Castle Secret Stars

Star 12: Return of the Annoying Rabbit

By Crazy Packers Fan

Mario and Luigi enter the basement of the castle. They walk down one of the hallways. Standing there, again, is the yellow rabbit.

Luigi: The last time we caught that thing, we got a Star, remember? Why not see if we can get another one?

Mario: I remember. And we'll try to get another Star. But this time, let's make sure that we don't waste a long time trying to catch it.

Luigi: How can we do that?

Mario: Instead of us both chasing it, why don't you chase it around? I'll be waiting around this corner.
It'll run right into my arms.

Luigi: Okay, that should work.

Mario stands in one spot, while Luigi starts chasing the rabbit around. Luigi and the rabbit run all around. Finally, Luigi reaches the corner where Mario is waiting.

Mario: I got him! Give me that Star, rabbit!

Luigi: Uh, Mario?

Mario: Not now, Luigi. I want that Star!

Luigi: Mario...

Mario: What?

Luigi: Don't look now, but you don't have the rabbit.

Mario is grasping Luigi by the leg.

Mario: What are you doing here?

Luigi: I must have ran past the rabbit, because I lost it. Then you grabbed me instead of it.

Mario: Where is it?

Luigi: I don't know. Let's go back and find it.

Mario and Luigi follow Luigi's footsteps. There they find the rabbit standing there.

Mario: Get it!

Now the rabbit takes off, forcing Mario and Luigi to chase it before Mario grabs Luigi's arm.

Mario: We aren't going to catch this thing merely by running around like idiots.

Luigi: How are we supposed to catch it, then?

Mario: One of us runs one way, and the other runs the exact opposite way. The rabbit always runs through the same rooms, and if one of us chases it into the other's arms, we'll have ourselves a Star.

Luigi: Good thinking.

Mario and Luigi stand with their backs to each other.

Mario: Go!

Both plumbers take off, running in opposite directions. Luigi ends up running towards the rabbit, chasing it back the opposite way towards Mario. After both plumbers run through the cycle of rooms, they come running back to where they began. They both run into each other full-force.

Luigi: Ouch...

Mario: Okay, so that didn't work either.

Luigi: These plans of yours stink! We've got to think of something!

Mario: Okay, I'll think.

Mario starts to think. Luigi starts to hear a strange noise coming from Mario. Then he sees Mario's head bent over. All of a sudden, he sees Mario fall over.

Luigi: Mario! What's the matter?!

Mario: Zzzzzz...

Luigi: I should have known. Come on, wake up!

Mario: Huh?

Luigi: We're trying to catch that rabbit, remember?

Mario: Oh, yeah, the rabbit. That's right.

Luigi: There has to be a way of catching this thing... I know!

Mario: What?

Luigi: You go sneak over in front of the rabbit. Then, when you're in front of it, I'll chase him and he'll
run right into your arms.

Mario: Okay...

Mario tries tiptoeing past the rabbit. It doesn't work, as the rabbit takes off anyway.

Mario: How about that plan?!

Luigi: Well, you think of something better!

Mario: How about this... we just madly dive and grasp at that thing until we get it.

Luigi: I hope this works...

Mario and Luigi run around like idiots, crashing into walls at times. They grab the air in frustration, then
punch the walls in disgust. Finally, they give up.

Mario: Let's go get a different Star.

Luigi: I agree. Where shall we go, Hazy Maze Cave? Shifting Sand Land?

Mario: Let's just choose one at random.

As Mario and Luigi start walking down one of the halls, they run into the rabbit again.

Luigi: Get out of my way, you stupid- Mario, the rabbit!

Mario: Grab him!

By now the rabbit has taken off again. The Mario Brothers chase it once more. As they go around one bend, Mario slips and falls down. Luigi continues chasing the rabbit around. Finally Luigi comes around again, chasing the rabbit right into Mario's lap.

Mario: Finally! Give me that Star!

Rabbit: Okay, take your Star. I'm in a hurry! Must not waste any time!

Luigi: That doesn't seem like the speech one of you characters would give us...

Rabbit: I have a right to free speech, don't I?

Mario: As long as we have this Star, I don't care what you say. Goodbye!

The rabbit runs off, disappearing, never to be seen again.

Luigi: Onto the next-

Mario: Forget the next Star for now. Let's just save and quit!
