Chapter Six: No Kissing on the First Date
MARIO
I straightened my tie and fixed my collar. I was wearing a black tuxedo, and I had a bouquet of flowers in my hands. They were roses. I was a bit nervous, for I was going out with Lucy. She was a beautiful Koopa girl I had met yesterday. I had found out her name before she left.
I was sitting in my bedroom. The curtains were strewn slightly across the room, and it was a bit messy. I felt a bit guilty going on a date with this person, but I couldn't help myself.
My brother came in the room and looked at me. "You look handsome, Bro. Good luck on your date."
I smiled at him. "Thanks, Luigi."
I went downstairs and saw her waiting for me. "Hello, Mario."
"Hi, Lucy," I said nervously.
"Are you ready?" she asked.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Why, to the Koopa Village dance. Every year there is an annual dance."
I smiled. "Well, okay." She laughed and grabbed me by the hand out into the car.
We drove along the streets of Toad Town in the night. It was beautiful out. Lucy was beautiful too. The night sky shone with stars, and I turned away in disgust. They had betrayed me, and I had no urge to look at them tonight. I tried to think of something to say that was intelligent. "So, Lucy... Do you like... pizza?"
She turned around and beamed. "I love pizza!"
"Well, then I'll get you some at the dance, my treat," I said.
She kissed me on the forehead. "That's so sweet!"
She turned on the radio and was listening to K-rock. "HAHA! That Howard Stern is so funny!"
I was confused. "How do you get human radio stations on that thing?" I asked.
She shot me a glance that made me feel dumb. "Um... Technology. Duh."
We arrived a couple minutes later at Koopa Village. After getting out, I led her into the building. The DJ was there and a whole bunch of Koopas were dancing. They weren't prejudiced here. Koopas danced with Mushroomers. Nimbi danced with Goombas, and Boos danced with humans. Even two males danced and two females danced to show their affection for each other.
We walked out into the center of the dance floor and the DJ started playing a slow song. I grabbed her hand within mine, and put my other one around her waist. We moved slowly, swaying and turning as two lovers often do. I dipped her backward, than up again, and twisted her around. She smiled. The music sped up, and we grinned at each other. We ran over towards the circle of people and started dancing. I got on my head and spun around several times, before grabbing Lucy and spinning around with her. She moved her arms up and down, grooving to the beat. I did a bit of disco and then got on the floor and did the worm.
When we were both so tired we couldn't focus, we stopped and went over to the snack bar. I put 20 gold coins on the table. "One extra large pizza, please." The chef took the money, and went into the back to work on the pizza.
I stared at her and she stared back. "You're so beautiful," I said.
She smiled. "I think that of you as well."
Finally our pizza came out of the oven and he gave it to us. "Here you go. Careful, it's a bit hot," I said.
She blew on it, then took a bite. I took a piece myself, blew on it, then ate some. It was really good! Although I've made better. "Hey, maybe sometime when you're at my house we could have... homemade pizza? Made by me." I blushed. She blushed as well.
"That sounds really nice." We finished our pizza, and left in the car to take us home.
We got home and sat on the bed. We blushed. I kissed her, and then looked in my pocket. "I want to give this to you. It was a small locket that my mother gave me."
She smiled. "Thank you."
I smiled. I knew she felt safe with me, and I promised to myself that I would take care of her...
Chapter Seven: Runaways
BOWSER
I sat on my throne and grinned. I was master of all I surveyed. I could bend people to my will, get whatever I want. I breathed in deeply and opened my mouth to roar. I let out a long loud one, that made the beasts tremble with fear. I was the King of the Koopas!!!
Lava bubbled all around me, and soldiers brought me Koopa Kolatm (made by me). But, I couldn't help feeling a bit guilty. I was also angry. My son had made out with a Yoshi, not only that but a hybrid Yoshi, and had stormed out angry. I felt a bit bad for him, but was also enraged that he had the nerve to do that.
I pounded my fist angrily down on one of the arms of my throne. I called two Koopatrol over to me. "You two. Capture Karma and Ludwig. Make sure my son is all right, but tightly chained," I said.
"And the hybrid?" they asked.
"Kill her." I made a motion of sliding my claw across my neck, and laughed evilly.
"YES SIR!" The two Koopatrols left the room with an army of Koopatrols, Magikoopas, and Boom Booms.
"Ludwig. You disgust me," I said.

We trudged across the barren hills of Dark Land looking for somewhere to spend the night. It was almost midnight and we were incredibly tired. Our feet hurt each time they hit the twigs and rocks that were lying on the ground. Karma had fainted in my arms because she was so exhausted, so I had to carry her. She was light, and pretty easy to carry, and I wanted to make sure she was okay. I loved her. I don't know why father wouldn't except that.
I stopped. I panted and looked to see if anything would serve as good shelter. I saw over in the distance a small bundle of branches and leaves. Perfect. I took a leaf and placed it on the ground before lying Karma on it, then putting a leaf on top of her as well.
I then got to work on tying several branches together. They were thick, and some would make for good fire. The others would be used for making tents. Now... what to eat? I saw a small-sized Dry Bones with a little flesh there walking behind a tree. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
I approached the creature and attempted to burn it with my fire breath. It jumped out of the way and threw a bone at my head. "You little twerp!" I growled. I ducked inside my shell and shot at him, breaking it into several pieces, all of which I roasted. I grabbed pieces of flesh from the ground and carried them over. I put a piece on two leaves and pushed one in front of Karma and me. Then I finally finished making the tent, and put it above us.
I burned a couple of twigs, then put them on the ground neatly in the middle of us. I put the flesh on the fire to cook it and remove some of the germs from the decaying meat. Karma woke up when she smelt something burning. "IS THE CAPITOL ON FIRE?" she asked.
"No. Calm down, Karma. You're with me, remember? We ran away from my father," I said calmly.
"Dead Koopa flesh?"
"Only thing to eat around here." I handed her a piece.
"Er... Thanks..." she replied.
We raised our flesh in a toast. Karma chewed some. I chewed some. We both vomited at the same time. "YUCK!" Karma clawed at her tongue as did I, realizing too late I had claws.
"Ow..." She cringed. "It's okay, I'll be fine. Boom Boom tongues are especially thick. It was almost as if I was a human biting his tounge. Well anyway, there has to be something else to eat here besides this putrid %^%."
She frowned. "Wiggy!"
I sighed. "Sorry. And would you stop calling me Wiggy? It's getting annoying. I'd wrather have you call me Big Daddy...."
"What was that?"
"Nothing."

Several Koopatrols marched forward through the gates of Bowser's castle, led by an assassin Bowser had hired. "Kill the girl, capture the boy." Got it. He was a tall human with black hair and green eyes. He was wearing a suit that seemed to give off some kind of energy, and was carrying a spear that was surging with electricity. He bent down on his knees and wiped a bit of dust off the ground with his finger. He felt it, and then sniffed it. He closed his eyes as if in deep concentration.
"Excuse me... I'm kinda tired..." a Koopatrol started. A spear was hurtled and the poor Koopa soldier was impaled. Blood oozed from the dead Koopa.
He gave them a dirty look. "I am in control do you understand?" They nodded.
"They are this way!" He pointed foward and the Koopatrols marched. The assassin named Morcious grinned. Bowser was paying him 200,000,000 gold coins (200,000 American money for first timers) to hunt down these two. It was unfortunate he was not allowed to kill the boy, but at least he was able to kill one. Of course, he could always beat the boy. Bowser had never said not to do that. Bowser had told him to be rough with his son. The assassin laughed. There was no problem with that.
He marched foward, ready for a good hunt...

Karma and I had found a small Buzzy Beetle, but she said she would not eat it and wouldn't speak to me, so I found a ferocious Cheep Cheep, which I had to kill and roast, and then we finally had something to eat. After we were done eating, I moved a bit closer to Karma. "You know, that was good in all, but it didn't really fill up my appetite..." I smiled.
"Oh, Ludwig." She blushed. I embraced her and we kissed. The night sky was large and spacious, and the moon was full. It was the perfect place for a little romance.
She kissed me and I kissed her back. I put my hand on her face. "You're beautiful..." I said, muffled by her own lips. "Father is a jerk. I don't care what he says about you. I don't care if you're a hybrid. You can't help it, and besides, what's wrong with being a hybrid?"
She laughed. "What makes us so different from Bowser? The way I look? The color of my skin? All trivial things." She put a finger to my mouth. "But Ludwig, we can talk later. Kiss now."
I smiled. As we lay there out under the stars, I felt as if we were two heavenly bodies. No. Not two. One. We were one.
Soon we tired and fell asleep, not noticing the galop of Yoshis...
Chapter Eight: And The Contestants Are...
WARIO
I looked down and regretted doing so. Lava was all around me and I had nowhere to go. I was on a rusted platform high above a sea of flame. So I did what I could. I jumped. I just grabbed the tip of the next platform and was about to fall off. The sky was red and I felt my fingers slipping. I strained with all my might and finally pulled myself back up. I jumped to the next platform before jumping to solid ground. I thanked the stars for that, then continued to run.
I have seen it before. It always follows me. Relentless. It never gets tired. It never gets hungry. It never stops just because it "wants to".
A cloud of darkness covers its face, never revealing it to me. I ran the dark and dysmal streets past empty houses. Out of the sky a horrid shadow appeared. It was the shadow of a nightmarish creature, and it fed off of my fear. It was a knight. It was armored from head to toe in the color of the darkest corners of your mind. Pure evil resonated from the beast. I saw its red eyes stare into me, like daggers. Those haunting red eyes. They leered at me. Out of the dark sky it came, rushing with full speed, trying to impale me. I ran the other way. Only too late did I realize.
They had me surrounded. Out of the mist came the robed figure. My eyes grew wide as it grabbed me tightly, claws digging into my stomach. The knight ran forward towards me, and I gasped. I felt the cold icy breath of the demon behind me and it chilled me to the bone.
I screamed into the air. "HELP ME!!!" I cried in frustration. "HELP ME!!!" I tried to look for someone willing to help. I looked to the stars. I looked for my brother. I looked for anyone willing. But no one was there. Sweat ran profusely down my forehead and I struggled to get free, but I couldn't.
The knight stopped and peered down at me. My eyes were full of horror. He sneered. "What a pathetic little man... Tell me, do I scare you?" This was a stupid question, for it knew the answer. "I said, DO I SCARE YOU??" I nodded sheepishly. It laughed evilly. "Of course you do. But then again, who wouldn't be?" It was toying with me.
"WHO ARE YOU?! WHERE AM I?! WHY ARE YOU TORTURING ME?!"
It turned and brought his face close to mine. "For who I am, you will find out in good time. Why am I torturing you? Because I can, and because it's what I do best. I also want to tell you that, wherever you go... whatever you do... I will be there. When you're huddled up in your bed sheets at night, I will be there.
"I always was. When you are alone in the dark... I will be there to increase your fear of it. You can't get rid of me. I'll tell you who I am, you pathetic wretch. I am darkness. I am night. I am the demon in your dreams!!! For now, goodbye. Oh, here is a little reminder to let you know I am real." It swung its lance forward, making a small gash in my stomach. Although it was small, it hurt a lot. I bent down on my knees and clutched my stomach. It laughed at my pain before turning to purple mist and floating away, as did the hooded spirit behind me...
I woke up and was drenched in sweat. It was the same dream. I looked around my plaster-covered room. My covers were tattered and thrown about as if there had been a quarrel. The curtains were torn up and the poles were hanging off from the wall.
I sighed. Every night it had been the same dream. The same haunting dream. Every night I always got closer to finding out how it ended. Every night I got convinced more and more that it was real. But it couldn't be. Could it?
Me and my brother Waluigi walked along the Toad Town Bridge and into the woods, following the map that we had gotten. It led us deep into the woods. I looked at the sky, seeing it darken and begin to rain. As we trudged on it got darker. Weird, I thought to myself. Why did it change from a perfectly sunny day into a dreary downpoor?
When it started to thunder, we had to run. I ran through the damp grass and trees. The sky was bleak and lightning was very close. Waluigi ran along with me, trying to keep up. He slipped and fell and I had to pick him up. "Hurry!" I said. Lightning flashed in front of us and the tree fell to the ground, almost crushing me, but I ran out of the way.
A Boo apeared out of nowhere. Great, first a thunderstorm, then Boos. Something grabbed my brother's leg and he shouted. I rushed over to him and grabbed his arm, pulling out several Dry Bones with him. "Aww... ##%#." I punched a Dry Bones and it shattered, but there were more. Out of the air as fast as light, literally, I was struck by a bolt of lightning. I fell to the ground, charred and breathing heavily. Waluigi ran over and gave me a 1-Up mushroom, completely healing me. I catapulted forward, bashing a Boo and sending it reeling. We were apparently late for the show, and needed to make it there fast.
I piledrived a Boo and threw a Dry Bones into another one. While they were recovering we ran, but they followed us. Out of the darkness there was a large fort-type structure, and according to the map that was where we were supposed to be. I ran forward and the both of us pounded on the door to be let in. The door opened and a robed creature stepped out as I gasped. "You!" Then I felt silly as the person took off his robe.
"Are you here for the gameshow?" he asked.
"Er... Yeah?" I said.
As we gazed around the humongous walls of the structure, we gasped. "Wow, this is pretty extreme for a gameshow," I said.
"We wanted to make the place flashy," he said. "Now you can get to meet the other contestents!"
A small Podoboo floated over. He wore a green baseball cap, and looked quite friendly. He had a small dimple on his left cheek, which made him look cute. "Hi, my name's Will," he said.
"The name's-a Wario!" I said, striking a pose.
"Nice to meet you. Good luck out there." He turned to leave.
Next was a tall, purple, female Yoshi. She had wings and a sword. Long green hair came from atop her head and a shiny silver hilt was at her side.
"Hey-a, my name's-a Wario. You're-a pretty!"
She sent me a dirty glance. "Stay away from me and I won't have to kill you." She went back to her room.
"She's-a not very nice," my brother stated.
The host apologized. "Sorry, Eliza is very dark and mysterious. She doesn't like to be bothered."
Next, a boy Mushroomer came out. He looked to be in his teen years, and wore loose-fitting jeans and a baggy shirt with "Metalica" written on it. He had little or no hair from what I could tell from under the Mushroom cap. "Hey, dudes. I'm Chris. What's up? I gotta chill now." He went back torwards his room.
A burly-looking Boo with an axe stepped out, and he was twice the size of me. He had a beard and large sharp fangs. "Morgo like you. But if Morgo see you in ring," he made a sweeping motion with his fin across his throat, "Morgo kill you." He floated torwards his room.
I turned towards the host. "What does he mean by that?" I asked.
He waved my comment away with his hand. "Nothing."
I got a good look at the gameshow host for the first time. His hazel eyes sparkled and his brown hair was neat. I turned away, suspicious. "There are two others coming, but they are not here yet." He said. "Now, why don't you get some rest?"
When we saw our rooms, they looked comfy. I sat down and said good night to Waluigi. Before I turned off the light, my stomach hurt. Was it from the fight in the forest? I didn't remember getting hit there.
I pulled up my shirt and gasped at what I saw. A small gash in my stomach...
