Chapter Three: Waluigi's Trap

Mushroom Way, 15 minutes later...

Luigi: I think we're ready to go back, eh?

Peach: Yup.

Toad: Hey guys, do you smell something?

Luigi: AHHHH!!!

Mario: Mamma mia!

Peach: Oh my gosh... what happened?!

???: Nyeh heheh!

Luigi: That sounds like-

???: A-me!

Waluigi pops out of some bushes.

Luigi: YOU!

Waluigi: That's right! And I've hijacked your castle! We've taken over it!

Mario: What? How? We've got security!

Waluigi: Exactly! Wait, why should I be telling you this? I've got a certain Mario brother to kill!

Mario: It's not me, right?

Waluigi: No you idiot, you're dim-witted brother!

Luigi: Pah, I'm not scared!

Waluigi: Oh yeah? Then I'll take you one-on-one!

Luigi: FINE!

Mario: Oh, my...

Toad: Luigi! Here, take this Fire Flower!

Toad tosses a Fire Flower to Luigi but Waluigi intercepts it and becomes Fire Waluigi.

Fire Waluigi: Bring it on, you goon!

Luigi: Rrr...

Waluigi tosses a fireball at Luigi but he jumps over it.

Fire Waluigi: Oh, smart, eh? Well take this!

Waluigi tosses another one but Luigi ducks under it and slides into Waluigi, causing him to trip. Waluigi is no longer Fire Waluigi.

Waluigi: Arghh!

Waluigi gets back up, but as he does Luigi finishes secretly powering up from Toad's secret Hammer Brothers suit. He jumps on Waluigi, sending him back down.

Waluigi: Nyeh heheh! You may have won this round, but expect me again, at the top of the castle! If you can make it!

Waluigi gets up and casts a blinding spell to the rest, using his last ounce of strength, and then runs into the castle. As he shuts the door the fog clears up.

Luigi: Quick, let's go!

The foursome run into the castle to find Waluigi.

Waluigi: Heheheh! I was originally gonna kill you, Luigi, but I've changed my mind.

Luigi: It's too late, buccko, cause I'm gonna tear you apart!

Waluigi: Oh, you will, will you? Well, maybe you wanna find your friends first!

Luigi: What?

Waluigi: KOMEK! GET IN HERE!

Komek, a Kamek look-alike wearing orange, flies in and quickly zaps Mario, Peach, and Toad.

Luigi: What the?!

Waluigi: Eheheh! Your friends are trapped inside my puzzle fortress! You haveta get out of it alive to get those losers back! You wanna go get em? That's fine! Eheheheh! In the meantime, I'll be taking over this dump! So you have a choice. Ya can lose badly while fighting me, or you can go find your loser friends! HEHEHEHEHEH!!!

Luigi: Why you little... gimmie my friends back!

Waluigi: KOMEK!

Luigi dives at Waluigi, but in mid-air Komek zaps him. Luigi goes flying back.

Luigi: AHHH!

Waluigi: Goodbye, loser. HAHAHAH!

Komek smirks and zaps Luigi. Luigi screams and starts falling into blackness. Finally he crashes down in a room with only one door. It is dimly lit by torches on either side. Luigi notices a gold inscription on the wall to the left of him. He reads it and it says the following:

"Hello, young traveler. I am Sebastian. I travel around Plit and have spied on your problem. I can only help you through clues."

Luigi: Great... why doesn't he just give me the whole thing?

"I think you may find the door easy to open when the room is darker."

Luigi: Hm... darker? Ah, the torches.

Luigi walks over to a torch and blows the candle it holds. He does the same on the other side and the door opens.

Luigi: This'll be easier than I thought...

Luigi walks into the next room and gasps. It's a live size maze, but instead of hedges, there are brambles barely touching the ceiling. Torches light the room for as far as his eyes can see.

Luigi: This... isn't... good.

Luigi walks forward and is already facing a fork in the path. He notes a gap on the right side and a dead end on the left. However, the wall seems to be shining. Luigi walks over and sees another inscription. This time it reads:

"Beware the traps or death shall seal your fate."

Luigi sighs and turns back to the fork, this time walking up to the gap. He thinks for a second.

Luigi: Hm... I can't jump this, it's too big. And the walls are brambled.

Luigi looks down. Unsurprisingly, all he sees is black. He can not tell what is down there. He bends over and reaches his hand down, and feels a crow bar. He grips it and slides forward, and can tell it went until the other side.

Luigi: Here goes.

Luigi tightly grips the bar with both his hands and lets his feet fall. His hand slips but the other one still has a good grip.

Luigi: Ahh!

He quickly flings his hand back up and slowly moves it ahead of his right hand, re-gripping the bar. He continues until he finally reaches the other end and flings his feet up onto the ground. He slowly pushes himself up and finally gets up to see a dead end.

Luigi: ARGH!
