Course 12: Tall, Tall Mountain

Star 4: Mysterious Mountainside

By Waluigi's Twin

As this segment of our two heroes begins, they are casually... casually... hey, what are they doing?!

Mario: It's a game I invented called "Try to Goober the Dork King"!

Luigi: So far, Mario's ahead by fifty-nine garbles!

Right. Anyways, they're... um... What's the name of that thing in Mario's hands, anyway?

Mario: It's the Goober Sphere! I'm supposed to throw this at the Twine Robust to score eighty-four yodelers! Fifty of them equal nine garbles, and the first to one trillion garbles wins!

Oh brother. Anyway, that... sphere falls into the painting for Tall, Tall Mountain!

Luigi: Ha! Now you're down by nine thousand ludicrous!

What's a ludicrous?

Mario: It's-

Never mind. Anyway, they go in chasing it. They find it where Fwoosh is blowing his wind, near the top of the mountain. But, as the sphere is covered in... oh, I'm not even going to ask!

Luigi: It's mustard.

Fine then! Since it's covered in mustard, it falls out of Luigi's hands and right into the mountainside!

Luigi: Oh my goodness! There's a warp in this warp!

Mario: Come on, Luigi! Let's go rescue the Goober Sphere!

That's it!

Luigi: What's wrong?

These silly names are driving me crazy! You!

Ukiki: Squeak! What?

Fill in for me! I have to get away before I go bonkers!

Ukiki: Squeak! Fine then, if you say so!

[BRIEF PAUSE]

Squeak! Hey, it's comfy up here!

Luigi: Boy, the narrator sure ran off in a hurry!

Mario: Too bad Fwoosh blew him off the mountain, though.

Squeak! So now that things had been settled, the Mario Bros. entered the warp and appeared by a secret slide, very much unlike the one in Peach's castle.

Mario: Suddenly, I don't feel so-

Squeak! Mario suddenly slipped and started to slide down, followed by Luigi! Squeak! Soon after a few ninety-degree turns, the path ahead was missing!

Luigi: Quick, try to maneuver to that wooden path!

Squeak! So the Mario Brothers quickly diverted from the main path and onto the wooden path. Squeak! After jumping across a couple of gaps, Mario and Luigi reached the main path again. Squeak! Suddenly, they reached a place where the path twisted and banked!

Mario: MAMAMIA!

Luigi: Looks like we either ride along the bottom of the bank, or fall down the inside of the mountain!

Squeak! So the Mario Brothers reached the end of the path, where they found the Goober Sphere and a Power Star!

Mario: Can I have it?

Luigi: Why should YOU get it? I was the one who told you about how to maneuver onto the wooden path AND through the bank!

Mario: I'll give you five hundred garbles!

Luigi: Be my guest!

Squeak! So Mario has the fourth Star of this bizarre mountain, and this segment ends with the narrator coming back to narrate and, of course, Mario's catchphrase!

Mario: I-a got it! Onto the next-a Star!
