohooians and turned them into small floating balls. He made the first challenge to capture ten souls in 30 seconds.

Hoohoros began working on his second challenge. He found out he had the ability to control pillars with runes engraved on them. He also learned that he could shoot lasers from the pillar and that he could do so as well. He also learned that he could turn into a shadow, but that changed him into a dark black instead of brown. The second challenge, he decided, was that travelers would have to fight him.

Hoohoros has encountered many travelers, but Mario and Luigi are the only ones ever to defeat him. Blablanadon flies right over so he cannot challenge him. Blablanadon and the Mario Bros. were the last ones ever to reach the summit and probably will remain the only ones for a long time thanks to Hoohoros.
