(The Curtain Rises on Dark Land and the title is shown.)

(One seemingly normal day in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and co. are at Toad’s house.)

Princess: Don’t worry, we’ll only be gone for a short time.

Toad: Yeah, we should be back before dinner.

Mario: We’ll be okay, you have a meeting to attend. It’ll be more important than our barbeque lunch!

Princess: I just wish this meeting with the Mushroom Council wasn’t last minute.

Luigi: Hey, we’ll just have a barbeque dinner instead.

Princess: Great! C’mon, Toad, let’s get going.

(Princess and Toad leave.)

(Cut to Castle Koopa. Koopa is on his throne, taking a nap. Kooky suddenly runs in holding something.)

Kooky: KING DAD! KING DAD!

Koopa: WHA? HUH?

(Koopa rubs his eyes and sees Kooky running up to him.)

Koopa: Kooky, you disturbed me during my nap! This better be important!

Kooky: Oh but it is important!

(Kooky reaches the stairs in front of the throne. He holds a pocket watch up to Koopa.)

Koopa: Yeah, so it’s a watch! Even I know that!

Kooky: But hold my hand, and see what happens when-

(Kootie Pie runs in.)

Kootie Pie: King Dad! There’s this new dress I really want you to buy me and I WANT IT NOW!

Koopa: Not now Kootie Pie! I’m talking to Kooky!

Kootie Pie: But King Dad! I WANT THE DRESS! I WANT IT! I WANT IT! I WANT IT!

(Kootie Pie throws one of her tantrums. She gets down on her stomach, bangs the floor with her fists, and begins to cry.)

Kooky: As I was saying, hold my hand, and watch what happens when I press this button!

(Kooky grabs Koopa and presses the button, which creates a brief flash.)

Koopa: What’s the flash gonna do?

Kooky: Notice anything?

Koopa: Yeah! This is such a great invention! It made Kootie Pie shut up!

Kooky: No, take a good look at Kootie Pie!

(Koopa glances at Kootie Pie. She is completely still yet still in her tantrum throwing position.)

Kooky: It’s my latest invention, the Frame Freezer! It freezes time for everything except the users! Whoa whoa whoa!

Koopa: Mwa ha ha ha ha!

Kooky: And we can use it to take over the Mushroom Kingdom!

Koopa: I was gonna say that!

(Koopa and Kooky come out of a warp pipe near Toad’s house.)

Kooky: Now that time’s frozen, we can just waltz in and force Princess Toadstool to hand over her kingdom!

(They walk inside and see Mario and Luigi staring at the TV. Even the TV picture is still.)

Koopa: Hey, where’s the Princess and Toad?

Koopa: We’ll worry about them later. Don’t just sit there, grab Luigi! I’ll take Mario.

(They pick them up. Cut to the dungeon in Castle Koopa. Mario and Luigi are thrown in like lifeless statues and they lock the door. They then return to the throne room, where Kootie Pie is still in the middle of her tantrum.)

Koopa: Well, we got the Mario Bros., but we need the princess to give us the Kingdom! And who knows where she is?

Kooky: We’ll have to restart time in order to ask the Mario Bros. where she is!

Koopa: Good idea, but let’s leave this Time Chiller thing here so the Mario Bros. don’t suspect anything.

Kooky: That’s Frame Freezer!

Koopa: Whatever!

(Kooky presses the button. A flash appears and Kootie Pie continues her tantrum.)

Kootie Pie: WAH! IT’S NOT FAIR! WAH!

Koopa: Here Kootie Pie, here’s some coins!

(Koopa hands her a sack of coins.)

Koopa: Go buy that dress!

Kootie Pie: Really? Wow! Thanks! And it didn’t take long for you to say yes!

Koopa: Actually, that felt like a very long- uh, never mind!

(Kootie Pie leaves.)

Kooky: Wow, how come you were so generous?

Koopa: I had to get rid of her, especially since I don’t want anyone else to know about the Frame Freezer! In the wrong, or should I say, right hands, this could be troublesome for me!

Kooky: We don’t want anyone taking advantage of time!

(Cheatsy, Hip, and Hop walk past the throne room and peek inside.)

Cheatsy: Do you hear what I hear?

Hip: Yeah, they’ve got a device-

Hop: That can freeze time!

Cheatsy: And we’re gonna have some fun with it!

(The three of them snicker.)

Koopa: What was that?

Kooky: Who cares, let’s just get to the Mario Bros. before they escape!

(Kooky places the Frame Freezer on a table and he and Koopa leave. Cheatsy, Hip, and Hop run in. Cheatsy picks up the Frame Freezer.)

Hop: Press the button!

Hip: Let the fun begin!

(Cheatsy presses the button and creates a flash.)

Hop: Did it work?

Cheatsy: I don’t know, it should’ve!

(They leave and walk down the hall. They see Koopa and Kooky in the middle of walking.)

Hip: Alright, it really does work!

Cheatsy: C’mon, I’ve got an idea! To the doomship!

(Cheatsy, Hip, and Hop walk into the doomship cockpit. Hop pulls a lever.)

Hop: Why didn’t it work?

Hip: We’re gonna have to restart time to use the doomship!

(Cheatsy presses the button, which creates the flash. The doomship’s engine starts up and they fly off.)

Hop: So where are-

Hip: We going?

Cheatsy: Hmm, we don’t have much time before Dad gets back, but we should do something he’d like us to do in case we’re late!

(The doomship flies through a warp pipe and comes out in the Mushroom  Kingdom. It flies over to the Princess’ castle.)

Hip: Alright, now let’s-

Hop: Koopnap the Princess!

(The step onto the Koopaporter and a Rocky Wrench presses a button and  teleports them into the castle.)

Guard: Oh no, it’s the Koopa Kids!

Cheatsy: Now the fun begins!

(Cheatsy presses the button and freezes time. After a bit of searching, they find Princess at a table with some Mushroomers.)

Hop: Now let’s-

Hip: Tie her up!

(They tie up Princess and bring her to the roof.)

Hop: Hey, let me try, Cheatsy!

Cheatsy: Forget it, Hop! It was my idea, so I get to use it!

Hip: Come on, you’ve had it the whole time!

(Cheatsy presses the button and restarts time.)

Cheatsy: Forget it! Maybe later!

Princess: What’s going on? HELP!

(Hip and Hop frown. The Rocky Wrench sees them and teleports them back to  the doomship.)

Princess: What is happening?

Hip: We froze time-

Hop: And easily kidnaped you!

Hip: And we’re gonna give you to Dad-

Hop: As a generous present!

Princess: You can’t do this!

Hip and Hop: We already have!

Cheatsy: And now we’re returning to Castle Koopa!

(Meanwhile, in the dungeon.)

Mario: I don’t get it! We magically appeared in the dungeon! How?

Koopa: I keep telling you I’m not gonna tell you!

Luigi: Well, as long as the princess isn’t here, you have no one to hand over a kingdom to you!

(At this point the doomship arrives at Castle Koopa. Cheatsy freezes time again. They bring princess to the dungeon.)

Cheatsy: Mario and Luigi are here too?

Hip: Who knows what they’ve been up to!

Hop: Yeah, that time freeze thingy will let you do anything!

(They open up the door and lockpPrincess in with the Mario Bros. Cheatsy restarts time.)

Mario, Luigi, Kooky, and Koopa: PRINCESS? HIP? HOP? CHEATSY?

Luigi: Whatever they did, they did it again!

Koopa: You three are in so much trouble! Wait a minute, they got the princess, so they shouldn’t be in trouble.

Princess: Let us out!

Koopa: Never! Not unless you give me your kingdom!

Mario: He’s right! Toad’s our only hope!

Kooky: Oh yeah, Toad!

Cheatsy: Let’s capture him and complete the set!

Koopa: But we'd better keep an eye on these three. Guards! Take them to the brig on the doomship!

(Koopa, Kooky, Hip, Hop, and Cheatsy are in the doomship cockpit. They look to the back wall and see Mario, Luigi, and Princess in their cell.)

Mario: You’ll never get away with this!

Hip: Look, there’s the castle-

Hop: Down there!

Cheatsy: Let’s freeze time and go get Toad!

(Princess gasps.)

Hip: Hey, give one of us a turn!

Hop: Yeah, share it with us!

(The three of them fight over it.)

Koopa: What about me? I never got to use it either!

Kooky: And I only used it once or twice myself!

(They all fight over it and it falls on the floor and breaks.)

Koopas: OH NO!

Koopa: Who cares? It’s just Toad! We don’t need to freeze time to stop him!

(Cheatsy looks out the window and sees Toad hit a block containing a Fire Flower. He grabs it and runs off.)

Cheatsy: Go on, savor the moment, Toad!

(The Koopas step on the Koopaporter and teleport right next to Toad.)

Toad: Yikes! You’ll never stop me!

Koopa: After him, you brats!

(They run after Toad and the song “Time Flies” starts up.)

(The Koopas chase Toad around the Mushroom Kingdom, on top of platforms, through warp pipes, and across a bridge over a river. The song ends.)

Toad: Oh man, I’m out of breath!

(Toad jumps up onto a platform below the doomship and sees a Note Block way above him, next to the doomship.)

Toad: I can’t reach it! Aha!

Hip: You can run-

Hop: But you can’t hide!

Toad: Take your best shot, Koopa!

(Koopa zaps his wand at Toad, who ducks. The beam hits the Note Block. A Super Leaf pops out and floats into the doomship, landing near the cell door.)

Princess: Alright! Way to go, Toad!

(Mario reaches out for it.)

Mario: I can almost reach it!

Luigi: Allow me, little big bro!

(Luigi grabs the Leaf and gains Raccoon Power. He breaks the lock with his tail and the three of them jump out the window. Mario and Princess hold onto Luigi.)

Koopa: They escaped!

(Koopa zaps Luigi with his wand. He loses his Raccoon Power and they fall to the ground.)

Toad: Take this!

(Toad throws the Fire Flower to Mario, who uses it to gain Fire Power. He fires a barrage of fireballs at the Koopas.)

Koopa: Augh! We almost won! Let’s get out of here!

(The Koopas run off.)

Mario: Well I don’t know about you, but I’m glad that’s over!

Princess: Yeah, but I’m worried that they’ll build another of those watches and get things right next time.

Luigi: Yeah, but you know the Koopas, they broke the watch because they can’t share.

Toad: What about me?

Mario: Oh, and THANK YOU TOAD!

Princess: So what about that barbeque?

Luigi: Uh, Princess? I know a lot just happened but this whole adventure was only a few minutes long!

Princess: Really? It sure felt like it!

Mario: How’s that? We never really experienced time while it was frozen.

Princess: Yeah, but with all of this action, I’m hungry!

Mario: Hey, that’s my line!

(The curtain falls.)
