Let's face it, as entertaining as they are, the Mario cartoons were not high-budget productions. There are - dare I say it - errors! Whether a character is colored incorrectly, someone's voice is simply wrong, or one plotline is entirely inconsistent with another, there are things in these cartoons that are just not right. And some of them, really, are quite odd.
This subsection will include those weird incidents that have been spotted in the Mario cartoons. The Oddities are arranged first by series, and then by episode. Go take a look at what the cartoonists missed!

Super Mario Brothers Super Show
Super Mario Bros. Super Show: Intro
- When Mario first jumps up to break
the bricks by Koopa, his white glove disappears! Spotted by Chocolate

- When Mario is dizzy by Luigi after
rolling over the Koopa Troopas and the title shows, the ground Mario was
sitting on disappears! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- When Koopa forces Toad and Princess
to the edge, in the next shot, we see roots under the edge that weren't
there before! Spotted by

- When everyone is sliding down the
flagpoles, Princess' dress is purple! Spotted by Giga

The Adventures of Sherlock
Mario
- When the heroes are following the
Koopa prints and reach the manhole cover, it is gray with a hole in the
center and it has a Koopa print on it. In the next scene, it's purple,
clean, and has two handles on it. Sent in by Pit.
Bad Rap
- When Koopa
says "What, those plumber punks are headed this way?" the dark green section
of his spiked bracelet is the same color as his skin! Spotted by Chocolate

- When King Koopa is marching with
his troops, his spiked bracelets are gone. Spotted by Luther

- On the first
screen after the title, Mario's overalls are all red. Sent in by DarkGoomba36.
- When King Koopa
ties up Peach and she starts to speak, her nose is gone! Sent in by DarkGoomba36.
The Bird! The Bird!
- When you first hear the phone ring,
there's a purple book on the table. When Birdo goes to answer the phone,
the book is orange. Spotted by Giga

- When Birdo is rocking Toad, you first
see nothing but a coffee thing on the table and nothing in the pen, but
in the next scene, lots of stuff has appeared. Spotted by Giga

- When they're flying and Birdo says
"Mommy knows best, little Cheepy", her mouth keeps moving when Toad starts

- When Birdo is giving Toad milk, Toad
talks while the bottle is still in his mouth. Spotted by Giga

- When Mario says "Cheer up, Luigi,
it could be worse" the "M" on his hat is white. Spotted by Giga

- When Mario powers up, he says "I
love when that happens." Hwever, we can clearly tell from the earlier conversation
that this is the first time Mario has powered up. Spotted by Giga

- On the mountain,
Mario says that the plumber's motto is "When the pipe is plugged, keep
plunging!" But in Brooklyn, he says that it is "Neatness counts"! Spotted

Brooklyn Bound
- When Mario says "Some really great
plumber has been working down here," the old plumber says "Not just really
great, Sunny" before he shows up. If you watch closely, Mario is saying
that line, because his lips are moving word for word, but his voice isn't

- After Koopa
knocks the rock pillar down to make a bridge over the lava, in one scene,
Koopa is standing by the rock pillar, which is drawn as if it weren't knocked
down at all! Spotted by Chocolate

- After the Shy Guy that spied on Mario
and his friends tells Koopa the news that Mario is still alive, watch the
Shy Guy's coat when Koopa orders an attack. It will turn yellow! Spotted

- When the floor splits, Toad is with
Mario. In the next shot, he's with Luigi. Sent in by Pit.
Butch Mario and the Luigi Kid
- When you first see Mouser, his face
is gray! Spotted by Chocolate

- When the Snifits take off running
on the Ostros, their hats turn white when we first saw them as yellow!

- When Mouser says "What are you loonies
up to?" Mario's cowboy hat is completely red! Spotted by Chocolate

- When Mario knocks off Mouser's hat,
look at Toad and you'll see him with his normal Mushroom hat on! Spotted

- When Koopa shoots a fireball, it
goes from the red center at first to the white center in the next shot!

- When Koopa draws the Pirahna Plant,
his pants disappear! Spotted by Chocolate

- When you first see Mouser, his face
is gray. Then when you see it again, it has a shade of orange and peach.

- When Toad picks up a Bob-omb plant,
he throws it straight out in front of him at a fast speed. Yet you see
it land as if he threw it to the right of him at a slow speed. Spotted

- When the sherrif's posse round the
cliff, you only see two mounted Snifits following the carriage, when there's
supposed to be four of them! Spotted by Giga

- When Mario and Luigi are in jail
and Mouser is at the bar, Mouser's entire face is brown! Spotted by Giga

- When Toad blows a hole in the wall
and Mario and Luigi look blown up, there's smoke coming from the wall,
but there's no hole, which we see later. Spotted by Giga
Bowser NS.
- The Mario gang is chased by a greenish
boulder, but when the runy inside the (disguised) prison, it rolls by the
screen... white! Spotted by Giga
Bowser NS.
Count Koopula
- When Toad opens the trap door, Luigi
looks down and says, "Cobwebs? That means s-s-spiders!" But there's no
cobwebs there. Spotted by Bobby.
- Near the end of the torture chamber
scene, when Toad gets stretched, his vest is black! It returns to its normal
color after Toad gets set free due to too much stretching. Spotted by Kirbysonicmario.
- When Toadstool sets the Piranha Plant
down and pets it, it turns a bright shade of red after it smiles instead
of remaining black like the rest of its body! Spotted by Pichu.
Do you, Princess Toadstool, take
this Koopa...
- In the beginning, the walls of the
prison cell have a few darker colored bricks detailing them. Those bricks
disappear when the walls irst moves to flatten the Mario Bros. Spotted
by
Chocolate Thunder.
- When Koopa frees the Mushroomers
and lets them out of his castle, there are only a small group of Mushroomers
running out, including Toad, but in another scene where the Marios try
to find Toad, the whole area is covered by stones that were once the Mushroom
people. Spotted by Anikiki.
- When Mario transforms Toad back to
normal, the wand disintegrates from his hand, despite that there are other
Mushroomers who have not been turned back to normal. Spotted by Anikiki.
- In one of the beginning scenes, the
eyes of the Koopa Troopa turn white! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- In the episode intro, Mario says
Koopa's name wrong. Instead he says Kooper. Sent in by SuperLuigi46.
- When Koopa says "Faucet Face", the
way the mouth is shown, you'd think he was dubbed. Sent in by SuperLuigi46.
- When the walls are activated, at
first you don't see it. But if you look more closely, you can see that
Mario and Luigi are BEHIND the trap wall rather than in front of it. Sent

- At first when the camera is on Koopa,
the wall is just brick. But when Toadstool and Koopa are together. the
background is the same as when the camera's on Toadstool. Sent in by SuperLuigi46.
- Again it really looks like Mario
is BEHIND the trap wall, because the way they're getting squashed its more

- If you look at how they're not going
to live any much longer by the time Toadstool makes the decsion to marry
Koopa, don't you think the Bros. would be dead already? I mean, look at

- When Koopa first laughs, then turns
the trap off, his mouth dosen't move. Sent in by SuperLuigi46.
- The second time the Mario Bros. are
digging their way out of the castle, you'll notice it's the same footage

- When Koopa turns the Mushroom people
back to normal, we only see abput 6 people come out, but when we first
see the "rock dungeon" there are about 20 or more rocks. Sent in by SuperLuigi46.
Elvin Lives
- In the scene where the princess finds
Elvin in the freezer of Koopa's hideout, she spots Elvin and says "He's
been turned to stone" even though he is frozen in ice. The shoes said something
similar in another scene where Mario and Company try to free Elvin. Spotted

- When Luigi is pumping air into the
tire, the white background on his cap changes from white to black multiple
times! Spotted by Chocolate Thunder.
Escape from Koopatraz
- When Mario and Luigi send a brick on the ground
flying, it is blue. But when it hits Luigi's foot, it suddenly turn white,
then back blue. Spotted by Kirbyfancobra.
Flatbush Koopa
- When Mario
passes the burger shop, it reads "Burger Shor"! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- When Mario
says "This could be the worst badness he ever koopatrated," it is coming
out of Luigi's mouth! Spotted by Chocolate

- When the Koopa
Troopas pass Koopa Island, the sign reads "Coopa Island"! Spotted

The Great BMX
Race
- Sometime before
King Koopa calls his men for his plan, watch Koopa's skin. It will turn
from dark green to light green! Spotted by Crystal

- When Mario
and Luigi are stopped by Mouser,Tryclide, and the Koopa Troopa, watch Mouser's
glasses. They'll be gray when the picture zooms out! Spotted by Crystal

- When Triclyde,
Mouser, and Koopa Troopa chase the Mario Bros, watch Triclyde's cheek.
It'll be flashing and moving up and down! Spotted by crystal

- After Koopa,
tells his Koopa Troopas to chase after the Mario Bros, when the Koopas
collide into the wall they'll be wearing gloves they didn't have before!

- When Triclyde, Mouser, and the Koopa
Troopa come close to Princess, her shadow appears in midair! Spotted by

The Great Gladiator
Gig
- When Princess
says "I bet no one tries to sneak in without a ticket," her mouth isn't

- When Koopa
remarks that "Three heads are better than two," his shell briefly disappears!

- When Koopa
captures Princess and Toad, there are some people in the audience. They're
only supposed to be there when Mario and Luigi come in. Spotted by Chocolate

- When Luigi
says "That was some trick, Mario," the chariot goes from brown to white.

- When the Triclyde
is shown with the sword and the screen shifts to Luigi in the net, the
sword is entirely a beige color instead of the normal silvery blue. Spotted

- When Koopa
says "That's what you think," his horns are the same texture and color
of the spikes on his shell. Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- When Mario
speaks after the lion speaks, look close and you'll see that the lions
have switched places! Spotted by Chocolate

The Great Gold Coin Rush
- Luigi's fireball suit disappears
in one scene after Mario actually loses his even though Luigi doesn't.
Then Luigi powers down even though his fireball suit is already off! Spotted

Hooded Robin and his Mario Men
- When the Troopa says "Right! Troopas,
fall out!" his mouth never moves. Spotted by Eddy
The Kid.
- When Toad says "Tthe castle road
shall require a toll in the amount of one wagon full of gold coins," Koopa's
the one saying it in Toad's voice. Spotted by Eddy
The Kid.
Karate Koopa
- When Luigi falls on the barrels,
the trash that falls out is blue, then it turns brown! Spotted by
Chocolate
Thunder.
- When Toad is getting spun around
with the Ninji's rope, the spots on his hat disappear! Spotted by
Chocolate
Thunder.
- While Toadstool is getting spun around
by the rope, she disappears very quickly, twice. Spotted by Luther
Koopa.
- When the camera is moving from left
to right showing all of the Ninji coming out of the walls, Mario had his
original overalls on instead of his karate uniform. Spotted by Luther
Koopa.
- When Mario knocks Karate Koopa over, Koopa's
belly is the usual tan color when it should be blue in this episode. Spotted
by Froggidy.
King Mario of Cramalot
- When Toad says "Phew, that was close,
I didn't think we had a Mushroom's chance in a frying pan!" his mouth isn't
moving before the zoom-in. Spotted by Bobby.
- When Mervin saves the Marios from
being drowned or squashed by the ceiling and they all vanish to the forest,
Toad starts to talk, but his mouth isn't moving. Then when the camera zooms
in, you see his mouth move! Spotted by Marioman989.
- When the Beezo Bandits fly under
Mario and Co, they are wearing red outfits, but when one gets hit by an
apple, they are wearing black outfits. Spotted by Giga

- When Mario makes a hole in the net
they're trapped in, his body is always under the net, even after he hops
out of it. Spotted by Giga Bowser

- When the prison chamber fills with
water, Toad's vest turns red. Normally this would be right, but since Toad
has a different outfit, this is wrong. Spotted by Giga

- At the end, Toad laughs without moving

- When Mario runs off into the distance,
his silhouette is running in the air above the mountain. Spotted by Giga

- Just before Koopa shows up to steal
the golden plunger, we see Luigi drawn wrong, standing on top of a villager.

- When we see Luigi and Toad panicking
about the lowering ceiling, the two lines on Luigi's glove are green when

- When the spikes are lowering in the
dungeon and Princess Toadstool is saying "It looks like we're done for!
If only Mervin were here!" there is no emblem on Mario's cap. Spotted by

- When Koopa
says "I don't know, what?" his shell disappears! Spotted by Chocolate

- While the spiked
ceiling is falling, there is no "M" on Mario's cap and the spots on Toad's
cap keep flickering! When Mervin shows up, there's no "L" on Luigi's cap!

- When Luigi
is revealed behind Princess, there is no "L" on his cap! Spotted

- When Mario
says "I accept," the emblem on his cap disappears again! Spotted

- After Mario
pulls the golden plunger from the (also golden) bathtub, it starts spewing
coins. When it zooms in on Mario, the bathtub is no longer golden. Spotted

The Koopas are Coming! The Koopas
are Coming!
- In the scene where Koopa complains
why it is not morning, watch the scene when the Flurry says, "Uh, it's
only midnight, exalted leader! Have patience!" Note that he has a visible
mouth. Normally, Flurries never have a visible mouth to begin with. Also,
for a midnight scene, the sun is still out. Spotted by Anikiki.
- In the scene where Luigi is chased
by the Beezos while horseback riding, he is wearing Mario's Super Suit.

- In another scene where Mario is unfreezing
the soldiers, he has the powers of the Fire Flower, but he is wearing his
normal clothes. Spotted by Anikiki.
Love 'em and
Leave 'em
- When Toad runs
in the potion room, the spots on his hat are black! Spotted by Chocolate

- When Luigi,
Toad, and Princess spy on the wedding, Luigi is wearing Mario's cap! Spotted

- When Mario
says "Now you're talking!" his mouth isn't moving! Spotted by Chocolate

- When a Beezo
says "It's too late," there is another Beezo on an Ostro whose spear has

Mario Meets Koopzilla
- When Mario eats the Super Sushi (mixed with
pasta), he uses a fork. But in the next shot, as he's eating, the fork
is replaced by a spoon! Spotted by Bobby.

- When Koopa turns huge, we see a close up of
Mario, and we see a close up of a big W on his hat. Spotted by

- In the beginning, just before the
"earthshake" (as Luigi puts it), Luigi is wearing a straw hat. But when
the earthquake strikes, the group goes flying, including Luigi, who now
has his normal green cap on. Spotted by Kittykatstar.

- In one scene, we see Koopa holding
a red-colored radio tower with a white orb at its tip while drinking out
of a water container. When he says "All this bashing and crashing sure
works up an appetite!" he holds up the radio tower to take a bite out of
it. When he holds it up, the white orb disapears and its color changes

- When Mario
and Luigi are riding the electric scooter, the glass disappears sometimes!

- In the scene
where Mario eats super sushi, there is no "M" on his cap and his fork turns
into a spoon! Spotted by Chocolate

- When Toad says “'It isn't an earthquake, it's
Koopazilla!' the camera moves up and Koopzilla's mouth is moving to “It's
Koopzilla!' but in Toad’s voice. Spotted by Froggidy.
Mario's Magic Carpet
-For a split second while Koopa is
flying with Princess, the Princess disappears. You have to watch closely,
it's like one or two frames. Spotted by Giga

- When we first see Koopa flying away
with the princess, he's sitting on the right, like in an English car. For
the rest of the episode, he drives of the left. Spotted by Giga
Bowser NS.
- Koopa orders a dozen Pidgits, but
we only see nine fly in. Spotted by Giga
Bowser NS.
Mighty McMario and the Pot of Gold
- There is a silver pot at the start
with red sauce in it, but when it gets thrown at the Koopa Troopas, the
sauce is white! Spotted by Chocolate

- When Mario and Co. sneak in the back
way during the rain, one of the screenshots shows them sneaking in and
the rain suddenly stopped, then it starts again in the next scene! Spotted

- When Koopa shoots a fireball, it
starts off red in the middle and in one screen it turns white in the middle!

On Her Majesty's Sewer Service
- When the wheel stops on the Tunnel
of Doom, the screen backs up and instead of the pointer on a "T", it's

- When Koopfinger says "Magic Potion,
do your stuff!" he is actually holding a bomb! Spotted by

The Pied Koopa
- When the Albatoss are dropping Bob-ombs,
the first three have red eyes and one has white eyes. Then when they all
fall down, all four have red eyes! Spotted by Chocolate

- At one point
the heroes are jumping down from their shackles high on a dungeon wall.
Princess Toadstool jumps down, then is followed by Toad, but when the shot
cuts to show Mario jump down, Toad is briefly visible back on the wall
before the shot cuts to Mario landing next to Toad and the Princess. Spotted

Plumber's Academy
- When
Mario throws the gold plunger, it turns red in the next shot! Also in the
end of this episode, Mario is holding a red plunger! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- When you see
the manhole cover in the beginning, it is later replaced with white bricks!

- The bag of
Fast Drying Concrete reads "Fast Dpying Concrete"! Spotted by Chocolate

- When you read
the title of this episode, it reads "Plummers Academy"! Spotted

Princess, I Shrunk the Mario Brothers
- When Luigi says "Wait a minute -
you're always saying "In here, quick!", his arms disappear for a second.

Quest for Pizza
- There is a scene when Luigi is talking
but we hear Princess Toadstool's voice in place of Luigi's! Spotted by
Chocolate

- When Toad looks over the picture
of the Mousersaurus, the book spells it "Mouseraurus". Spotted by Anikiki.
- There are a few instances where the
Mousersaurus's face turns marroon like his body. Spotted by Anikiki.
Raiders of the Lost Mushroom
- Right after Koopa escapes, the warp
closes. But then, when Mario says the Lost Mushroom is safe in their grasp,
the warp is suddenly open underneath their feet! Spotted by Bobby.
Robo-Koopa
- After Robo-Koopa beats the Plumbinator and
proceeds to chase Mario, Luigi seems to have been dumped out of the suit.
But if you look at the window where he sat in the Plumbinator, Luigi's
face is still visible there, even though he is outside! Spotted by Bobby.
- When Robo-Koopa zaps Princess Toadstool
and Toad into forcefields and runs after Mario and Luigi,
the forcefields are gone! Spotted by
Kirbysonicmario.
- When Bunsen
tells Robo-Koopa to push a red button, he pushes a yellow button. Spotted
by MammaMia64.
Rolling Down
the River
- When Mario,
Luigi, Toad, and Peach are chased to the front of the ship, watch Toad's
face. His fake mustache will disappear! (This happens many times in the
episode.) Spotted by crystal king.
Star Koopa
- When Mouser says the Birdo Ray will
fire in sixteen minutes, the timer is shown, and we see it counting down
from 4:26. Spotted by Bobby.
- We first see
Koopa's freeze gun as red. The next time we see it, it is entirely gray!
Spotted by Chocolate Thunder.
- All of the
lightplungers are gray. When Koopa pulls his out to fight Mario, Mario's
lightplunger has turned red! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
Stars In Their
Eyes
- When Moon-Man
Koopa turns on the giant magnet at the quark factory, he is no longer wearing
a helmet when it zooms out to show everyone being pulled onto it. Spotted
by MammaMia64.
The Ten Koopmandments
- After Mario and Co escape from the
pyramid, the construction of the Koopinx has been completed. But when they
go to the Koopinx with Koopa's staff, the Koopinx is drawn as if it's still
under construction. Spotted by Bobby.
- In the second screen with the Phanto,
his color scheme is reversed from the first screen! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- When you see the Emergency Exit Push!
button on the wall, it reads "Emergency Ext Push"! Also, the white button
is not there until the close-up! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
The Trojan Koopa
- The Mario Bros. dress the Hammer
Bros. in their costumes. They get them back in the next scene. The plumber
costumes are on two people at once! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
- When Luigi's overalls are used for
the slingshot, Luigi's clothes turn completely green! Spotted by Chocolate
Thunder.
Toad Warrior
- During the truck chase,
the giant Birdo swallows a bag of Bob-ombs. In the next scene, while Mouser
is yelling, we can see the Birdo's tail, which is now green! Spotted by
Woshi.
Two Plumbers and a Baby
- At one point, Luigi has a red hat
and Mario speaks in Luigi's voice... in the same shot. Spotted by Martin.
- When Mario
and the gang crash through the wall and Koopa tries to get away, watch
the part supporting the shell. It'll flash for a few brief seconds! Spotted

The Unzappables
- Princess refers to the coat room
as the hat check room! Spotted by Chocolate

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros.
3: Intro
- Big Mouth's skin is orange, just
like every other Koopaling, when it's supposed to be brown! This appears
in the credits, too. Spotted by Chocolate

3: End Credits
-When Mario and Luigi break the white
block, it stays there, even though the Leaf floats out. In the episode
that this actually takes place, the block breaks. Spotted by Giga

The Beauty of Kootie
- Cheatsy comes down the stairs in the sewers
after Kootie Pie yells for his help. His head changes from green to purple
for a second or two and then changes back. Spotted by Dark

with a blue iris, but in one scene, his eyes are yellow and he has no iris

- When Kootie Pie says, “This is no
job for a beauty queen,” her scales change colors form tan to her normal.

- The Boomerang Bros. change between

- Several times during the cartoon, Cheatsy's
head turns orange. But... isn't it green? From Yoshi

- When Kootie Pie is threatening everyone with
the wand, we see Cheatsy with blue eyelids, and in another scene his eyelids

- When Mario rides the camel faucet,

- When the dungeon is first shown,
there are four chains. Mario, Luigi, and Toadstool are there, leaving one
empty chain. The first screen Wizardheimer uses to go up the stairs, the

- Watch Mario and Luigi's legs in the
dungeon. They're chained when the dungeon is first shown. But after Wizardheimer

Wizardheimer laughs at the top of the stairs, at which point we see them

- You must be quick to catch this one
at first. Watch when Luigi sits by the pipe underground. You'll see that
the "L" on Luigi's cap is white with a black background and quickly changes
back to normal! This also happens when Luigi cries "And it's all my fault!"
except that the cartoonists seemingly decided to let us see this oddity
longer! This happens a third time when Luigi gets up to jump in the warp

- The bag of crops that Cheatsy stole
was gray. When Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi sing and finish the song "The Cheatsy's
Life" the crops they recover are now in a green bag! Not enough? The torches
on Cheatsy's throne aren't lit after "The Cheatsy's Life" like they were

on the tree, the basket is full of them. We see Yoshi eat only one. Then
he spits all the candy canes on the tree and the basket is suddenly empty.

- When Luigi is first shown making
toys, the "L" on his cap is white and the outline is black.
- When King Koopa catches Oogtar after
a Bob-omb explodes in his face, you hear King Koopa's laugh but his mouth

circles on it. When Mario uses it to change the egg back into Luigi, the
wand has four colored circles on it! The fourth color is a light green!

- When the Magikoopa says "You are!"
before swinging his wand, his mouth isn't moving! Spotted by Chocolate

- The Thwomps are colored with blue
spikes and white faces! They weren't like this in The Night Before Cave
Christmas and Send in the Clown! Spotted by Chocolate

- When Mario
says “What do you mean catch the ball, you were the ball”, his waist
splits in half! Spotted by larryfan.
- When Bully
says "Mario? Let's get 'em both!" and turns to Cheatsy, his right cheek
is all white for a split second, then goes back to pink. Spotted by Dark
Blade.
- After Mario
says "What do you mean catch the ball? You were the ball!" and the scene
changes to Luigi, his eyes are looking in opposite directions for a split
second. Spotted by Super Yoshi

is teaching the cavemen how to play, the football is brown, not gray. This
is most noticeable when he says, "Who
wants to start
with the ball first?" Spotted by Midna.
