P

Pak E. Derm: An elephant with a stop sign in his hand from Yoshi's Story. Use a ground pound in his face to knock him over, then flutter-kick over him. He doesn't hurt; he is pretty much just a roadblock. Sent in by Aleth.

Pakkun Flower: Just what Super Mario Land calls Piranha Plants. Nothing different from other games. Sent in by Ludwig 222.

Pale Piranha: A monochrome Piranha plant that lives in the Great Tree area of PM2. They're much weaker than regular Piranha Plants. Submitted by Siro.

Pandorite: The first chest Mario and Mallow will face in Mario RPG. He's in Kero Sewers and is quite tough for that earlier stage of the game. Some players will have to reutrn later in the game to defeat him, but strong players will be able to beat him early, especially with Mario's jump attack.

Panser: A dangerous flower that appears in Mario 2. He spits fire, some straight up and some in arcs, and is a very effective blockade. Some of them can walk, although they are slow and not much more dangerous than the immobile variety. A skilled Mario should be able to time him with no problem, but an experienced Mario could be at quite a loss.

Parabeanie: A kind of Beanie found in Superstar Saga near Beanbean Castle Town and twice near the Chuckola Reserve. They may have 20 HP, but they have the same attack power as a regular Beanie. They attacks in two ways: the first attack has it fly at you and ram you; use hammer defense to dodge. Its second attack is the same, except you have to jump to dodge it. It turns into a Beanie when it's taken enough damage, and can be defeated by a swing of your hammer when in this state. Sent in by TJVJ7@aol.com.

Parabeetle: A Buzzy Beatle that flies in Mario 3. He flies slowly and is not very dangerous. He is rare and only appears in one course, and he is very effective in hindering Mario's jumps from cloud to cloud over a bottomless pit.

Parabomb: A Bob-omb that floats down on a parachute in Mario World. Submitted by Miles "Thumbs" Power.

Paragoomba: A flying Goomba that appears in Mario 3, Yoshi's Safari, and Mario Party 3. He can be defeated with two stomps and is not very dangerous. Some of them make Microgoombas.

Paragloomba: Paragloombas are Gloombas with wings. A hit will cost them their wings and make them Gloombas. Sent in by Aleth.

Para-Strollin' Stu: These guys may remind you of the Lost Levels. In a bonus stage in Mario Sunshine's Sirena Hotel, these creatures help you reach far platforms. Submitted by Moses Kim.

Paratroopa: A Koopa Troopa with wings that appears in Mario 1, Mario 3, Mario World, Yoshi's Safari, Mario RPG, and Paper Mario. He’s not very dangerous and has a small range, but an inexperienced Mario may have trouble avoiding the bouncing ones.

Paratroopea: A blue Paratroopa in Superstar Saga. For beginners, these enemies are very hard because of its high speed and its healing move. It will turn into a Troopea after hit enough times. Sent in by Ludwig 222.

Parrotot: A weird parrot with swirling eyes who is Toad's second opponent above the forest. Only appears in Wario's Woods. Submitted by Coco.

Patrol Meow: A flying cat robot found in Fort Francis of Super Paper Mario. Just dodge it when it swoops down.

Pestnut: A spiky enemy found in Chucklehuck Woods and Seabed of Superstar Saga. They will turn into Beanies when hit enough times. If you get a Gold Beanie, it will run away. Sent in by Ludwig 222.

Petey Piranha: A boss in Super Mario Sunshine. It's a giant Piranha Plant with legs and a flower on his head. He flies too, quite well for an enemy his size. To defeat him, simply give him a drink and pound on his belly. Petey is also a boss in Partners in Time, Mario Pinball Land, Super Princess Peach, and New Super Mario Bros, and is playable in Double Dash and Mario Superstar Baseball. Submitted by Misty Koopa.

Phanto: A living jack-o-lantern that spends his time guarding keys. He will chase anyone who takes it but can be turned away by a throw of the key. He is not really very dangerous but an inexperienced Mario should be wary of him. He appears in Mario 2.

Phantom Ember: In PM2 you'll find this strange green Ember in the Palace of Shadow. Most of its attacks will set you on fire. Submitted by Siro.

Phantom Guy: If you step on the color switch that's the same color as a Phantom Guy, then it'll turn into a  block. Possibly related to Boo Block enemies. Found in Mario vs DK 2. Sent in by Crazy Koopa.

Pider: This is a spider that's found in the Pit of 100 Trials and the Great Tree of Paper Mario 2. It has 5 HP and can occasionally attack three times in a row. Submitted by Dark Koopa.

Pidgit: A black crow that appears in Mario 2. He is only able to fly with a magic carpet, but he uses it to swoop down on Mario. Unfortunately, he is not that dangerous, and he proved traitorous several times because Mario was able to throw him off and use the carpet to cross bottomless pits.

Pidgit Bill: These are what Bullet Bills turn into after you beat the Special World. They look like a mix between a Pidget and a Fuzzie. Submitted by Ludwig 222.

Pigarithm: A 3D pig-like creature found in the Woah Zone of Super Paper Mario. It takes three hits to defeat. Each time it gets hit, it gets smaller and faster. It drops a lot of coins when defeated.

Pile-Driver Microgoomba: These micro menaces have taken to bricks. They propel themselves in Mario's general direction, but aren't much of a threat if Mario is careful. Get the jump on them. Sent in by John.

Pink Boo: These Boos are found in Hotel Delfino of Super Mario Sunshine. Spraying them turns them into platforms used as steps to reach higher areas. Submitted by Ludwig 222.

Pinwheel: A fan found in Valentina’s Castle in SMRPG. Yes, I’m serious that it’s a fan. Submitted by TJ Koopa.

Pionpi: A bouncing zombie found in 4-1 of Super Mario Land. These guys are very annoying as a jump only stun thems for a few seconds. Just avoid them. Sent in by Ludwig 222.

Piranha Bean: A walking Piranha Plant that serves as a mini-boss in Superstar Saga. This plant can spit out fireballs as well as a mysteriously miniatured Prince Peasley, who he'll then catch on the rebound and re-swallow. Luigi must go solo and beat him in order to rescue Peasley and get one of the seven Bean Fruit needed to claim one of the four Beanstar Pieces.

Piranha Pest: This plant can fly and make Yoshi very small in Yoshi's Story. The only way to defeat it is to throw eggs at it. Submitted by Coco.

Piranha Planet: A big, floating ball of tiny pipes with Piranha Plants in them. Found in Partners in Time. Submitted by tatanga.

Piranha Plant: A vicious man-eating plant that usually lives in pipes, and a member of the original Koopa Troop. They usually run on a timer, popping in and out of the pipes. Usually they are not very dangerous because they will not pop out of their pipe if Mario is right next to it or on it. However, they are very threatening to an inexperienced or careless Mario. Some of them also spit fire, and can be quite dangerous. They appear in Mario 1, Mario 3, Mario World, Yoshi’s Island, Mario RPG, Mario 64 and Paper Mario.

Piranha Sprout: Like the Piranha Pest, he can make Yoshi small. He also can only be defeated by eggs and appears in Yoshi's Story. Submitted by Coco.

Piranhabon: Located in Bianco Hills of Mario Sunshine, a giant Piranha Plant covered in goop. What else should I describe? Submitted by Moses Kim.

Piranhacus Giganticus: These huge Piranha Plants from Mario 3 live the good life, being so large that even Mario can't scare them into hiding. And they come in green, too. Mario would do well to either avoid them, or just make it easy on himself and surrender... or he could try his hand at timing them so he can make it across safely, if he's unarmed as he is likely to be. For some reason, the plants won't come out if Mario or Luigi stand ON the pipe... Sent in by John.

Pirate Guy: New to Yoshi's Island DS, this is just a regular Shy Guy dressed in pirate gear. Sent in by Ludwig 222.

Piro Dangle: A fiery creature found in a hidden room in Burt the Bashful's fort that moves around blocks (like Spark from SMB2). It simply can't be defeated. Submitted by Ludwig 222.

Piscatory Pete: A fish that chases Yoshi in the waters of Yoshi's Island. There are many of them, but hopefully you can avoid them. Submitted by Ludwig 222.

Plungelo: Plunger-like creatures that walk on the three mirrors in Gelato Beach's Episode 2 in Mario Sunshine. To get them off, spray them to an edge until they're standing on one foot, then Ground Pound the other side. Submitted by Ludwig 222.

Podoboo: A ball of magma with little maneuverability. The leap out of lava pits and can sometimes drop off ceilings and fly back up. In SMB, Lost Levels and Mario World, they are invincible, but they make geat targets for hammers or Statue Stomps in SMB3. In Mario World, some can rebound off obstacles at a 45 degree angle. Suddenly in later games they have more mobility. They can move around a bit in Yoshi's Safari, and they can move around a lot in the Parties. Sent in by John.

Poison Cherbil: This flying, green foe from Super Paper Mario kind of looks to me like Yoshi's face, but don't be fooled. It shoots out puffs of gas that can cause damage and poison.

Poison Pokey: Very similar to the Pokey Mummy of PM1, only this one is in the sequel. If it strikes Mario or an ally, they may become poisoned. Found by Dark Koopa.

Poison Puff: A green Ruff Puff. It'll charge or try to poison you. While it's storing poison you'll get hurt if
you touch it. They're found in the Pit of a Hundred Trials of PM2. Submitted by Siro.

Pokey: A walking cactus that appears in Mario 2, Mario World, Mario 64, and Paper Mario. His strength is in height, because he is tall and Mario often has to jump over him. He can be defeated from above in Mario 2, ground pounded in Mario 64, and eaten in Mario World. He is not extremely dangerous as long as Mario is calm and in control.

Pokey Head: This bouncin' Pokey lives in Bianco Hills of Mario Sunshine and is easy to beat. Just jump on their heads. Submitted by Moses Kim.

Pokey Mummy: A blue mummy of a Pokey that appears in Dry, Dry Ruins of Paper Mario. They can't be jumped or hit by a physical attack without a Spike Shield Badge. They aren't very strong. Their Topple and Body Shot attacks do cause a poison effect though. They can also call for back-up using Call for Help. Sent in by Aleth.

Pokie: Unlike a Pokey, these guys are like Blowhards, but just drop Needlenoses straight down. The Needlenoses bounce to the side and eventually explode. Found in Yoshi's Island DS. Found by Ludwig 222.

Pokie Swinger:  A Pokie in Yoshi's Island DS with a rope swinging out of its mouth. You'll sometimes need to use the rope to continue through the level. They spit Needlenoses that slide down the rope and explode when they reach the end.   Found by Ludwig 222.

Poobah the Pharoah: Boss of his own home, Poobah the Pharoah's Pyramid. A physical embodiment of the long-dead desert king. Cold, uncaring, historical types yearn to plunder his tomb and take his things for their "research". From Wario: Master of Disguise. Sent in by ghettobananachris.

Popple: A "master" shadow thief who fights Mario several times in Superstar Saga. He's a lot like Croco, but has a really bad temper. He found Bowser in the mountains, and made him his rookie he was suffering from amnesia). He likes to steal Mushrooms and your hammers. Submitted by Blue Boo.

Porcupo: A porcupine that appears in Mario 2. He can’t be jumped on because of his quills, but he is small and usually easy to jump over. He can also be defeated with veggies.

Porcupuffer: A spiny Cheep Cheep that inhabits the water in Mario World. He is not any more dangerous than the original, and can be killed by a fireball or a cape spin. Name sent in by John.

Pounder: A living hammer. He isn’t that tough, so use normal attacks and save your FP. Found in Mario RPG. Submitted by Miles "Thumbs" Power.

Poundette: A female Pounder. Her hammer toss can cause fear to one of your comrades, so keep an eye out. Submitted by Miles "Thumbs" Power.

Princess Shroob: Ruler of all things Shroob and Peach's captor in Partners in Time, she seems to be mad at her for reasons unknown. Submitted by Mr. I.

Priscilla the Peckish: Boss of Castle of Priscilla the Peckish in Yoshi's Island DS. This antlion eats anything, mainly Shy Guys and Yoshis. Sent in by Crazy Koopa.

Ptooie: A plant that plays with a spiked ball in Mario 3. When he is on the ground next to Mario he is an easy obstacle, but when he is higher than Mario it can be quite difficult to avoid him and his toy. He can be fireballed and smacked. He is not too difficult if Mario is patient and times him.

Puffy Squid: Enemies that hop in and out of the water in Ricco Harbor's Episode 1 in Mario Sunshine. If you spray it, it turns into a platform. Submitted by Ludwig 222.

Pulsar: The stronger form of Cluster, this beady eyed crystal has an instant death attack that he'll immediately use if an attack fails to kill him. If you don't touch him, he will use some other strong attacks, and if you do attack, you'll have to be powerful strong to beat his HP level. As the hidden Mushroomer in Mushroom Kingdom suggests, it may just be best to retreat from him. Sent in by Specter.

Pyrosphere: This Podoboo look-alike appears in Booster's Tower in Mario RPG. Weak, use any attack to make short work of him. Sent in by Guest256.

Q

Queen Bean: Really a goodguy, but you must fight her in Beanbean Castle of Superstar Saga because of the nasty worm Cackletta made her eat. You must attack both of her arms first so you can knock the crown off her head, allowing you to jump on her. Don't use Hammer attacks, as they only deal one point of damage to her, and jump over the beans she shoots; if you stomp them, they turn into Beanies. Sent in by Ludwig 222.

R

Ramenses II: A recurring enemy in the Smithsnorian Museum. A statue of the world's first true ramen aficionado. All who opposed his crazed, noodley ways had their best restaurants burned to the ground. From Wario: Master of Disguise. Sent in by ghettobananachris.

He is dangerous because Yoshi is very vulnerable to falling to his death, and must avoid him carefully. He is usually invincible, but he is also the boss of the fifth world of Yoshi's Island. Strangely enough, Raphael also appears in Paper Mario, and is sacred to the Yoshis.

Remo Con: What the? This freak of nature can be found in Booster's Tower in Mario RPG (that helps explain him). Most of his attacks are strong physical ones, though he also has a sleep move. It really should be a terror move! He's got decent HP, but he's slow and can be killed by one attack if done correctly. Sent in by Specter.

Rex: A dinosaur that appears in Mario World. He has no attack, but it takes two stomps to defeat him. He can also be hurt by fire or a cape swing. He is a very easy baddy.

Reznor: A group of four triceratops (one is called a Rez) that spin around on a wheel and spit fire. They are very strong and control the fortresses in Mario World. Their strength is that they destroy the bridge over the lava and force Mario to avoid their fire from one of the small ledges of the wheel. They can be defeated by being hit from underneath, but if Mario is not careful he can fall into the lava.

Ribbite: *shudder* This guy is a cross between a zombie and a frog. He can induce sleep and poison, but can’t stand fire. His dad apparently knows Mario. Found in Mario RPG. Submitted by Miles "Thumbs" Power.

Roto-Disc: A disk of flashing energy rotating around a floating orb in Mario 3. In the earlier levels, only one runs around, but in later levels two rotate. They're only in fortresses and make riding down a path in Ice Land fortress one nearly impossible with help from Podoboos and a Hot Foot. The orb can't be hurt and acts like a shockless Jelectro. The disk itself is nearly entirely invincible, its weakness being to the Tanooki Statue. Submitted by Aleth.

The pathetic thing is that they only have 3 HP, but the bad thing is that they give no Star Points. Sent in by Aleth.

Tutankoopa: This boss of Paper Mario's Chapter Two has two damaging moves and one non-directly damaging move. His Shell Toss has a different way of working. Instead of tossing himself forward in his shell, he tosses a shell at Mario. His "Magic" attack isn't really that much. He creates an image of a Chomp. The real damage is from stones falling on the group, and sometimes the rocks fall on him instead. At the start of the battle, he summons his pet Chomp, "Chompy".
