Mario and Luigi are in the basement chasing MIPS the rabbit.
MIPS: Haha hehe! You'll never catch me!
Luigi: Mario, we've been chasing this guy for ten minutes! Let's stop!
Mario: But we need his Star!
MIPS: You'll never catch me or put up with my tricks!
Luigi: Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids! Not plumbers!
MIPS: Well, this way then!
MIPS leads the Marios into a dead end near Lethal Lava Land.
MIPS: Oh no, I'm stuck!
Mario and Luigi dive at MIPS but miss and go flying into the wall, which leads them elsewhere.
MIPS: So long, suckers!
The Marios fall on the ground in Shifting Sand Land.
Voice: Welcome to Shifting Sand Land! The first Star is in the talons of the big bird! Good luck!
Luigi: This makes no sense! We jump into an ordinary wall and end up in this desert?
Mario: Must've been hidden to keep people out. Who'd try jumping into an ordinary wall?
Luigi: What did that voice say to do?
Mario: It said their is a Star in the talons of the big bird!
Luigi: Isn't he that big yellow guy on Sesame Street?
Mario: I doubt it!
Luigi: Well we can't see much on this side of that sand dune. Let's get on top of that pavilion and have a look around.
The Marios run over to the pavilion and triple jump on top of it. Mario points to a condor holding a Star.
Mario: There's your bird, Luigi! A condor named Clepto!
Luigi: How come you know his name?
Mario: Don't question me on that, Luigi!
Luigi: So how are we supposed to reach him?
Mario: Well, that I'm not so sure on!
Luigi: Mario, look up!
They look up and see a red ! Block and a yellow one. Mario bashes the red ! Block and a Wing Cap falls out. He puts it on.
Mario: Here we go!
Luigi hits the Yellow ! Block and a Koopa Shell falls out. Luigi jumps on it.
Mario: Let's-a go!
Luigi rides the shell over towards Clepto as Mario flies overhead. Luigi then gets picked up by a tornado and loses his shell and goes flying.
Luigi: Mario! Help!
Mario flies over to Luigi and grabs him.
Luigi: Thanks!
They fly over towards Clepto and Luigi drops down on top of him, causing him to drop the Star. It flies over to a clearing between the two pillars near the oasis.
Clepto: Squawk! Get off of me, plumber!
Luigi: But I'll fall in the quicksand!
Clepto: I don't care, you're giving me a headache!
Luigi: Mario! Get the Star!
Clepto manages to shake Luigi off and he falls in the quicksand as Mario flies at the Star and we hear the Star music.
Mario: Here we go!
Luigi quickly sinks.
Luigi: Onto the next-
The quicksand muffles Luigi's voice.
