Mario: Hey Mister! What's the rush?
Guy: I heard the Watermelon Festival is about to start on Gelato Beach! Get your melons ready!
Luigi: Mmm... watermelons! Let's go, Mario!
Mario: Ok!
Mario and Luigi jump into the Lighthouse M warp. They materialize in Gelato Beach.
Pianta: The Watermelon Festival is now OOOOOOOOOOOOOOPEN! Why must I stand here? I'd rather be drinking a smoothie!
Luigi: SMOOTHIE!? Yum... Yoshi would love this place!
Mario: Yeah! Hey, look! I see some watermelons over there by the juice bar!
Mario and Luigi run over to the juice bar and try and take one of the contestant's watermelon.
Pianta Lady: HEY! THIS MELON'S MINE! GET YOUR OWN! THIEVES!
Mario : Geez... I want to find out more about this contest. Let's talk to the guy over there.
Mario points to the Pianta behind the juice bar. They walk up to him and ask him what the contest is about.
Pianta: I wanna take the biggest watermelon and make smoothies! Really good ones! And give them to the Shine Sprites! In appreciation for all they do for us! You know? Bring me the biggest watermelon, and you win a prize!
Luigi: Ok, lets do it. Look! There's a melon sitting right there. Let's take it to him.
The pair race to the melon and push it as hard as they can in the direction of the bar. It ends up hitting a Cataquack and explodes.
Mario: Darn!
Almost immediately, a new melon starts growing rapidly where the old one was.
Luigi: Wow! Let's try again. Slower...
They try again, this time slower, carefully pushing the melon onto the yellow pier area. Mario suddenly slips and the melon goes flying into the sea, where it explodes.
Mario: Oops!
Luigi: MARIO! Ok, you wait here, I'll get the melon myself. Clumsy idiot.
Mario: Grr... FINE.
Luigi successfully rolls the melon over the Pianta in 40 seconds.
Luigi: HAH! See? I rule!
Pianta: ERM! Oh no, no, NO! That's too small. Tiny, really. I guess I'll have to choose one of those three over there...
The Pianta throws a whole load of coins at Luigi for some strange reason.
Luigi: NO! DON'T DO THAT! We can find a bigger one! Please! Give us a chance!
Pianta: Ok. Hurry up though.
Mario: Haha! You lost!
Luigi: Ok, fine, I lost. Now can you just help me find a bigger melon?
Mario: Look, there's one near that yellow squishy goop!
Luigi: Right! There is!
Mario and Luigi run up to the melon, squirting all Cataquacks they see.
Luigi: Wow! Big melon! I'll need your help to push it, Mario.
Mario: How about we use our FLUDDs to move the melon?
Both try, but the FLUDDs have no effect.
FLUDD: Mario, the atermelon is too heavy for water power. You will have to use your own strength.
Mario: Aww... Fine.
As all the Cataquacks have been knocked out by the water, Mario and Luigi have a pretty easy job of getting the melon to the Pianta.
Luigi: Is this one better?
Pianta : Hmm... Well that's not bad. But not great, either. It's not bigger than any of those three over there...
Luigi: YOU WANT A BIGGER ONE?!
Pianta: No. You want a bigger one. If you want to win, that is.
Mario: Fine. Let's go search for another one. You search down here on the beach, I'll go up onto the clifftop.
Luigi: Deal.
Mario climbs the cliff to its peak, where he finds a gigantic melon.
Mario (shouting): LUIGI! I FOUND A BIGGER ONE UP HERE!
Luigi (also shouting): I SEE IT! KNOCK IT DOWN HERE SO I CAN ROLL IT TO THE GUY!
Mario: OK!
Mario kicks the melon as hard as he can. It goes flying into the broken Sand Bird Egg and then explodes.
Luigi: BE CAREFUL! TRY AGAIN!
Mario kicks the new melon not as hard. It rolls down the hill and crashes into Luigi.
Luigi: OUCH!
Mario: STOP MESSING ABOUT AND GET THE MELON TO THE PIANTA OVER THERE!
Luigi: FINE! COULD YOU COME DOWN HERE FIRST AND KNOCK OUT ALL THE CATAQUACKS?
Mario: SURE! HERE I COME!
Mario runs up to the cliff and prepares to dive. Unfortunately he trips and falls, sliding down the cliff. He goes flying right into a pillar. SMACK!
Mario: Ow...
Luigi: QUICK! ONE'S COMING TOWARDS ME!
Mario (regaining conciousness): Ok, ok! Here!
Mario squirts the Cataquacks near the melon while Luigi carefully rolls it towards the bar. Suddenly, a Cataquack sneaks up on them and bursts the melon!
Luigi: ARGH!!!
Mario frantically climbs the cliff again and knocks down another melon. This time when Mario kicks the melon, it bounces right onto the beach. Luigi knocks out the Cataquacks and quickly but carefully pushes the melon up to the Pianta.
Luigi: Whew! That was hard work! Please say this one is the biggest. PLEASE!
Pianta: Whoa! Now that's a big ol' watermelon like I've never seen! I don't even need to get out the caliper for this one! You win!
The melon bounces onto the top of the juice bar and is juiced. A Shine Sprite appears from the juicer on the roof.
Luigi: YES! WE DID IT!
Mario, ignoring Luigi and the Pianta, notices the Shine and jumps onto the roof to grab it. Mario does the Shine Sprite Celebration Dance!
Luigi: Aww! Unfair! I wanted to do the dance!
Mario: Too lat-
Mario and Luigi disappear and rematerialize in Delfino Plaza.
Mario: Whee! That was fun!
Luigi: (grumpy) Hmph. It's so unfair that you always get to do the Shine Dance. I wanna try. Can't you just let me try once? I bet I'd be much better at it...
Mario sighs.
