Mighty McMario and the Pot of Gold

Submitted by Hip

(The episode opens to an Ireland-like countryside.)

Mario: (in his mind) Plumber's Log, Number 7-11. King Koopa had taken over the Shamrock Kingdom, and stolen the little people's pot of gold coins, and all their good luck with it.

(Mario and Co are walking down a path with a leprechaun named Murphy.)

Murphy: These days, if it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all! Me pot o' gold coins made Shamrock the luckiest of lands!! But now we've the curse of O'Koopa!

(The five of them stop next to a wagon full of hay.)

Toad: Hey, don't worry, Murphy! We'll clobber that cantankerous creep, Koopa!

Luigi: We will?

(Mouser, who's wearing a black-hooded tunic, is lying on top of the hay, out of sight from the others, and listening to every word they're saying.)

Mario: Sure we will! But after lunch! It's mealtime!

(Mario and Co and Murphy walk off.)

Mouser: It'll be your last meal once I tell King O'Koopa!

(The scene shifts to an establishing shot of Koopa's castle in Shamrock Land, which is located on a cliff top over a lake. Inside the throne room, Koopa, who's wearing a red cape with holes for his shell spikes, a
shamrock-shaped stud, and a belt, is sitting on the throne. Behind the throne is a large statue of Koopa.)

Koopa: What? Those pasta-pilfering plumbers are here?

Mouser: Right here in Shamrock Land, oh carnivorous King of Cunning!

Koopa: Then let's throw a Kooper duper welcoming party for 'em! *laugh*

(The scene shifts to a building surrounded by large bushes that resemble shamrocks. Hanging in front of the door is a shamrock-shaped sign that reads "Shamrock Inn". Inside, Mario and Co and Murphy are at a table.)

Murphy: Here, Mario! Corn beef and cabbage cannelloni!

(Murphy serves Mario a plate of cannelloni from a cauldron.)

Mario: I'm in pasta heaven!

(As Mario readies to stick his fork into the cannelloni, the bench he's sitting on breaks in half, causing him to fall over.)

Mario: Hey! Ouch!

(Mario gets up.)

Mario: I hope the food's better than the furniture!

(Mario sticks his fork into the cannelloni, but it goes flying across the room and lands on a windowsill.)

Toad: Now that's what I call real fast food!

Mario: No flaky feast is gonna get the best of me!

(Mario walks over to the window, but he steps on some sauce that landed on the floor, causing him to lose his balance and slide around out of control.)

Mario: Mamamia!

(Mario crashes into the door.)

Murphy: Stop! Stop! It's me that's causin' all the bad to happen! I'm a jinx!

(Mario reaches for the cannelloni on the windowsill, but it flies out of his hands and out the window when he grabs it. It lands on the head of Koopa, who's arrived with Mouser and lots of Troopas who are dressed like Vikings, but with shamrock-shaped belt buckles.)

Koopa: Looking for this, you lame-brained linguini lover?

(Mario shuts the window.)

Mouser: Don't just stand there, you midget-minded minions! Attack!

(Troopas start trying to open the front door, which Mario is trying to keep shut. The Troopas manage to open the door, and flatten Mario against the wall.)

Luigi: Lunch is served!

(Luigi and Toad tip over another cauldron, and mashed potatoes land on the Troopas, causing them to fall over. More Troopas enter through a window, but the first group of Troopas crashes into them.)

Toad: And guess what, guys? Lunch is on you!

(Another Troopa enters through the window behind Mario.)

Murphy: Watch out, Mario!

(Mario runs off before the Troopa can attack him, and leaps up to the chandelier.)

Mario: This will get the party swingin'!

(Mario swings down from the chandelier and kicks a Troopa, who falls back and knocks over the Troopas behind him in a domino-like fashion.)

Murphy: Let me help!

(Murphy grabs Mario's leg, which causes the chandelier to break off from the ceiling, and the two of them fly into a cauldron. On top of that, a table leg breaks, which tilts the table, causing the cauldron to slide down and crash into Luigi, Princess, and Toad.)

Toad: Hey guys, maybe we oughtta get outta here!

(More Troopas charge at Mario and Co and Murphy.)

Luigi: I think he's right! Let's retreat! Regroup! Rerun!

(Mario and Co and Murphy jump out of a window.)

Koopa: Don't let those running runts get away!

(The Troopas break down the door, run outside, and past a tree. In a closer shot of the tree, Mario and Co can be seen hiding on a branch.)

Toad: That was close!

Mario: I've never, never, ever had such bad luck!

(The camera scrolls up a bit and shows Murphy on a branch above the others.)

Murphy: It's all my fault! I told ya! Without me pot o' gold coins, I'm a jinx!

(Murphy jumps down to the branch that Mario and Co are on. It suddenly breaks off from the rest of the tree and everyone falls down.)

Mario: Mamamia!

Murphy: See? I'm a disaster! It's the Koopa curse! And you're me last hope!

(Thunder is heard.)

Murphy: Oh no!

(Clouds form in the sky and a rainstorm starts, complete with lightning bolts.)

Princess: It's only a rainstorm, Murphy! When it stops, there'll be a beautiful rainbow!

Murphy: There'll be no rainbow, Princess, because the rain won't stop! *sob* Thanks to me bad luck, all of Shamrock Land'll be underwater! *cries*

Princess: Don't cry! We'll get back your pot of gold coins!

Luigi: We will?

(The scene shifts to an area near Koopa's castle. Mario and Co and Murphy are standing by a mound that is surrounded by a few bushes.)

Murphy: It's the dungeon of Castle O'Koopa, where Koopa keeps me pot o' gold coins!

(Murphy pushes a bush aside, revealing a hole in the mound.)

Murphy: Come on! Let's slip in the back way!

(Murphy almost enters the hole, but Mario grabs him.)

Mario: Now Murphy, you should stay here and-

Murphy: I knew it! You don't want me around!

Princess: But someone has to stay and guard the secret passage!

Mario: And, you're just the mini man for the job!

(Murphy grins, while Mario and Co enter the hole. Toad looks back at Murphy.)

Toad: And I feel safer where you're not!

(The scene shifts to the dungeon of the castle, where several Beezos, who are wearing Viking helmets, are on patrol. In the center of the room is an open cage. In the cage is Murphy's pot of gold, which is on a podium that has a large bell hooked up to it. Mario and Co poke their heads out from behind a pillar on one side of the room as the Beezos fly off in the other direction, so Mario and Co walk over to the podium.)

Mario: If we move the gold, it'll ring that bell!

Luigi: And the bell'll beckon the Beezos! Well, that shoots that plan!

(Luigi tries to walk off, but Mario grabs him.)

Mario: Sorry, Luigi! I've got another plan!

(Later, Luigi has bent down on his arms and legs, and has Princess standing on his back. Toad, who is on Princess' shoulders, reaches for the bell's clapper. He eventually grabs the clapper and holds it in place so that the bell can't ring.)

Toad: Got it! This'll baffle the bell!

(Mario grabs the pot, only to trip on a clump of dirt, which is what the floor is made of, and the coins spill out. Princess and Toad gasp.)

Mario: Oh no!

(Mario hurriedly grabs the coins and puts them back in the pot. Cut to the secret entrance outside, where Murphy is pacing back and forth.)

Murphy: Now what could be taking so long? They must be in trouble! Murphy to the rescue!

(Murphy runs into the hole. Cut to the dungeon, where Mario picks up the last coin and places it in the
pot as Toad sighs. Mario then picks up the pot.)

Murphy (off screen): Great work, lad!

(Mario accidentally drops and spills the pot again upon hearing Murphy, who is now at the entrance to the room. Mario reaches for a coin, but it rolls away from him. Mario then tries to run away from Murphy. Luigi, Princess, and Toad are still in position, holding the bell, until Mario crashes into them, knocking them over. As a result, the bell rings, and Murphy is now in the cage with Mario and Co.)

Toad: Well, if it isn't Murphy the menace!

Princess: Come on, we've gotta get outta here!

(Koopa, who's shown up with the Beezos, shuts the door to the cage.)

Koopa: Too late, Princess! I hope ya like your little room! Because you're gonna be in it, forever! *laugh*

(Cut to the throne room. Koopa places a shackle around Princess' leg, and attaches the other end to a hook on the statue behind the throne.)

Princess: You'll never win, you repulsive reptile! Mario will find a way to defeat you!

Koopa: Forget it! Your pea-brained paisano isn't gonna find a way to do anything except sit in my dungeon, forever!

(Cut to the dungeon, where the Marios, Toad, and Murphy are inside a cell.)

Mario: I wonder when we get dinner.

Toad: You mean IF we get dinner.

Mario: Hey guards, what time we gonna eat?

Murphy: They didn't hear ya, lad! With my curse of bad luck, they probably never will!

(Mario grabs the stool that Luigi is sitting on, causing Luigi to fall over.)

Mario: Well, they're gonna hear this!

(Mario jumps up and smashes the ceiling with the stool, causing it to start crumbling.)

Toad: He's bringin' down the house!

Luigi: And givin' me a headache!

(Luigi and Toad gasp as two Troopas run into the dungeon and enter the cell. The Marios, Toad, and Murphy wait around, pretending that nothing happened. One of the Troopas grabs Murphy.)

Troopa: Hey, leprechaun! What's shakin' in Shamrock?

(Mario smashes the ceiling with the stool again, and some bricks land on top of the Troopas. Mario leaps into the air again.)

Mario: We did it! And now we got a princess to rescue!

Murphy: And, get me lucky gold coins back!

(Murphy looks out the window and sees that a nearby dam is overflowing with water.)

Murphy: We've got to stop this bad luck rainstorm before the village is flooded!

(Cut to the throne room.)

Koopa: Mario has escaped, and that sneaky sink scrubber knows where the gold is! I'd better hide it somewheres else!

(Koopa gets up and begins to walk off.)

Koopa: Mouser, if anything happens to the princess, I'll turn you into Swiss cheese!

(Mouser salutes Koopa.)

Mouser: Understood, oh exalted emperor of evil! Those bad luck plumbers will never get by me!

(Koopa walks off.)

Toad (offscreen): Wanna bet, stoopa Koopa?

(Mouser and the two Troopas turn their heads, where they see Luigi and Toad taunting them.)

Toad: Hey, Mouser! Wanna race?

(Luigi and Toad run down a hallway, and are followed by Mouser and the Troopas. Mario and Murphy come out of a door.)

Murphy: It worked!

Mario: That Mouser's fast on his feet, but slow in the head! Now you stay here, Murphy, while I rescue the princess!

(Mario enters the throne room and runs up to Princess, who is still chained to the throne.)

Princess: Hurry, Mario!

Mario: I got just the thing to cut these chains!

(Mario pulls out what looks like a blue Swiss army knife. On the knife is a button with a red M like the one on Mario's hat.)

Mario: The all-purpose portable plumber's helper! There, the hacksaw!

(Mario pushes the button and a hacksaw extends out of the knife. He pushes it two more times and a blade extends out, as well as a wrench.)

Mario: Wrench!

(Mario retracts the blade and the wrench and extends the hacksaw out all the way. He then uses the hacksaw to start cutting away at the chain.)

Mario: This is one tough chain! Let's hope Luigi can keep O'Koopa's Troopas busy!

(Cut to a hallway, where Luigi and Toad are running from Mouser and the Troopas. The song "Do You Believe in Magic" starts up. Luigi and Toad stop to taunt Mouser and the Troopas for a moment, and run off. They reach a hallway with several doors and enter one of the doors on the right. Mouser and the Troopas reach the hallway and look around, trying to figure out where Luigi and Toad went. Luigi and Toad open a door on the left and Luigi whistles. Mouser and the Troopas enter the door, but Luigi and Toad run out through another door on the left side and enter one on the right, with Mouser and the Troopas following them. Luigi and Toad run out of another door on the right and enter a door on the left, still being chased. They pass through a door on the right, come out of another door, and re-enter another door on the left. This time, Mouser and the Troopas run out of a door being chased by Luigi and Toad, and enter one of the doors on the right. They run out through another door and enter one of the doors on the left. Luigi and Toad are now the ones being chased again, and run out of one of the doors on the left, and enter a door on the right. Luigi opens one of the doors and sees Mouser and the Troopas sitting in the hallway, exhausted from running.)

Mouser: *panting* This is soooo frustrating!

(Luigi and Toad come out of the door and taunt Mouser and the Troopas again. Mouser and the Troopas get up and chase after Luigi and Toad.)

Toad: Are we goin' too fast for ya?

(Luigi and Toad run around a corner. The song ends. They then crash into a door that's been opened by Koopa, who's holding Murphy.)

Koopa: Not now, fungus!

(The Troopas surround Luigi and Toad and hold their swords out.)

Luigi: Uh oh, the jig's up!

(Cut to the throne room, where Mario finishes cutting through the chain.)

Princess: You did it, Mario!

Mario: Now let's get the gold coins, before O'Koopa comes back!

Koopa (offscreen): Too late! His gorgeous self is here!

(Koopa, Luigi, Toad, Murphy, Mouser, and the Troopas are now in the throne room. The Troopas are still holding out their swords, forcing Luigi, Toad, and Murphy to hold up their hands.)

Murphy: Bad luck again!

Toad: Yeah! And it's all your fault!

Koopa: You'll have plenty of time to divide up the blame! *snicker* Like the rest of your lives! What a lucky day for me!

Mario: It's not gonna be lucky for long, you repulsive reptile! Look out the window!

(Koopa opens a curtain and sees the dam, which is still overflowing.)

Mario: Unless you give Murphy back his gold, all the kingdom is gonna be flooded!

Koopa: Big deal! Look down there!

(Koopa points down to a boat in the water.)

Koopa: I'll just load the gold into my royal yacht and sail away!

(Koopa walks back to the others.)

Koopa: You see, I thought of everything!

Murphy: I lost, lads! All is lost! There's just no fighting me bad luck!

Mario: Fighting your bad luck? That's what we've been doing wrong! Murphy, the way to beat O'Koopa isn't by being his enemy; it's by being his very best friend!

Murphy: Me old pal, O'Koopa! Me closest buddy!

(Murphy hugs Koopa's leg.)

Koopa: Let go of me! You leprechaun leech!

(Koopa screams as he tries to shake Murphy off of his leg. He backs up into a wall, and a mace that's on top of a shield that's mounted on the wall falls on Koopa's head.)

Koopa: Ouch!

(Koopa kicks Murphy off of his leg and crashes into his throne. The statue of himself then crumbles and falls of top of him. Murphy runs over to Mouser and the Troopas, who run off. Koopa shoots a fireball from his
shamrock-shaped scepter at Murphy, but it misses and bounces around the room. It then flies into a room with a door that reads "POWDER MAGAZINE DANGER". Koopa shouts and enters the room, which is full of various explosives. The fireball hits the fuse on a bundle of dynamite and starts burning away. Koopa licks his finger, uses it to put out the fuse, and sighs. However, the fuse starts up again and the dynamite explodes, sending the whole castle flying into the air. The castle then lands in the water, right on top of Koopa's boat. Everyone is still where the castle used to be, only now Koopa is covered in char. Mario and Co and Murphy emerge from a pile of debris.)

Murphy: ME PAL!

Koopa: Keep away from me! You and your bad luck!

Mario: As long as you stay in Shamrock, Koopa, Murphy will be your best pal!

(Murphy walks over to Koopa, who backs off.)

Koopa: It's not worth it! Keep the gold coins! Keep the kingdom! Just get that jinx-

(Koopa backs up too far and falls off the cliff.)

Koopa: -away from meeeeeeeee!

(Koopa lands in the water. Murphy then walks up to his pot of gold coins.)

Murphy: Me gold coins!

(Suddenly, the rain stops, the clouds disappear, and a rainbow appears in the sky.)

Princess: Murphy, it's a rainbow!

Murphy: Aye! With me gold coins returned, the Shamrock Kingdom is safe, and-and I'm no longer a jinx!

(Murphy gives Mario a hug, but Mario cautiously backs off.)

Mario: *whew* It's true! Nothing bad happened to me!

(The floor underneath Mario breaks, and he falls through.)

Mario: YOW!

(The others look down though the hole, and see Mario at a table, eating away at a plate of pasta.)

Mario: Luckily I landed on lunch!
