In episode seven of the world Mario and Luigi are in...
Mario: We-a did it!
FLUDD2: That's the last stage we have to chase Shadow Mario in!
Luigi: I feel so proud!
But then, FLUDD receives a signal!
FLUDD: Oh no! I've just picked up a Delfino Plaza news report! It seems that the Marios, in an attempt to clean the island, flooded the plaza with water!
Luigi: We did no such thing!
FLUDD2: It would appear that Shadow Mario is seeking revenge!
Mario: In that case, let's-a go!
The Marios warp out of their current world, only to land in a lake that was once Delfino Plaza.
Luigi: Ahh! I can't swim!
Mario: Relax, it's only knee-high! Oh wait, no it isn't! Ahh!
Toadsworth: Over here!
Mario and Luigi swim to the rooftop Toadsworth is seeking shelter on.
Toadsworth: Oh, I'm glad you're here! That Shadow Mario broke the dam and fled into the active volcano! Only two other levels are open!
Luigi: Active... VOLCANO?!
Mario: Look at it this way, Weege! We can either enter Sirena Beach...
Luigi: No way! I'm still upset about all those Boos and when Shadow Mario stole my casino winnings!
Mario: ... Triple jump to Pianta Village, as the Rocket Nozzles are submerged...
Luigi: Sounds too tricky!
Mario: ... Or chase that rascal Shadow Mario, who stole your winnings!
Luigi: That devil son of Bowser! I'll get him!
Mario and Luigi head to the volcano. They see Shadow Mario on a platform surrounded by a small bit of water outside it, removing the grate that blocks the entrance.
Shadow Mario: Drats! Sorry, have to scram!
Shadow Mario enters the volcano, immediately followed by two plumbers giving chase. When Mario and Luigi enter Corona Mountain, they find that Shadow Mario is nowhere in sight.
Luigi: Man, how did he get such a head start?
FLUDD: We seem to be on a broken piece of walkway, probably created back when the volcano was inactive.
Mario: Um, FLUDD, were platforms with spikes and fire also developed back then?
FLUDD: No.
Mario: Well, are those types of platforms naturally part of the volcano?
FLUDD: No.
Mario: In that case, somebody who came here recently doesn't want us in!
FLUDD, Luigi, and FLUDD2 look ahead of themselves. There, above the lava, are metallic platforms that have fire roasting on top of them or spikes that pop up every few seconds.
Luigi: AHH!!!
Mario: No time to worry now! We have fish to fry!
A Lava Cheep Cheep leaps out of and back into the lava in front of them.
FLUDD2: Bad expression.
Mario slaps Luigi in the back, causing him to jump over onto the first platform as the spikes are down. Luigi then sees that the spikes are about ready to pop back up, so he hovers to the next platform, dousing the fire with the hovering as well.
Luigi: Hey! This isn't so hard!
FLUDD2: Careful, Luigi! Sensors indicate that the fire is relit every ten seconds, and time's almost up!
Luigi then quickly hovers over the spikes on the next platform and lands on a platform like the one he started on, a trap-free one. There is a 1-Up Mushroom on it!
Luigi: Oh yeah!
Mario then copies what Luigi did, more or less, and reaches the same platform.
FLUDD: Obviously this place is difficult, as there would not be a 1-Up so soon otherwise.
Luigi collects the 1-Up, then he and Mario head towards the next safe platform using the same techniques. On that platform is a Blue Coin.
Mario: Hey! A Blue Coin!
Luigi: Mario! We aren't allowed to collect Blue Coins in this story! We'll have to come back for it later when the author isn't looking!
After that, Luigi and Mario head towards the next safe platform. Luigi uses the safe path to the left to get across, but uses more water hovering. Mario only uses four platforms to get across: the one to the right that has flames, the one in the middle of the two routes with flames, the platform back on the right with spikes, and the last platform Luigi used with flames. Soon, both Brothers reach the next safe platform.
Luigi: I'm running out of water!
FLUDD2: Use that sprinkler to the left to refill me!
Mario: I wonder how it can still work under all this heat?
After Luigi fills up FLUDD2, the sprinkler breaks.
FLUDD: Oh my! Now how will I fill up?
Mario then notices a crate to the right. He Ground Pounds it to reveal another 1-Up Mushroom, and uses it to refill FLUDD.
FLUDD: Refreshing!
Having filled up their equipment, the two Brothers decide to head onwards. Their next task is to pilot two Mud Boats on the other side of the platform to the last platform.
Luigi: These Mud Boats don't look safe, Mario! Do you really expect this thing to float in lava?
Mario: But Luigi!
Luigi: No buts! I'm not going to the last platform if I have to pilot a Mud Boat! Do you hear me? NO WAY!
Luigi then notices something glimmering far in the distance. Something he hasn't seen since Sirena Beach, after he defeated King Boo...
Luigi: MAMAMIA! MY WINNINGS FROM THE CASINO!
Luigi anxiously gets into his Mud Boat and starts to get across. He reaches the other end, without hitting anything, in ten seconds.
Mario: ...
Mario then decides to pilot his Mud Boat to the last platform, and makes it across.
Mario: Good job, Luigi! We can use these for what's coming next!
Luigi: Which is?
Mario: Well, I forgot the Strategy Guide, but do you really think we just have to scale those clouds overhead to win it all?
Luigi: I guess not. Now, what were you saying about those clouds?
Luigi looks upwards. There are various clouds like the ones in Pianta Village, episode 8 above him.
Luigi: Mamamia! How do we reach the top?
FLUDD2: Looking behind you is a good start!
Luigi and Mario look at the end of the platform, where a Rocket Nozzle awaits. After a last refill, the two start to scale the clouds. But, near the top where three blue clouds are repeatedly moving, Luigi slips!
Luigi: I'm-a goner! HELP!
FLUDD: Quick! Rocket jump!
Luigi rocket jumps before he hits the lava, and lands right on top of a cloud with a third 1-Up Mushroom on it.
Mario: Lucky!
Soon, Luigi catches up to Mario and
they hop onto a red and black cloud at the end. Luigi uses some of the
winnings to refresh him and his bro, then they all prepare for what's coming
next...
