Luigi and Mario are eating some pasta outside the Tick Tock Clock course as this part of the journey begins.
Luigi: Guess what time it is, Luigi!
Mario (with ravioli in his mouth): Mhhph? Mhhhaaplllop!
Luigi: No! It's time to go into Tick Tock Clock (lame pun)!
Mario: I still want to eat the rest of the rigatoni! You head on without me!
So Luigi goes in as the minute hand of the course entrance is at the 3. Inside, Luigi notices that the clock parts are moving rather slow. This is rather good, for the blocks are all rotating in unison and easy to climb.
When Luigi gets to the area the minute hand is swinging slowly in, he jumps on the hand and rides it around the room. He knows he should do this because, well, how obvious is a clue like "Get a Hand"?
Outside...
Mario: Burp! Better find Luigi now!
Luigi is almost at the alcove with the Star when Mario enters with the minute hand of the course entrance at 9. Suddenly, everything starts moving wickedly fast! Luigi has a hard time staying on the hand, never mind avoiding Amps! He quickly passes the Star.
Mario: Sorry, Luigi!
But Luigi isn't a quitter, and as the hand is almost at the alcove again, Luigi jumps, lands in the alcove, and grabs the Star! This is followed by the regular music and Mario saying, "Yes! I-a got it!"
Luigi: No you didn't! Sheesh!
Later...
Luigi: Now what have we learned?
Mario: Never eat rigatoni instead of helping my brother.
Luigi: And?
Mario: That when the course's entrance's minute hand is at 9, things are more speedy than when they are at a regular pace.
Luigi: AND?
Mario: That when the course's entrance's minute hand is at 3, things are more slow than when they are at a regular pace.
Luigi: Good boy! Have a chew bone!
Mario snatches the bone and chews on
it ferociously as this journey segment ends.
