Love 'Em and Leave 'Em

Submitted by Hip

(The episode opens to a land full of grassy knolls.)

Mario: Plumber's Log, Number 1-0-5-11. Rotunda Land. We were searching for a way to save Princess Toadstool's kingdom. Instead, we found one of the most humungous dangers I've ever faced: the dreaded Queen Rotunda.

(The scene shifts to a room inside a castle with padded walls, floors, and ceilings. Queen Rotunda, a very big queen, picks up a framed photo of a skinny man in tights. With her is Hildy, an ugly, hooded woman.)

Hildy: Take it from me, Queen Rotunda! This is the best love potion I ever mixed!

Rotunda: Can you guarantee it will make Prince Pompadour fall madly in love with me?

(Hildy is at a table mixing a potion.)

Hildy: One sip of my passion potion, your highness-

(Hildy pours some liquid from a vial into a cauldron and smoke flies out.)

Hildy: -and he'd fall in love with a tree stump! We only have to be sure you are the first person he sees after he drinks this glop!

(Hildy uses a ladle to remove some of the pink potion from the cauldron, and pours it into a pink heart-shaped bottle with a red heart label on it. Cut to outside, where Mario and Co are standing on a knoll. Suddenly, a ticking sound is heard.)

Luigi: What's that beep?

(Luigi starts to run around.)

Mario: It's my red-hot pepper detector! And it's going off scale!

(Mario pulls out a machine that resembles a chili pepper, only with handles, wires, and a gauge of some sort. Mario holds the detector in front of him and runs off, with the others following him.)

Mario: Hot peppers, ahoy!

(Later, Mario and Co are in a crop of large peppers. Mario, Princess, and Toad are plucking peppers from the ground, while Luigi is holding two of them and having trouble keeping his balance.)

Luigi: H-help! Mario! I'm fallin' over!

(A lance hits the ground next to Luigi, and he rests on it.)

Luigi: *whew* Thanks a lot!

(Three Beezos that are dressed as knights, one of whom is on an Ostro that's wearing a drape like a medieval horse, run up to them. Only Luigi sees them, since the others have their backs turned.)

Luigi: Holy ravioli! Hey, M-m-m-mario! Tell me one more time! How a plumber knows he's in trouble!

(The two Beezos that aren't on the Ostro surround Luigi. Mario, Princess, and Toad turn around.)

Mario: When he gets that *gulp* sinking feeling!

Beezo: Attention peasants! Those are Queen Rotunda's royal red-hot peppers you're robbing!

Princess: But h-how could we rob them? They're growing wild!

Beezo: The queen owns everything in Rotunda! Therefore, you are thieves!

Toad: Well, we'll give the peppers back!

(The four of them drop the peppers.)

Princess: Yes, take them.

Beezo: It's too late! Queen Rotunda has been looking for someone to throw into her dungeon!

Luigi: Her dungeon?

Beezo: For the rest of your life, at least!

Luigi: Let's get outta here!

Mario: I'm with you, Luigi!

(Mario pulls a pepper from the ground and it goes flying, knocking the Beezo off of the Ostro.)

Mario: Nighty-night, knight!

(Mario and Co run off towards a hedge maze, with four Beezos in pursuit. The Marios go through one route in the maze, while Princess and Toad take the other. The Beezos just fly above the maze and easily find the two groups. After some running around, the Marios run into two Beezos at an intersection, and run off. The same thing happens to Princess and Toad at another intersection. The Marios come out of one exit, while Princess and Toad come out another, and they crash into each other.)

Mario: Mamamia!

Toad: At least we ditched those bumblin' Beezo knights! Woah!

(The Beezos hold up Mario and Co with their lances.)

Beezo: As I said, you're under arrest! And you must appear before Queen Rotunda!

Mario: We get your point!

(Cut to the castle, where Rotunda is applying makeup.)

Rotunda: Thanks to your love potion, Hildy, I'll be the most beautiful bride Rotunda Land has ever seen!

(One of the Beezos enters the room.)

Beezo: We are holding prisoners in the throne room, your immense rotundedness!

Rotunda: Prisoners? Oh, goody! What did they do?

(Rotunda eats a piece of candy.)

Beezo: They were caught robbing the royal hot peppers!

Rotunda: What? They were stealing food? From me? There is no greater crime!

Hildy: Here, Rotunda! Take this love dunk with ya in case you bump into that heartthrob, Prince Pompadour!

(Rotunda takes the bottle.)

Rotunda: Thanks, Hildy! Now, let's see what these miserable grub-grabbing prisoners look like!

(As Rotunda turns around, she hits the Beezo with her butt, knocking him over. Cut to the throne room, where Mario and Co are waiting. A chef wheels up a tea tray full of cakes and other pastries.)

Luigi: Do you think that's our *gulp* last meal?

(Rotunda enters.)

Rotunda: Silly goon! You don't get a last meal!

(Rotunda sticks her finger into the cake and samples it.)

Rotunda: Yuck! What kind of royal chef are you?

(Rotunda shoves the cart into the chef, knocking him aside.)

Rotunda: I'll never find the perfect dessert for my wedding to Prince Pompadour!

Beezo: Don't forget the prisoners, your hugeness!

Rotunda: Oh yes, them! Off with their heads!

(Mario and Co gasp. Mario then takes his hat off and walks up to Rotunda, who is now on her throne.)

Mario: Excuse me, Queen Rotunda!

Rotunda: Why does this man still have his head?

(Two Beezos grab Mario and start to drag him away.)

Mario: Wait! Because inside this head is the answer to your problem!

(Mario runs up to Rotunda, with the Beezos still holding him.)

Rotunda: Get to the point, jelly belly!

Mario: Hot pepper pistachio ice cream!

Rotunda: Hot pepper pistachio ice cream? I never heard of it!

Mario: It's the perfect new dessert! Just what you're looking for! My personal favorite!

(The Beezos drag Mario away.)

Rotunda: I command you to make some at once! Then, off with your head!

(Later, Mario presents Rotunda with a bowl of ice cream.)

Rotunda: Hmm. At least your hot pepper ice cream looks yummy! I'll just take an itty-bitty taste!

(Rotunda takes a bite of the ice cream, and steam flies out her ears and mouth. She then hops around the room like mad.)

Rotunda: WATER! WATER! WATER! WATER!

(Rotunda sits down on her throne and Mario runs up to her.)

Mario:  Quick, drink this!

(Mario grabs the potion off of the throne and pours it down Rotunda's throat.)

Rotunda: Whew!

(Rotunda looks at Mario and hearts light up in her eyes.)

Mario: So, you like Mario's hot pepper pistachio ice cream, eh?

(Mario tosses the bottle aside.)

Rotunda: Who cares about ice cream? It's you I love, dreamboat!

(Rotunda picks Mario and tries to kiss him.)

Mario: Woah! Watch it, lady! You're reaping my moustache!

(Princess picks up the bottle.)

Princess: That wasn't water! It was a love potion!

(Mario gets out of Rotunda's grasp and runs off.)

Rotunda: Potion, shmotion! Come to me, my sweet! I love you!

(The song "The Power of Love" starts up. Rotunda chases after Mario.)

Mario: If ya love me, set me and my friends free!

Rotunda: Never! Knights! Lock these three in the dungeon! The chubby prince charming is going to be my husband!

(The Beezos lower their lances in front of Luigi, Princess, and Toad. Mario goes through a door and hides behind it as Rotunda comes through. Mario sneaks off in the other direction, but Rotunda sees him and pulls the rug out from underneath him.)

Rotunda: Come to me, my sweet pea! I hear wedding bells in my tower!

Mario: Those ain't wedding bells in your tower! They're bats in your belfry, lady!

(Rotunda wraps up Mario in the rug.)

Rotunda: Let's wrap this thing up, honey bunch! It's time you and I got married!

(The song ends. Rotunda hugs Mario.)

Mario: HELP! My life is over! I'm a prisoner of love!

(Later, Rotunda is sealing envelopes with hearts on them.)

Rotunda: These were the most tasteful wedding invitations I could find!

(Rotunda licks an envelope.)

Rotunda: Mmm! Whipped cream flavor!

(Rotunda licks another envelope.)

Rotunda: Mango passion fruit!

(Rotunda licks another envelope.)

Rotunda: Yuck! Spinach! How did that get in here?

(Rotunda throws the invitation onto the floor next to Mario, who's pedaling on an exercise machine.)

Mario: I'll lick it!

Rotunda: Uh uh uh, my gorgeous gumdrop! Remember your diet! You have to look slim and trim for our wedding!

(Cut to Luigi, Princess, and Toad, who are in a cell in the castle's rather regal dungeon.)

Luigi: We're sure in deep spaghetti!

Toad: Don't give up, Luigi! It ain't over 'til the fat lady gets her weddin' ring!

Princess: And we're gonna make sure that doesn't happen! We're bustin' outta here! Guard! Guard! My friends have escaped!

(A Beezo enters the dungeon, runs up to the cell, and can't see Luigi or Toad.)

Beezo: Dear me! Where did they go?

(The Beezo unlocks the door and enters the cell.)

Princess: Now!

(Luigi and Toad, who were hiding on the chandelier, jump down and cover the Beezo with a sheet. Toad picks up the Beezo's large keyring and shoves it around the Beezo.)

Toad: We really got the drop on that Beezo boob!

Princess: Hurry! We have to save Mario before he gets smothered with affection!

(Princess runs out of the cell, followed by Luigi and Toad. Cut to the kitchen, where Rotunda is holding Mario.)

Rotunda: I just love you so much it hurts!

(Rotunda kisses and hugs Mario.)

Mario: It's hurting me a lot more than it's hurting you!

Rotunda: Let's have a little of your hot pepper pistachio ice cream while we plan our future together!

(Rotunda has a bite of the ice cream.)

Mario: Now you're talking!

(Mario sticks his finger in the ice cream, but Rotunda grabs his arm.)

Rotunda: Not you, my little dumpling!

(Rotunda licks the ice cream off of Mario's finger.)

Rotunda: You're still on a diet!

(Rotunda drinks a glass of water.)

Mario: Please! Just a little!

Rotunda: Well, just a bit, because I love you so much!

(A Beezo enters, and Rotunda holds the bowl away from Mario.)

Beezo: Your roundness! The prisoners have escaped!

Rotunda: What? How could you be so stupid?

(Rotunda throws the bowl at the Beezo, knocking him into the wall.)

Mario: No!

Rotunda: Find the thieves! If they interfere with my wedding, I'll have your head!

Beezo: Yes, your royal giganticness!

Mario: Nobody's gonna boil my brother in oil! I'm gettin' outta here!

(Another Beezo flies in through the window, holding a sword.)

Mario: Whoops! Put your pas-sticker away! That's a good knight!

(Rotunda picks up Mario.)

Rotunda: It will be good night for you if you don't come give me a big hug and kiss, baby cakes!

(Rotunda tries to kiss Mario.)

Mario: Luigi! Toad! Princess! You-you gotta save me!

(Luigi, Princess, and Toad are in the hall at the top of the stairs.)

Toad: What is it? What's goin' on?

(Several Beezos walk out through some doors.)

Beezo: Find the prisoners! We've only got two hours until the wedding starts!

Luigi: Oh, poor Mario! We gotta save him!

Princess: Come on, I have a great idea!

(Princess leads Luigi and Toad to the room where Hildy was making potions.)

Toad: What's the plan?

Princess: We've gotta get the queen to fall in love with someone else!

Toad: So we're gonna mix up another love potion for the queen?

Princess: You got it!

Luigi: Yo, let's get cookin'!

(Luigi opens up a book. Cut to the atrium, where decorations for the wedding have been set up and
lots of people have gathered. Mario and Rotunda are dressed up as a groom and bride. Rotunda picks up Mario.)

Rotunda: This is the happiest day of my life! And it's the happiest day in your life too!

(Cut to Luigi, Princess, and Toad. Luigi is stirring the contents of the cauldron.)

Princess: Add one spring mistletoe, one ripe artichoke heart, and one Fat Boys record!

(Toad throws the ingredients into the cauldron, and it blows up.)

Luigi: Maybe it had to be a CD! Come on, keep cookin'!

(Cut to the atrium.)

Rotunda: Here, here! Let the wedding begin!

(Rotunda grabs Mario's hand.)

Mario: Oh no!

(Luigi looks out the window.)

Luigi: Come on! Mario's weddin' is startin'!

(Toad throws something into the cauldron. Everyone covers their ears, but nothing happens.)

Toad: I think we finally mixed a love potion!

(Luigi fills a flask with the potion.)

Luigi: Let's play Cupid!

(Cut to the atrium. Rotunda is practically pulling Mario down the aisle. Luigi, Princess, and Toad stick their heads around from behind a corner atop a staircase. They then sidle down the stairs. Mario and Rotunda have now reached the Shy Guy minister and a Beezo ring bearer. Mario lets out a "whew", looks up, and sees his friends making their way down the stairs.)

Mario: Wait! Stop! My shoe's untied!

(Mario bends down and pretends to tie his shoe. He looks up at Luigi, who waves back and pours the potion into two goblets.)

Mario: (in his mind) Good thinking, Luigi! (out loud) I must propose a toast!

(The crowd cheers. Mario runs over to the goblets and brings them back to Rotunda and Prince Pompadour.)

Mario: To Queen Rotunda! And her big, big, big, big heart! And to Prince Pompadour, her old, old, old friend!

Rotunda: To me!

(Rotunda and Pompadour give cheers, drink the potion, look at each other, and their eyes light up.)

Pompadour: Rotunda! You're the most beautiful creature in the kingdom! Marry me!

Rotunda: Of course, Prince Pompadour! Of course!

(Rotunda and Pompadour hug each other. Mario then gives a thumbs up to his friends.)

Mario: Pastarific, my paisanos!

(Luigi laughs. The step he was standing on cracks, and he starts to lose his balance. Princess grabs him, but he drops the flask, which lands in the punchbowl.)

Hildy: I think I'll drink a toast to Rotunda for not marrying that silly little plumber!

Luigi: Woah! No! Don't drink that!

(Hildy drinks the potion, looks at Luigi, and her eyes light up.)

Luigi: Oh no!

Hildy: Oh, you hunky love muffin, you! I've been looking for you all my life!

Toad: Come on! Let's make tracks!

(Mario grabs Luigi and runs down the stairs and out of the castle with Princess and Toad, with Hildy in pursuit. They keep running until they're beyond the horizon.)
