Without a Drought

By Hip

(The curtain rises on Water Land and the title is shown.)

(Princess is in her study in her castle on the phone. She then hangs up as Toad walks in.)

Princess: Oh man, I don’t know what to do!

Toad: What’s wrong?

Princess: I’ve been talking to the rulers of Water Land and Desert Land all day! Desert Land is complaining that they aren’t getting any water from the Water Land pipeline! And Water Land is saying that they don’t understand what the problem is! And Desert Land needs Water Land to supply them with water in return for oil! I think I'd better have the Mario Bros. look after this!

(The scene changes to Water Land. Mario and co. are standing on a dock with a Mushroom folk.)

Mushroomer: We just don’t know what the problem is at all! We’re even sending more water than usual!

Mario: Yeah, the water level seems much lower than usual right now!

Luigi: We’d better go check it out!

(Mario and Luigi are each handed a Frog Suit from the Mushroomer, which they put on.)

Mario: It’s time to find out what’s really wrong here!

(Mario and Luigi jump in and swim into the pipeline and go for a while without finding anything.)

Luigi: Hey, Mario, how long do you think this pipe goes for?

Mario: Until it reaches Desert Land, I suppose!

(The water then goes downwards.)

Luigi: Hey, why is this pipeline going downwards anyways?

Mario: Let’s swim up first and see what’s the matter!

(They swim up to the surface and jump out onto a ledge.)

Mario: Hey, the water is supposed to be going down this tunnel which leads to Desert Land, but instead it’s going down this hole! I have a funny feeling Koopa is behind all of this!

(They jump in the water and go down with the current. Eventually they end up in a huge pool full of Jelectros. Koopa is standing on the edge.)

Koopa: I had a feeling you pathetic plumbers would find this place, so I came prepared!

(The Jelectros chase Mario and Luigi out of the pool but two Sledge Bros. grab them and they lose their Frog Suits.)

Koopa: You see all this precious water? I’ve already got a couple of tanks filled up with it! It’s supposed to go to Desert Land but I won’t give it to them until Desert Land is signed over to me! And this time, I’ll make sure I don’t screw up!

Luigi: You’ll never get away with this you reject reptile!

Koopa: Yeah right! I’ll deal with you two later, I’ve got some water to sell, and a land to acquire, heh heh!

(Koopa is standing on a platform in Desert Land, next to the empty reservoir, surrounded by a lot of Mushroomers.)

Koopa: And so, if you people want water, just sign over your kingdom to me!

Crowd: Boo! Never! You can’t make us!

(A Fire Brother pours Koopa a glass of water and he drinks it.)

Koopa: That was sooooo refreshing! Too bad you people don’t have any to go around!

(Back in Water Land, Princess and Toad are still waiting.)

Princess: What’s taking them so long?

Toad: I think it’s best that we go after them and see what’s the matter!

(Princess and Toad, in Frog Suits, are swimming through the pipeline and eventually fall down the hole. They land in the pool and climb out. Over to the side they see the two Sledge Bros. guarding Mario and Luigi in a cage.)

Mario: Are we glad to see you!

Sledge Brother: What are you doing here?

Mario: Watch out!

(The Sledge Brothers stomp the ground and paralyze Princess and Toad. Then they throw their sledges at them and they lose their Frog Suits. Toad runs up to the cage.)

Toad: Maybe I can pick the lock!

(A Sledge Brother throws a sledge at Toad who jumps out of the way. The sledge hits the cage and it breaks open.)

Mario: We can take care of these two!

(Mario and Luigi charge at the Sledge Brothers and jump on them.)

Princess: How are we gonna reroute the water?

Luigi: Rerouting water is no problemo for perfecto plumbers!

(Mario and Luigi hook up a bunch of pipes to a pump and all of the tanks that are holding water. They then flick a switch and all the water gets sent back into the pipeline to Desert Land.)

Mario: C’mon, we gotta get to Desert Land and deal with Koopa!

(They jump into a pipe and end up in the pipeline.)

Mushroomers: Please! Give us a drink!

Koopa: You give me the kingdom, then we’ll talk!

Mushroomers: I don’t think we have a choice! Maybe we should give into his demands!

(The reservoir starts to fill up and the citizens cheer. Eventually Mario and co. come out and jump out of the reservoir.)

Mario: Listen, King Bowser Koopa, we’ve just watered down your plans!

Luigi: Yeah, now beat it!

Koopa: Not so fast! Fire Bros.! ATTACK!

(A bunch of Fire Brothers come out of a warp pipe and begin to shoot the Mario Bros. Mario and Luigi run off and start to bash some blocks. Eventually they find Fire Flowers and gain fire power. They run back to the Fire Brothers and start to shoot each other. The song “Too Hot to Handle” starts.

Things are heating up
They’re heating up badly
Too hot
Too hot to handle
Things are burning up
Like the flame of a candle
Too hot
Too hot to handle
You’ll do anything to cool down
You can jump in the water but just don’t drown
Too hot
Too hot to handle

After killing off a couple of Fire Brothers, Mario and Luigi start to sweat and stop to catch their breath. Of course, they get hit by the remaining Fire Brothers and  lose their fire power.

Fire Brother: Give it up! It’s over!

(Princess comes running up to them with two Starmen.)

Princess: It isn’t over until it’s over!

(She throws the Starmen at Mario and Luigi and they gain invincibility.)

Mario: Alright, let’s show these fire-breathing freaks what we’re made of!

(Mario and Luigi chase after the remaining Fire Brothers and toss them all aside. They then run up to Koopa and swing him around. He gets tossed into a warp pipe.)

Koopa: You’ll pay for this!

(The invincibility wears off.)

Princess: Alright! Now that the pipeline has been repaired, Desert Land can get their water as usual, and Water Land won’t be wasting anymore water at all!

Mario: Yeah, but we’re so thirsty! Could we have something to drink?

Toad: Sure! Would you like some cold refreshing water?

Luigi: Could we have something that isn’t so wet, like ice cream? We’ve had enough water for one day!

(They all laugh as the curtain falls.)
