Mario and Luigi are in Delfino Plaza, looking up at the lighthouse.
Mario: Hmm. I wonder if there's anything up there.
Luigi: Well, how do we get up there?
Mario: I'm thinking, I'm thinking...
One hour later...
Mario: I've got it! We'll climb up!
Luigi: WHAT?! We can't climb up that!
Mario: Okay, okay, we'll use the Rocket Nozzle.
Luigi: AND YOU COULDN'T HAVE SUGGESTED THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?!
Mario: Nope. Sorry.
Luigi: ARGH!!!
Mario: Well, let's go back to the statue and get the Rocket Nozzle!
Mario and Luigi go there, only to find that the box containing the Nozzle is a hologram.
Mario: Oh well. We can come back later.
Later...
Mario: Now it isn't a hologram! Let's use it!
Mario tries to open the box and get the Nozzle, but is stopped by Luigi.
Luigi: No way! I want the glory for once!
Mario: But I was the one who thought of using it!
Luigi: Well I was the one that-
FLUDD: Couldn't you both get a Rocket Nozzle?
Luigi: Oh. I didn't think of that.
Both Mario and Luigi get the Rocket Nozzle and go back to the lighthouse.
Mario: (looking up at the lighthouse) You go first, Luigi.
Luigi: No, you go!
Mario: You go!
Luigi: You!
Mario: You!
Luigi: Are we going to spend all our time arguing?
Mario: Yes!
Luigi: No we aren't!
Mario: Yes we are!
Luigi: No we aren't!
Mario: Oh, forget it!
Mario uses the Rocket Nozzle to get onto the top of the lighthouse.
Mario: Interesting... I wonder what this black thing with the fireball-like picture on it is.
Luigi (on the ground): Mario, try rocketing up again and stomping down onto it!
Mario: Where'd you get that idea from?
Luigi: I just read the player's guide!
Mario: Ah!
Mario rockets up and stomps down onto it, breaking it and causing the Shine to appear.
Mario: Now I just need to rocket up there and grab the Shine!
Mario tries using the Rocket Nozzle again, but misses the Shine and falls to the ground.
Luigi: Looks like I'll get THIS one!
Mario: Not so fast!
Both Mario and Luigi rocket to the top of the lighthouse, then rocket up to the Shine, both touching it simultaneously. Both try doing the Shine Sprite dance but accidently rip the Shine in two.
Mario: This is all YOUR fault!
Luigi: No, YOUR fault!
Mario: YOUR fault!
Luigi: YOUR fault!
FLUDD2: Can't you just put the Shine back together?
Mario: Good point!
Mario grabs both halves and puts them together. The Shine then reforms, just like it was before.
Mario: It worked! Aren't I great?
Luigi: Hey, I was about to do it!
Mario: Yeah, right.
Luigi: Hey, it was my FLUDD that thought of it!
Mario: So? I was the one that did it!
Luigi: Look, can we stop arguing and start getting the Shines?
Mario: Okay, why not? And I have a hunch we'll be seeing that fireball picture again sometime...
Luigi: Yeah, right. I mean, what are
the odds of that?
