Mario and Luigi jump at the M on the lighthouse and warp to Gelato Beach.
Mario: Luigi, look over there, on the beach! That guy's dressed as a Pianta!.
Luigi: No kidding! How could you miss him?
Mario and Luigi run over to him.
Il Piantissimo: A-ha-ha! I am Il Piantissimo!
Mario: What kind of name is that?
Il Piantissimo: Don't make fun of my weird name! Will you race me to that flag up there at the amphitheater?
Il Piantissimo points to the amphitheater at the top of the hill.
Luigi: What do we get if we win?
Il Piantissimo: Um, it's a surprise! And you'll never guess what it is!
Mario: Is it a Shine Sprite?
Il Piantissimo: Uh, let's race!
Il Piantissimo starts running off.
Luigi: Hey, wait for us, yeesh!
Mario and Luigi run off and try to catch up the Il Piantissimo. They follow him behind the Sand Bird tower and reach a dead end.
Luigi: Ha ha! He took a wrong turn! He's trapped! We'll win for sure!
Il Piantissimo Walk Kicks his way up to higher ground.
Mario: Why didn't we think of that?
Mario and Luigi Walk Kick up the dead end and see him run up the path to the amphitheater. Mario runs after Il Piantissimo.
Mario: Oh no, he's gonna win!
Luigi quickly switches FLUDD2 to the Hover Nozzle and hovers up the steep slope, bypassing the path.
Luigi: Alright, I'm gonna win!
Il Piantissimo: A-ha-ha! I'm gonna lose!
Mario: Come on, Luigi! You can do it!
Luigi gets to the top and runs over to the flag before Il Piantissimo can reach it. Il Piantissimo then reaches the flag.
Il Piantissimo: A-ha-ha! Fine! You win! You can have your stupid prize now! We'll race again!
Il Piantissimo releases a Shine Sprite in front of Luigi.
Luigi: This one's mine!
Mario comes running to the flag, grabs the Shine Sprite before Luigi can, and does his little dance.
Mario: Woohoo!
Luigi: But, I earned it! No fair!
Mario: Onto the next Shine!
Luigi: Hey, that's my line!
