Long ago, there was a peaceful kingdom
and near that kingdom was a shrine. That shrine held three elements that
were granted by the worshiped Gods. These three elements are Fire, Water,
and Light. The elements rested in peace in the shrine. Until one day the
Element King decided to capture the elements, not knowing their power.
So he lived and reigned forever with these three elements in the Element
Kingdom...
Toad: Peach! I just got off the phone. The king of the Element Kingdom is coming. He says there is something urgent he must do.
Peach: The Rlement Kingdom? I have never heard of that!
Toad: Well he's coming. Dress in your nicest clothes because I have decided to have a welcome party!
Peach: Oh great! Maybe I should invite Mario and Luigi!
Toad: Great idea, Peach! I'll send the invitations ASAP!
Toad sends invitations to everyone Peach Addressed. Mario and Luigi receive their invitation first.
Mario: MAMAMIA! A PARTY!
Luigi: Wow... Oh, it's in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Mario: What's so sad about that?
Luigi: Well, why not try some place new? I mean it's always in the kingdom. Why can't it be on a tropical island or something?
Mario: Well it says the Element King is coming, so be on your worst behavior!
Luigi: You mean best behavior.
Mario: You know what I mean!
Luigi: No, Mario, I don't.
Mario: Luigi, you're a pain!
Luigi: Well at least I don't torment little kids that come to our door on Halloween!
Mario: Well at least I'm not smart like you!
Luigi: Why thank you!
Mario: Oh, I give up!
Later that night, Mario and Luigi arrive right as the Element King arrives in his nice limo.
Mario: Why don't we have a nice limo?
Luigi: Well, Mario, we are plumbers and buying a lemo would make us go bankrupt!
Mario: Then we'll live with the princess!
Luigi: You know what happened when she had a sleepover, and you thought you were Ludwig and mixed gas with fire, thinking it would create a Fire Flower.
Mario: I didn't know gas was flammable!
Peach: Welcome, Mario Brothers! Please sit down and have some punch. Oh, and please make a good impression on the king. He has been dying to meet you ever since Toad received the phone call.
King: Why hello there, Princess! What a beautiful night to have a party!
Peach: Great to have you, Your Highness!
Mario bursts out laughing.
King: Well excuse me, but what is so funny?
Peach: Oh, forget him. Uhh, where is the princess?
King: She died a while back.
Mario starts laughing again.
King: You find it funny that my beautiful wife is dead? I shall stand no nonsense in this kingdom! I could have you removed in the blink of an eye.
Mario: Oh yeah? And how are you going to do that, BIG HEAD?
King: One more word out of you, pasta breath, and I will...
Peach: Let's have dinner, now, shall we?
They all gather around a table. Mario won't stop staring at King Element. The king whispers to Peach.
King: Why does he continue to stare at me?
Peach: He stares at all new people. He studies everything you do.
King: That's stalking, isn't it?
Peach: Yes, but he has a different way of doing it.
King: And what is that?
Peach: Well, he often copies you. Say something!
King: HI, MARIO!
Mario: HI, MARIO!
King: Eat now!
Mario: Eat now!
King: I cannot stand this no longer!
Mario: I cannot-
Luigi punches Mario in the stomach. Mario falls off his chair.
Peach: Oh, goodness.
Peach looks up at the clock. It says 8:00 PM.
Peach: Oh look, everyone, it's time to go.
Yoshi: But the party doesn't end 'til-
Peach: Leave... NOW!!!
Everyone runs out and leaves, including the Mario Brothers.
Peach: Now, King, what is it that you really came here for?
King: Well you see, I came across these elements, Water, Fire, and Light! I've had them for six years until they started acting up! They would destroy my kingdom day after day. So I decided to give them to another kingdom, and I chose you!
Peach: Ok, so what do I do with them?
King: Keep them safe. After six years, pass them down to another kingdom. But whatever you do, don't break this jar.
King Element pulls a jar from his overcoat.
Peach: WOW! They're beautiful!!!
King: Yes, aren't they? Well, I oughta be going now. Keep them safe no matter what! They are worth a lot of money, so keep them secret too!
But Bowser, who happens to be using his almighty telescope, is listening in on the conversation.
Bowser: Three elements, eh? Those would look nice on Clawdia. I'll steal them! That's what I'll do. But how? I'll make a loud entrance!
Later that night Peach places the jar next to her bed. Toadsworth tucks her in and she goes to sleep.
Toadsworth: Now remember, Princess, if you need anything, come into the next room!
Peach: Don't worry, I'll remember!
Toadsworth: Great then, goodnight!
Right when Toadsworth clothes the door, Bowser comes bursting through the window and snatches the jar and locks the door.
Bowser: BWHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! Now what are you going to do, Princess?
Toadsworth: Princess, unlock this door! What is going on in there? Did you fall off the bed again?
Peach: Let go of that jar, nasty King Koopa!
Bowser: That's the thing. NEVER!
Bowser jumps out the window and hops in his copter. Mario comes bursting in the room to say sorry to Peach, but trips on the floor and hits a glass bottle that holds Peach's flowers. The bottle sails into Bowser, who drops the jar of elements onto the ground below. The jar breaks and the elements are scattered everywhere.
Peach: NOOOOOOOO!!!
The elements then return to the temples from which they were first retrieved by the Element King.
Peach: Mario! How could you?
Mario: Well, I was just coming to say sorry!
Peach: Tomorrow we go visit King Element!
The night passes and Peach drives to the Marios' house. Mario and Luigi are waiting outside.
Peach: Ready to go?
Luigi: After I heard the story from Mario, of course I'm ready!
Peach: Good then...
Mario: Let's-a go!
One hour passes and they arrive in the Element Kingdom. They walk up the many flights of stairs and arrive at the shrine in which the king has placed new elements. The Marios arrive at the right time because they see the king as he casting a Shadow Power.
Peach: Uhh, excuse me!
King: Oh, hello there. I'm trying to stick this shadow demon into this bottle. He won't go! Hey, aren't you that lady I gave the elements to?
Peach: Yeah, well about that...
King: Don't tell me you freed them.
Peach: Well it was an accident. See, Bowser got hit and...
King: DON'T YOU SEE WHAT COULD HAPPEN?!
Toadsworth: Now don't yell at the princess.
Mario and Luigi are shaking in the backround.
King: With all three elements freed, they might regain their power and take back what they want.
Peach: Which means?
King: The Water element will take all the water in the world and grow to an enourmous size and reign. The Fire element will take all heat from the world, leaving us in the cold. And the Light element will turn this world into black and white. Then they will combine and rule the world!
Mario: How-a do we stop them?
King: You must go to their seperate temples and defeat the demon inside them. Then they shall be freed and come to me. So all four of you shall embark on a journey to rescue all three elements and bring them back to me. But hey! Once you destroy the demon, you take their power. So one of you can have the power of water, and so on...
Toadsworth: Well I think an old man should-
King: Nonsense! Here, I'll grant you this Shadow Power that I rescued, Toadsworth. All you have to do is defeat this demon.
Toadsworth uses his cane and whacks the demon on the head, knocking it unconscious. The king then destroys the demon.
King: Well then, here you go! You learned the Power of Shadows. Call on the dead to come and help you whenever you are in need of assistance. Also you can use Shadow Power to sneak through walls and maybe turn invisible. Of course, I have never had this power so I don't know what it's capable of. But this is a very delicate power, so use it wisely. Good luck!
Luigi: So wh...where should we start?
King: I recommend going to the Water temple, then Fire and finally Light!
Toadsworth is in the backround making skeletons pop out of the ground.
Toadsworth: I could do this all day!
Peach: Let's go, Toadsworth!
Peach drags him outside and they start their journey to the Water temple.
King (from a far distance): GOOD LUCK!!!
Marios: BYE!!!
Chapter 1: The Demon of the Water
Toadsworth: Wow, this power is great. It's like the power inside me has cured all my pains and weeknesses!
Peach: Look! A sign ahead. What does it say, Mario?
Mario: 100% cotton, 200% Polyester. Is that possible?
Luigi: Mario, the sign is not in your shirt.
Luigi turns Mario's head toward the sign. Unfortunately Mario is looking backwords.
Mario: elpmet daeha?
Luigi: Mario, look the RIGHT WAY!
Mario: Oh, silly me. It says Temple Ahead!
Peach: Good, then it must be the Water temple because this is the way the king told us to go!
A ruffle is heard through the trees.
Mario: I-a here something!
Luigi: Ma... Mama... Mamamia! IT's A... Oh, it's a cute monkey!
Monkey: Hello there!
Peach: Nice to meet you!
Toadsworth: Good evening!
Monkey: Indeed! Anyway I sense you are heading toward the Water Kingdom, right? Well you'll never make it without something of mine I've kept for generations. It's called a water crystal. Without it you'll never make it through the temple.
Peach: What's it used for?
Monkey: I shall explain its properties! This crystal is used mainly for switches and battle. The temple is underwater, so deep that neither a man nor beast could make it there without drowning. So there is a switch that will cause a huge bubble to pop under the temple, causing it to rise to the top of the water. That will give you enough time to get in the temple, but you only have ten seconds to make it quick.
Mario: I sense-a something strange. You were waiting for someone to come to the temple, weren't you, monkey face?
Peach: Is this true?
Monkey: Well, um... Yes it is. You see, a long time ago that temple used to be a place where all forest creatures gathered to dance and have fun. One day we saw a huge flash outside! We went to go check and saw a blue bubble coming toward us. All of a sudden it struck the ground, making the grass turn to water! Then the temple started to sink slowly. Just slowly enough for us to escape, that is except for my wife. I think she is still alive in there, but I'm afraid to try to save her myself because I would not make it. But I knew that one day heroes would come to this temple and save her. And to me, this day has come! So please, I'm begging you! SAVE MY WIFE!
Luigi: You've got it!
Toadsworth: Quickly, we must hurry. We don't know how much more time this poor girl monkey has!
Mario: Let's-a go!
They walk further down the path and arrive at a giant lake. They look down it and only see darkness.
Peach: Look! I see the switch in the middle of this giant lake.
Luigi: I'm not jumping in!
Peach: Don't worry, Luigi, Toadsworth is!
Toadsworth: I say, I shall not!
Peach: But you have the Shadow Power!
Toadsworth: Can't we draw straws or something?
Peach: Toadsworth!
Toadsworth: Oh fine!
Toadsworth summons a purple cloud to appear. He jumps on and they make their way to the middle of the lake. All of a sudden the lake starts to bubble.
Toadsworth: Um, guys? Umm... Guys!
Mario spots two giant, yellow eyes coming through the water!
Mario: Holy Cheese Cubes. LEAPING LEFTOVERS! Preferin Pasta!
Luigi: GET TO THE POINT!
Mario: LOOK!
Peach: *GASP*!
Luigi: Toadsworth! Hurry it up.
Toadsworth: I'm rrying!
The eyes near the surface. Toadsworth Is frantically trying to make the cloud go faster, but it won't.
Luigi: Toadsworth, you have about 10.39583 seconds!
Peach: HURRY!
The eyes are nearing, but they can't identify the figure because of the darkness. Mario is biting his nails.
Toadsworth: Ohhhhhhhh!!!
A strange moaning sound is heard from under the water. The whole lake is bubbling.
Luigi: 5.395 seconds!!!
Toadsworth: OHHH! I'm going to have to jump!
Luigi: 2.38 seconds!!!
By now they can identify the creature. It has an enourmous tail, and almost looks like an eel.
Luigi: 0.345 seconds!!!
Toadsworth jumps!
Toadsworth: I... say!!!
He misses the platform but throws the crystal into the bin. Right then the monster emerges from the water, about to eat Toadsworth, but disappears because of the crystal. Toadsworth is sent flying back to his friends.
Peach: Yeah Toadsworth!
The temple pops from the water and they run across the stone platforms to the entrance. Mario is forced to carry Toadsworth across because of his exhaustion. They enter damp and gloomy temple.
Mario: We've made it!
Luigi: You can say that again!
Mario: We've made it!
Luigi: ??? Oh whatever!
Toadsworth: Oh my, am I tired.
Toadsworth lays his head on a tile. The tile of course sinks into the ground to reveal a passageway.
Peach: Good job, Toadsworth!
Toadsworth: Huh, wha? OH! I say, a passageway!
Mario: Oooo! Toadsworth rhymed!
Luigi: Does that matter at this time?
Mario: No, but...
Luigi: But nothing. Now Mario, you go first.
Mario: Fine!
Mario frolics his way across the stone bridge. He gets to the end and yells back that everything is ok. Then Toadsworth heads over, but on a dark cloud. Then Peach crosses, and finally Luigi.
Peach: Well, that wasn't so bad.
Mario: Is there a bathroom?
Luigi: NO.
Mario: You haven't answered my question yet.
Luigi: Does NO ring a bell?
Mario: No.
Luigi: You need help.
Mario: No.
Luigi: Say something besides NO!
Mario: No... thank you!
Mario claps his hands like a monkey crashing symbols.
Toadsworth: LOOK, PRINCESS!
The Marios enter a giant ballroom.
Peach: This must be where they had the parties and dancing!
Luigi goes over to a dusty record player and blows the dust off.
Luigi: Hey guys, look! An old record player. Hmm... Anyone heard of the Koopa Brothers?
Toadsworth: Yes! They were an old, jazzy-classical band when I was kneehigh to a Koopa shell! Oh, they played the best!
Luigi turns it on. It starts to play some jazzy tunes.
Toadsworth: Princess, would thou like to dance?
Peach: Sure!
Mario: Luigi, you know you want to dance... with me!
Luigi: Never in my plumbing lifetime!
Mario: Hmm. Jealous!
(All of a sudden the record player shuts off.)
Luigi: What happened?
Toadsworth: Princess, you might want to take cover.
Peach: From what?
They all look at the giant window hanging over an altar. A shadow passes it.
Mario: Ummm, guys!
Peach: Oh, that.
Luigi: Mario, I think we are all in trouble.
Then the water spirit appears on the altar. Mario runs up to grab it when the window breaks and water comes gushing in.
Toadsworth: Oh my, we are all going to drown!
The door they came in shuts and the floor starts to sink.
Peach: I think the floor is about to break!
The water is up to Toadsworth's head right when the floor breaks. The Marios are sent falling in a dark, black area. For some reason they see water flowing up, while they are going down. They see spirits dancing and the Marios fall asleep. Finally they land unconscious on the ground in the middle of a chamber. Right in front of them is a giant door, but with a lock!
Mario: Mamamia! Where are we?
Toadsworth: Hey look! A treasure chest!
Peach: Wkat do you think is in it?
Luigi: Well I don't know, but I bet it has to do with that giant door right there.
The Marios look up at a giant door that is almost as tall as the Mushroom castle.
Peach: Woah. That's big!
Luigi: Well, someone grab the chest!
Toadsworth uses his powers to open the chest. Then a giant Piranha Plant pops out.
Piranha: If you want the key, then you must pass a vigerous test. You must collect the giant crystal at the end of this test. Those that do not have the water crystal will not be able to play this game.
Luigi: We have it.
Piranha: Then watch your step and good luck. Although you may not use any powers at all, so I must take this old grandpa's power.
Toadsworth: Who you callin' old? WHY I OUGHTA...
Peach: Toadsworth! Please!
Mario: So-a how do we get the crystal?
Piranha: Easy, make it past the obstacles! First make it through the short pipe and hit the button at the end.
Peach: Toadsworth, this is your job.
Piranha: While dodgeing all the knives!
Toadsworth: Wha?!
Luigi: Look, Toadsworth, you must. It's our only hope!
Toadsworth: I can't believe I'm doing this. But ok!
Mario: I can't believe it's not butter!
Luigi: Mario, that was random.
Mario: You're random.
Luigi: I'm random! Who blurts out to everyone "I can't believe it's not butter"?
Mario: No, really, I can't believe it's not butter!
Peach: Just go, Toadsworth!
Toadsworth climbs through the small hole, dodging all the blades. One slits his shirt, but no damage is caused.
Toadsworth: Oh! I made it!
Toadsworth whacks the button and a bridge appears, letting the others go across.
Piranha: Now you must make it across an invisible bridge! One person must make it across without falling into the lava. Then hit the switch!
Peach: I nominate Mario!
Luigi: You're kidding!
Mario: WHEEEEE!
Mario starts to run across the bridge and somehow makes it step by step!
Mario: Ta-da!!!
Everyone gets across.
Piranha: Wow, that was completly amazing! For your last task, you must defeat, COPY LUIGI! Everything Luigi does, his copy does, only ten times worse!
An exact formation of Luigi zooms down.
Piranha: I call him, ROBO LUIGI!
ROBO: I am robot Luigi. Pleased to meet you... TO YOUR DOOM!
Luigi: Oh no, what should I do?
Mario: Throw a fireball!
Peach: No, because that won't kill him. It will only throw one ten times as bad!
Toadsworth: Princess has a point. If only I had my Shadow Power!
Peach: But what do we do?
Luigi jumps up and down, and so does Robot Luigi.
Luigi: I'm going to try something. Mario, get me a Bob-omb and a tennis racket!
Mario: Where am I going to find a Bob-omb and a tennis racket?
Toadsworth: WIll my cane do?
Luigi: Yeah, but I also need a Bob-omb!
Peach: I could use the one Toadsworth got me.
Toadsworth: But that's a special one. It can release refreshing powder to cure any ailment. We could use it after a battle or something!
Peach: But we need it now! So let Luigi use it.
Toadsworth: Fine, but don't come crying to me if you get hurt in battle!
Peach: Here you go, Luigi!
Luigi: Ok, let's play some baseball!
Luigi hits the Bob-omb and the robot hits it back. They keep hitting it back and forth, waiting to see who will mess up. Of course Luigi is really working since the robot hits it harder. This goes on for about three hours.
Luigi: I can't do it much longer!
Mario: ZZZZZ... Um, wha?
Peach: *yawn* Are you winning, Luigi?
Toadsworth: You're destroying my cane!
Luigi: Errggggg!
Peach: Oh. I completly forgot! Guys. we must help Luigi!
Mario: How about we distract Robot Luigi?
Peach: GREAT IDEA!!! I'll go tickle him, if he is tickleish... Toadsworth, make funny faces.
Toadsworth: I only do that to babies!
Peach: DON'T JUDGE ME!
Toadsworth: Ok, ok! Calm down.
Peach: Mario, you just do whatever.
Mario: Okey dokey!
Peach: Let's move!
Peach runs to the robot and tickles him. But he doesn't budge. Toadsworth makes funny faces but the robot doesn't even glance at him. Mario just sits on the ground and looks at the robot. The robot looks over and starts to laugh, when Luigi hits it with the Bob-omb. The robot is sent flying into the lava.
Piranha: I can't believe it! Ok, then here you go. This giant crystal will grant you access through the door and into the shrine of the Water Spirit! Do whatever you want with it! You, of course, deserve it! Thank you for playing, and have a nice day!
Peach: Wait! You said you would give us a key? What would the key unlock?
Piranha: Um, nothing...
Peach: You're hiding something!
Piranha: No!
The Piranha Plant disappears.
Luigi: Oh forget about it. Let's just go get the spirit.
Toadsworth: And I have my power back!
Mario: Let's-a go!
The Marios run to the door and open it. They go into a giant room almost twice the size of the whole Mushroom Kingdom. There are see-through walls which hold back tons of water with little fish! Then there is a giant altar with the spirit.
Peach: Wow! We've made it!
Mario: Who shall we grant the power of water to?
Peach: What, we are able to grant power of spirits?
Mario: Well it says that on the scroll above the altar!
Luigi: Mamamia! Look at the windows! A fish is growing!
Toadsworth: Oh no! The glass is breaking!
A giant Piranha Fish breaks through the glass. The glass then seals back up.
Fish: What does thou want?!
Luigi: Um... W.w.we need the water spirit.
Fish: I shall grant nobody the power of water. It shall stay here no matter what you think. Of course if you think you can fight me for it, go ahead!
Mario: Deal-a!
Peach: MARIO!
Fish: Then it's settled!
The fish changes into a giant Blooper with electric tentacles.
Blooper: You drown in eternal water!
Toadsworth tries using shadow demons but nothing happens. Mario tries to pull a cork from the Blooper's mouth, but there is no cork. Peach trys to punch it, but it whacks her away.
Luigi: I think I have an idea, what if we throw water on its ELECTRIC tentacles?
Toadsworth: Worth a try!
Luigi grabs a bucket and fills it with water from a small puddle from the crack that was made earlier.
Luigi: Take this, you oversized squid!
Luigi throws the bucket on the Blooper.
Blooper: NO!!! EYAKYAKAYAYAKAyAK!!!
Blooper gets electricuted. His tentacles fall off and he is left with only his body.
Mario: HA! Now what are you going to do, bounce?
Blooper: Maybe you underestimated my power!
Blooper power up by 100! He sends a giant electric storm at the Marios! They are sent flying across the room against the wall..
Mario: Mamamia!
Blooper: HA! Now what are you going to do?
Toadsworth: I only have one shot at this!
Toadsworth fires at the wall and water seethes through. Then a whole flood comes through, knocking the spirit off the table. The spirit rolls over to Luigi.
Luigi: Oh my back... OH! Hey, what's this?
Luigi grabs the spirit and is granted the water ability!
Luigi: WOAH! I FEEL GREAT... and refreshed!
Peach: Luigi! It's up to you! *cough* Defeat Blooper!
Luigi: RIGHT! Get ready, Blooper, for a horrible time!
Luigi summons up a giant tidal wave and knocks over the Blooper.
Blooper: Errg... I can't get up! Where are my tentecles when I need them?
The Blooper flops up and causes an earthquake to attack Luigi, but Luigi stops it with a water tornado and sends it twirling toward Blooper. Blooper is sent flying toward the glass and destroys it, and water comes flushing in!
Luigi: Ok, guys, we need to get out of here! Maybe the Piranha Plant will know how!
The Marios run to the chest and open it.
Piranha: Hi, and welcome to... Oh, it's you guys!
Luigi threatens the Piranha Plant with water.
Piranha: OH MY! YOU HAVE THE POWER OF WATER!
Peach: So?
Piranha: You are worthy of holding the key! It leads to Princess Monkey! She was trapped in this chest I reside in.
Luigi: Wait, I don't get it.
Piranha: Don't you see, Monkey and I were cursed by the Blooper. Anyone who rubs this chest or opens it will free me to make you play a game. Anyone who holds the power of water will have beaten the Blooper, so you must have! Now you may escape through this chest. Once inside you will see a giant door where the monkey is. Open it and you will escape this temple. Of course, you might be wondering, I was cursed to make anyone who comes play this game, then tell the Blooper if you won that you are worthy of battling him. Quickly! Into the chest you go!
The Marios enter a white, cloudy room. They see a giant, red door ahead. They also see a monkey.
Monkey: Hello, have you come to save me? We couldn't open the door ourselves with the key because we were cursed! Only those who bear water can open the door. Do you bear water?
Luigi: Indeed we do!
Monkey: Quickly! Then open this door!
Luigi opens the door and they are vanished outside. The first monkey is waiting.
Monkey Husband: Princess Monkey! You have come back!
Princess Monkey: Indeed I have.
Monkey Husband: Thank you so much. Please come back whenever you want!
Peach: Indeed we will.
Mario: Can we go now to Fire Kingdom?
Toadsworth: I guess we must head there next.
Luigi: Well, then let's get going!
Mario: BYE!
Monkeys: BYE!
The Marios leave. Just about 20 minutes later, the Piranha Plant meets up with them.
Piranha: I finally caught you. Thank you again for saving me. I would like to give you this.
Piranha gives them a fire stone.
Piranha: This stone will give you access to the fire temple. Please be careful, and GOOD LUCK!
Peach: Thank you!
The Piranha Plant flies away.
Luigi: I wonder what's in store for us next!
Toadsworth: Let's go to a hotel or something, I'm bushed!
