Mario and Luigi have just beaten Bowser the second time.
Mario: Ya know, it would probably have occurred, even to Bowser, not to put bombs in his battlefield AGAIN.
Luigi: Yeah, he's messed up.
Mario: Anyway, we have his key, so let's find the door it opens!
Luigi: It's right on top of the main stairs. It's hard to miss.
Mario: O.o Oh, yeah...
They walk up the stairs, and Mario puts the key in the slot and turns it. The door opens, and they find a spiral staircase. They start to go up, but soon, Luigi starts feeling dizzy.
Luigi: Man, how high is this staircase anyway?!
Mario: We've only gone up ten steps... and it looks like there are thirteen more.
Luigi: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Mario runs up the rest of the way. He opens the door and looks around the room.
Mario: Wow! Look at all the paintings! Wait... haven't we done some of these before? Luigi?
Luigi finally opens the door, gasping for breath.
Luigi: *pant* I wish *gasp* this place *wheeze* had only one floor, like our house... How can the princess stand it?
Mario: (ignoring Luigi) Which painting should we try?
Luigi: Let's try that shiny white one over there!
Luigi runs over to a painting of a wispy white orb and jumps toward it. He smashes into it and falls to the ground.
Luigi: OUCH!!! How come these inanimate objects try to trick us so much?!
Mario: (to himself) But you ARE an inanimate object... (to Luigi) Hey, how about seeing what's in that door over there?
Mario points to a door next to a large replica of the Bob-omb painting.
Luigi: Wait... maybe that's another Bob-omb world! We should see if there are any Stars in there.
Mario can guess what will happen.
Mario: Go ahead. When you're done in there, follow me into this door.
Luigi: You mean I get to do a world by myself? Alright!
Mario opens the door and walks through. He soon hears a loud thud against the wall and begins laughing. Luigi walks in the door with a squashed face.
Luigi: Ow...
Mario: (no longer laughing) Alright, we need to find out what to do in here.
Luigi walks forward a bit and notices a plumber in a green shirt and hat standing ten feet away from him.
Luigi: MARIO! You look like me!
Luigi runs toward the green-clad plumber and crashes into the mirror.
Luigi: Ow...
Mario: What the?! These are mostly copies of paintings we've already been in! That doesn't look promising, even for the new one.
Luigi: Yeah, and if all five are fakes, then it will really hurt to try them all...
Mario: FIVE?! Are you mad?! There are only four in here!
Luigi spins around and counts again.
Luigi: You're right! But I saw a copy of the snow world painting here a second ago...
Luigi points to an empty wall.
Mario looks where Luigi is pointing, and realizes that the first time Luigi counted, he was looking in the mirror. Mario looks in the mirror and sees the painting that Luigi saw, but only as a reflection.
Mario: Luigi! You were right! Watch this!
Mario runs toward the blank wall and jumps toward it.
Luigi: Four regular paintings, one of them new, and he jumps toward a blank wall...
Mario flies through the wall.
Luigi: O.O Wait for meeeeeee!!!
Luigi jumps through the wall too.
Voice: BUH-BUH BUH BU-BUH BAAA!!! You are now in the Snowman's Land! Please have fun, but try not to die, because dieng is bad, stuff like that.
Mario: Who said that?
Voice: Luigi.
Mario: Luigi?
Luigi: Mario?
Voice: Mario.
Mario and Luigi: Shut up!
Voice: Fine...
Mario: Ok, we need to find a Star.
Luigi: Can we collect coins too? Look over there!
Luigi runs toward a line of coins, but the last one materializes as an enemy right before Luigi grabs it, and he runs into it.
Luigi: OW!!!
Mario: We need to go the other way. There's a wall blocking that direction.
Luigi: Now you tell me...
Mario and Luigi walk up a steep hill and there's a white thing with a flower on its head in front of them. It starts to walk towards them.
Luigi: Hi there. Who are you?
It walks into Luigi.
Luigi: OW! How rude! Take this!
Luigi jumps on it, which makes it disappear. He starts flying and spinning around.
Luigi: HELLLLLLPP MEEEEEEE!!!
Mario: What happened?
A gust of air blows Luigi over to a tree, where he lands and dematerializes. It also blows snow into Mario's face so he doesn't notice where Luigi goes.
Mario: (getting snow out of his nose) Where did you go, Luigi? *cough*
Luigi materializes near an area where a bunch of ice blocks are moving swiftly toward a pool of water. Luigi spots a platform over the place where the ice blocks are coming out.
Luigi: Mario, where are you? I'm freezing and I'm hungry!
No reply.
Luigi's stomach: *growl*
Luigi: Aw, I guess I gotta try to get up there myself. Well, here I go!
Mario jumps down where he thought he saw Luigi go, and immediately gets shocked by an Amp.
Mario: OW!!! You're not Luigi. Luigi, where are you?
Mario walks through a cold breeze and can't see where he's going. He slips on the side of a pond and falls in.
Mario: AAAIIIIIIIIEEEE!!! TOO COLD!
Mario jumps up 20 feet and lands outside the pond.
Mario: I'm beginning to feel like Luigi! Ow...
Mario sees a sign next to the pond and reads it.
Mario: "Brrr! Frostbite Danger! Do not swim here. I'm serious. --The Penguin" (sarcastically) Well, I'm glad I read this sign first!
Mario walks around the next hill, rubbing his hands together even though he's wearing gloves. There, he sees Luigi scrambling across some ice blocks that eventually shove him into the water.
Luigi: Man! This water's cold! I won't let those stupid blocks do that to me a fifty-third time!
Luigi climbs out of the water and is about to have another go at the ice blocks, when Mario calls to him.
Mario: Hey, Luigi! There you are!
Luigi looks over at Mario and is about to say something when he gets pushed from the side and falls into the water.
Luigi: Glub!
Mario runs over to him and helps him out of the water.
Mario: What are you doing?! Freezing yourself?
Luigi: You wish. I was trying to get to that platform up there. There may be a Star!
Mario looks where Luigi is pointing and sighs. He throws Luigi up to the platform.
Luigi: YAAAAAHH!
Luigi hits the platform with a crunch.
Luigi: Ow...
Mario: When I get over there, you help me up. If you don't, I'll give your diary to Princess Peach when we rescue her.
Luigi: Where did you find that?!
Mario: It was under a board in our house. It wasn't that hard to find.
Luigi: Grr... ok, I'm ready.
Mario easily jumps over the ice blocks and grabs Luigi's hand. Luigi pulls him up and they follow the small path up the mountain. Luigi starts getting nervous because the path is so thin and there are no walls.
Luigi: (under his breath) I will not wet myself... I will not wet myself... AW MAN!
Mario tries to ignore Luigi (but can't) and makes it to a bridge made of ice occupied by a large penguin.
Mario: Haven't I seen you before, Mr. Penguin?
Penguin: Hmm... nope. You must mean my brother, he lives in the log cabin on Cool, Cool Mountain.
Mario: Oh, yeah. By the way, were you the one that wrote that sign down near the freezing pond?
Penguin: Obviously. It was signed, "The Penguin". Anyway, what did you come all the way up here for?
Mario: Would you happen to know of any Stars around here?
Penguin: Stars... oh yes. There's one up there.
The penguin points up toward the top of the cliff, which Mario realizes is really a giant snowman!
Mario: Mamamia! That's a large snowman! Who built it?
Penguin: Huh? It's not something someone built! It's aliiiiiiive!!! ALIIIIIIIIVE!!!
Mario: Ok, calm down.
Penguin: Sorry...
Snowman: What's going on?! I'm trying to take a nap!
Penguin: See?
Snowman: Whoever's making that racket, I'll blow you away!
The snowman starts to blow huge gusts of wind across the bridge.
Mario: Woah, I don't want to get blown away! Why aren't you getting blown away, Mr. Penguin?
Penguin: Sometimes it pays to weigh 500 pounds. (But not very often...)
Luigi: Mario, you nearly weigh that much!
Mario: Shut up, Luigi. Mr. Penguin, how many licks does it take... I mean, would you mind helping us across this bridge?
Penguin: Not at all. Just stand next to me and I will shield you.
Luigi: Really? Great!
Luigi jumps over to the penguin's side, but he is forgetting that ice is slippery. He slides past the penguin and the snowman blows him off the mountain.
Luigi: AAAAAAAAAA!!! I hate snowmen!
Luigi lands face-first in the snow below, and the little snowmen near him take the opportunity to pelt him with snowballs.
Luigi: Did I mention that I hate snowmen?!
While Luigi is complaining, Mario gets an idea.
Mario: Hey, Mr. Penguin! Mind if I ride on your head?
Penguin: Yes.
Mario: Too bad!
Mario jumps on the penguin's head and doesn't let go, even after the fight which ensues.
Penguin: ALRIGHT! I'll bring you to the other side, just let go!
Mario: Now were talkin'!
The penguin puts Mario on the other side of the bridge, and Mario thanks him:
Mario: Penguins are annoying.
Penguin: Ow... you're welcome.
Mario climbs a couple of steps and backflips onto the snowman's head.
Snowman: Ow! Hey!
Mario: Quiet, snowman. Snowmen and Luigi are even more inanimate than paintings.
Snowman: Grr...
Mario grabs the Star.
Mario: Here we go!
Mario climbs down the snowman to help
Luigi, who is now a snow dune.
