After Mario shoves Luigi into the quivering black hole and jumps in himself, the Bros. find themselves back in the Hazy Maze Cave.
Mario: Well, we need to find the next Star.
Luigi: Yup.
Mario: It will be fastest if we split up.
Luigi: NOOO! It's scary in here! Mariooooooo!!!
Mario is used to Luigi complaining, so he ignores him.
Mario: You go right, I'll go left.
Luigi: I want to come with you!
Mario grabs the Metal Cap from the block and heads toward the left.
Luigi: No, wait, Mario! You can't leave... But... Hey, I wanted the Metal Cap!!!
Luigi heads to the right, sniffling.
Mario long jumps over the pit and goes through the door. As he walks along the platform next to the black hole, he sees a door. He remembered that last time they went through the passage with rolling rocks, so he decides to enter the door.
Luigi carefully walks by some small pits, and suddenly, a huge spider jumps out and lands on his head.
Luigi: MAMAMIA!!! AAAAAAAAA!!!
Luigi runs around frantically and sees a door at the end of the hall. He jumps over a pit, but the pit starts shooting flames up at him.
Luigi: AAAA! HOT! BURN! OW! PAIN!
Luigi crashes into the door on the wall. The spider gets bored and leaves Luigi's head.
Luigi: I wonder if Mario is having as bad a time as I am...
Mario finds an elevator. He steps on it and rides it down.
Mario: This is easy. I didn't even need the Metal Cap. I wonder if Luigi is having any problems?
Luigi opens the door, burned and bruised, and finds himself on a high platform with a pole and a sign. Panting, he reads the sign.
Luigi: "To get down, grab the pole and slide down slowly." Oh, sure, I know when someone's trying to trick me. I can get down by myself.
Mario enters a large room full of tall platforms and floating objects. Suddenly, he hears a scream.
Luigi: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
SPLAT! Luigi lands face-down on the ground.
Mario: Luigi! Where did you come from?!
Luigi: Maybe the sign wasn't trying to trick me... ow...
Mario: Get up, Luigi, we need to find a Star.
Luigi gets up and rubs his face.
Luigi: Where are we?
Mario: I don't know, but maybe we can find something useful in here. C'mon.
They walk around the room and find a large staircase leading up to a platform.
Mario: Let's go up here!
Luigi: No! I'm afraid of heights!
Mario throws Luigi to the top of the staircase.
Luigi: MAMAMIA! AAAAAAAAAA!
Mario climbs the staircase, but Luigi is gone. Mario looks around and sees Luigi ten feet away, and getting farther.
Luigi: HELP!!!
Mario: Hang on, Luigi!
Luigi is on some sort of panel with four arrow buttons. When he landed on the platform, he accidentally pressed one of the buttons. Mario makes a huge leap from the top of the staircase to the platform, and when he lands, the other end of the platform shoots up, with Luigi on it.
Luigi: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
SPLAT! Luigi lands on a small pillar.
Luigi: Why does this sort of thing always happen to me? I'm the good-looking brother!
Mario: WHAT?!
Luigi: Nothing... ow...
Mario: You better have said nothing. Anyway, see what you can find over there. It looks like there is some stuff floating on the same level as this platform, so I'll look around with it.
Luigi gets up and finds another pole right in front of him.
Luigi: No! The last time I saw one of these, I got hurt! It scares me!!!
Mario: What? Oh, there's a pole there! Climb it! Maybe you can direct me to some treasure or a Star or anything helpful.
Luigi: I DON'T WANT TO!!!
Mario: Then it's my secret pasta sauce for dinner again!
Luigi: Fine! You don't have to be so mean.
Luigi climbs the pole, whimpering. Mario is busy pushing the arrow buttons and eventually finds a yellow block. He punches it, and there's a red coin inside.
Mario: Sweet! There are more red coins around here!
Luigi reaches another platform and sees a big checkered block. He also notices an army of fire-spitting black balls!
Luigi: NOOOO! I've had enough third-degree burns today!!!
He jumps so high that he hits his head on the ceiling and lands on the block. He gets up and notices that the balls don't shoot fire, but lead the block on a path in the air.
Luigi: Phew... What a minute, now I can't get down! HELP!!!
Mario breaks another block and collects the red coin within.
Mario: This is easy! How's it going, bro?
Luigi: This block is taking me away!
Mario: Look! There's a red coin in front of you!
Luigi looks around and the floating coin smacks him in the face, but he collects it.
Luigi: Owie...
Mario: Nice *chuckle* job, Luigi!
Luigi: Uh, thanks? Hey, what's that?
A small, purple bat flies into Luigi's face.
Luigi: MAMAMIA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Luigi manages to swat it away, but he trips over some floating ledges and falls off the block. He grabs the edge of one of the ledges before he falls and notices a red coin three inches above his hand. He pulls himself up, grabs the coin, and sees that the block he is riding is dissappearing.
Luigi: No! I'll be stuck up here! HELP!!!
Mario collects another red coin, but doesn't notice anything happening to Luigi.
Luigi makes a mad scramble for the block, but he jumps too hard and slips on it when he lands. He flies onto another platform, and into two more red coins. The bat gets mad at him for swatting it, so it comes back for revenge. It flies at Luigi and makes him trip and fall off. He lands on a yellow block, which breaks, and Luigi grabs the coin inside. Since there is now nothing under Luigi, he falls down farther. A Star appears on the ground inside a large shadowy star. SPLAT!!! Luigi lands on the ground, with the Star in his mouth.
Luigi: Heemf wem gum! (translation: Here we go!) Ow...
Mario: Hey, no fair! You always get to have all the fun!
Luigi faints.
