Phil: Previously on, The Amazing Race MK: Eight teams left the beautiful Delfino Plaza on Isle Delfino, and raced to Pianta Village by helicopter. After waiting the night, most teams opted to gain an adrenaline rush on the Mushrooms. While a few teams fell:
Toadette: AHHH!
Mallow: Ack!
I fell!
Mallow: Woah!
Ah! Ack!
Phil: Most persevered. Teams then found the first Yield of the race. Some teams had a sense of morals:
***Yoshi: It just wasn’t our style.
Phil: But one team had other plans. Bowser and Jr. were yielded by Peach and Daisy. After falling behind tremendously at the Roadblock, Toad and Toadette, Mario and Luigi, and Yoshi and Pink became runners up to DK and Diddy. Despite being yielded, Bowser and Jr. did their best at the Roadblock:

Phil: -and survived the leg. Instead, it was Geno and Mallow who were eliminated. Now: seven teams remain. Who will be eliminated… next?
The title theme plays with a new red X over Geno and Mallow. Jungle music plays.
Phil: This, is Pianta Village. While most of Isle Delfino went ahead with the times, this village, which is actually built on top of a giant tree, stayed with the past. The annual fluff festival has made this place famous. One of the most popular attractions is the fluff clouds. This was the fifth pitstop… in a race around the MK. Teams arrived here for a 12-hour mandatory rest period. Can Bowser and Bowser Jr, despite being yielded, climb out of last place? DK and Diddy, who were the first to arrive at 11:15 AM, will depart, at 11:15 PM.

DK: “So you like Delfino Island? You have something to thank for its creation. Look above you to find your next destination”…?
Diddy: What? Are we going into the clouds?
DK: 0o0 I don’t think so, Did.
Diddy: Huh?
DK: Look!
DK points up at something. The camera slowly swerves to reveal… Mount Corona.
Phil: Teams must now travel a short distance into the jungle, until they find this place, the Corona SkyCraft. It’s a sky lift that will take teams up to almost the top of this, Mount Corona. It’s a dormant volcano, so there’s no chance of an eruption. It is here, one kilometer from the rim, that teams will find their next clue.
DK: Oh my god! We’re goin’ inside a volcano!!!
***DK: I love being on the Race. I love seeing all these exotic locations.
Diddy: Aren’t we gonna be… like… incinerated?
DK: It says here “The volcano is dormant, it has not erupted in the last 20 years.”

Diddy: There’s the clue box right up there.
DK: Got it! *Riiiiiip* Ah! Detour!
Phil (inside the Volcano, sweating): A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons. This Detour faces racers with two Isle Delfino tasks, taking place directly inside the volcano. The choice: Stones… or Subs. Before performing either task, teams must first repel straight down into the mouth of the Volcano. In Stones, one team member must get on a mechanical ascender on one of the walls of the volcano, and pull themselves up until they reach the roof. They must then use a pick to chip away rocks from the wall, letting them fall down to their partner on the ground, who is holding a container. Once the container is full, they will receive their next clue. In Subs, teams get in these small, lava-proof submarines, and dive into the pools of lava, which are actually quite deep. Using a radar system, they must search the pools of lava for one of these balls, and use the mechanical arm to bring it to the surface. Inside will be their next clue. Also, for safety reasons, teams have been given “Flare Mushrooms”, which will render them invincible to lava.

Phil (standing in front of a strong-looking Pianta, still sweating): A Roadblock is a task that only one person may perform… and no person may do more than six on the entire Race. This Roadblock faces teams with a grueling task… Volcano Wrestling. The chosen team member must get on this platform and push their opponent, a professional Pianta wrestler, into the lava. This task will require physical strength, endurance, and maybe even a bit of trickery. Once the Pianta has been pushed off the platform, teams will receive their next clue.
DK: Me! Me! It’s all me! Phew… I was hoping for something easy…
