Luigi and Waluigi make their way back to the Foyer and are about to go through the door indicated on their Gameboy Horrors, when suddenly, Luigi’s Gameboy Horror makes a weird tune. Luigi picks it up and presses the A button.
E. Gadd: Hold up a sec, boys! It’s me, Professor E. Gadd!
Luigi: Wow, I didn’t know you could talk to us through our Gameboy Horrors!
Waluigi: Yeah, why didn’t you tell us sooner?
E. Gadd: You never asked! Anyway, I am detecting spirits stronger than we’ve yet seen lurking ahead. I think… it must be some of those Portrait Ghosts that escaped from my gallery!
Waluigi: Portrait Ghosts?
Luigi: Remember, he told us about them while we were in the gallery learning how to use our Gameboy Horrors. Or were you too busy trying to steal stuff from that golden room to pay attention?
Waluigi: Sh-sh-sh-shush!
E. Gadd: Yes, well, as I was saying, you both should know that these Portrait Ghosts are really different from the other ghosts you’ve seen so far. They don’t show their hearts very easily. Nope, not at all.
Luigi: Well how do we catch one?
E. Gadd: Well, when you find one, you should use your Gameboy Horrors to search its heart for clues. Sometimes, you might learn the best way to surprise ‘em! Well, Luigi, Waluigi, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Then the Gameboy Horror goes completely blank.
Waluigi: I guess that means he’s done talking…
Luigi: Enough of that. Let’s get going.
Luigi unlocks the door and they both walk into a dark hallway. Luigi turns on his flashlight, but Waluigi…
Waluigi: Ooo! Money! Mine!
Waluigi runs for it, when suddenly a ghost mouse pops up.
Waluigi: EEK!
Luigi: You’re not afraid of mice, are you?
Waluigi: Well, you are, aren’t you?
Luigi: … Yeah. But they’re still ghosts, so…
Luigi vacuums the mouse ghost easily. Another few pop up, but Luigi and Waluigi suck them up, too.
Waluigi: Well, now that those things are gone… MINE!
Waluigi collects the coins on the ground, which ultimately lead to a door.
Waluigi: All right, let’s go in!
Waluigi tries to open the door, but the door then swings open and slams Waluigi against the wall, causing him to lose most of the coins he just collected. The door didn’t actually lead anywhere, and there is an eerie laughter in the air.
Waluigi: Ugh… ow…
Luigi: …
Waluigi: Don’t say it!
Luigi: I was going to say that this door here is open.
Waluigi: I told you not to say it!
They both go in. The room happens to be a study with a fireplace and a rocking chair.
Waluigi: Eww! Books!
Luigi: I like books!
Waluigi: Nerd…
Luigi: Whatever. Let’s take a look around.
They begin to search the room. Then Luigi finds something interesting.
Luigi: Hey, look! Cheese!
Indeed, there is a hunk of cheese sitting right behind the desk. Waluigi comes over to get a look as well.
Luigi: Hmmm, I wonder…
Luigi checks it with his Gameboy Horror, when suddenly, a Golden Ghost Mouse pops out of it and begind to scurry around the room.
Waluigi: Darn mice! I’ll get you!
Waluigi catches up with it and sucks it up. No sooner does it go into the vacuum do tons of golden coins fly everywhere, as well as a few other valuable items!
Waluigi: HOORAY! MONEY!
Waluigi and Luigi begin to collect the treasures.
Waluigi: Hey, keep your hands off my money!
Luigi: Your money?
Waluigi: Yeah, my money! I found the mouse; I keep the money it had! So stop taking… OUCH!
A book just flew across the room. The Luigis also begin to notice that the rocking chair has begun to rock.
Waluigi (90, just like Trollish Beastfighter!): W-what’s going on?!
Luigi: It must be those Portrait Ghosts E. Gadd was talking about! Get your Gameboy Horror 2 out!
They take out their Gameboy Horrors and look at the chair through them. Indeed, there is a slim ghost in a robe with a mustache reading a book. It doesn’t look anything like the ghosts they've seen before!
Ghost: Ho ho ho! So you can see me, eh? Well, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Neville and this is my study!
Waluigi: This guy just screams snobby!
Neville: Call me names if you wish, but you should know, you will never be able to get me to reveal my heart! Never! Ho ho ho ho…
Luigi: Hmmm, what are we going to do?
Neville: *sigh* You’re beginning to bore me…” *yawn*
While Neville is yawning, the Luigis hear a beating noise. Neville accidentally revealed his heart while yawning.
Waluigi: It’s his heart! Get him!
Luigi gets his Poltergust 3000 and begins to suck Neville up!
Neville (100): OHHHH! HOW COULD I BE SO CARELESS?!
Neville begins to fly around the rom, Luigi struggling to suck him up!
Neville (80): No! Stop! AHH! MY CRYSTALS!
While Neville is being sucked up, he drops several crystal balls on the ground.
Waluigi: Sweet! Mine!
Waluigi dives and collects the crystal balls. Meanwhile Luigi continues to suck up Neville, being dragged slightly along the way.
Neville (40): No! I won’t be captured so easily! Take this!
Neville drops a purple Mushroom as he flies around. It misses Luigi, but hits Waluigi. Immediately, Waluigi shrinks down to a small size and loses most of the coins he just collected.
Waluigi: (growing loudly to softly) NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Neville (10): No is right! I’m about to be sucked up!
Then Luigi makes the finishing touch.
Luigi: Bye-bye, ghosty!
Neville (0): NO! Tell my wife I love her…
Neville disappears in the Poltergust 3000. Suddenly the lights go on and a chest appears on the floor.
Waluigi: (in high-pitched annoying voice) Hey! What about me?
Luigi: Oh don’t worry! That’s just a weak Poison Mushroom. You should be back at your full size right about… Now!
Just then, Waluigi grows back to his normal size.
Waluigi: (normal, still annoying voice) Phew! What a relief! … No wait! It’s not a relief! I lost all my coins!
Luigi: Relax. You got those crystal ball things. And then there’s that chest!
Luigi goes over to the chest and opens it. He finds a key.
Luigi: Another key.
Waluigi: Yeah, that’s something to look forward to…
Their Gameboy Horrors begin to buzz, and they show which room that key unlocks.
Waluigi: Well, let’s go! The sooner we leave, the sooner we can forget this horrible incident!
Waluigi leaves. Luigi begins to leave
too, but then goes back, takes a few books from the shelf for later reading,
then follows him.
